I liked the design of hotel. very modern look. employees are all nice except the concierge person in charge. not very polite and not very knowledgeable. the room value compared to Europe is great. but the massage value, should say very expensive.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FrankyUSA Home away Home - Best Experiences - Hotels Stayed at Shanghai
This hotel is the best, at leas among all IC hotels in Shanghai, and among all hotels I stayed in Shanghai. All staff are very friendly and extending their efforts when you need help. Managers are always trying to help on any needs you may need.
While spending most recent stays in the Executive Building, I had exordineary experiences with the reception desk- all girls at the desk were professional, regardless if I remember their names, Jenny or Linda....they are all execellent!
The Lounge experiences are also execellent - Tracy, Joyce, Linda, and the yong boy Sam (?) and new intern Kathy... all at a very professional level of Services - really make you feel Home away Home when you stay there!
Strongly recommend this Hotel when you stay in Shanghai!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tseainc The Best of Intercontinental in Shanghai
This is by far the best of the properties I have enjoyed. I have stayed at Pudong and Expo and they are both nice. However, nothing can compare to the location, (close to the train station and shopping) the breakfast buffet, and the service.
The service was the best part of the stay. The young man who greeted me at the door( name withheld according to guidelines) was amazing. Smile from ear to ear, English was great and the next time I exited the building he remembered me by name and addressed me as Mr. David. Great customer service! His boss helped me to my upgraded room and check in was easy and uneventful.
The club tower was being remodeled while I was there so they met and exceeded my Ambassador benefits with a Happy hour down stairs and a tea in the afternoon.
The only negative to the property is the amazingly stupid policy of charging 20RMB for the in room coffee. Really? A property that excels in accommodating North Americans should offer complementary coffee. I trust it will be free the next time I come.
This is a great property with great people. The welcome boy was great at getting me directions and a ride to and from the "fake market" Thank you so much J

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Service Need Improve
The is no doubt that Intercontinental Puxi has one of the best facility and hardware over the 4 intercontinental hotels in shanghai. It is also located at the most easy to access location for the intercontinental hotels.
However, the service do need to improve to match the 1st tier hardware of the hotels. It would be pity to stay in a 5-star hotel and get the service of a 3-star hotel.
I had submitted the complain to the hotel management team and I get their sincere apology. I think management do have the intent to improve.
I would look forward the improvement in future for my next visit.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by HenrikJ Nice room, but a few downsides
I booked a normal superior room and was upgraded to something called "great view'" or equivalent on the 22nd floor. The room was really really nice. The best sound system I have had in a hotel room I must say, so for a long term stay, i would value that a lot. The view was also really nice, overlooking Shanghai Railway Station and Holiday Inn Downtown. So, based on this, one would think i would return. Well, probably not, due to 2 reasons:
1. The room service was the worst I've ever had. I've never been picky when it comes to food, but here I just couldn't eat it. At first I ordered a pizza when I arrived. I was very tired after my flight, so I just wanted to eat in the comfort of my room. The pizza was so bad I ended up scratching off everything and just eating the pie crust. Later, due to jetlag I woke up in the night and I was hungry, so I ordered a Lasagna. I mean, how do you mess that up? Well, they sure did. It was really awful.
2. They had a nice coffee machine. So when I was about to make me a cup of coffee, I noticed a sign saying: We charge 20RMB per cup. Well, if you are such a cheap hotel that you can't even have complimentary coffee, well sorry, you lost me as a customer.
For those 2 reasons alone, I can't recommend this property.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by zxpanthony terrible wifi signal and slow response of service
there is no wifi signal in the deluxe room, I have no idea what is the defination of deluxe room for intercontinential?
Then I asked the staff and they promised me that IT technician will install a router to solve that problem, however after 4 hours there is no one come to the room which force me made the phone call and ask to change another room(with wifi signal). Not only this time, when I first time stay in Intercontinential shanghai Puxi in october 2013, there also had no wifi signal in the room, Which quite disappointed me, because it is hotel's responsibility to make everything correct in the room before customer check in.
Besides that, for the Woo bar in the hotel, almost half of the alcohol drinks on the menu shows as 'sold out' especially cocktails. The in room dinning menu is too ordinary, nothing special and very poor options of drinks and food.
overall, Intercontinential shanghai puxi is a good facility and decoration hotel with disappointing service, far from 'Great hotel'
