Monterey Bay Aquarium is a nonprofit public aquarium in Monterey, California. Known for its regional focus on the marine habitats of Monterey Bay, it was the first to exhibit a living kelp forest when it opened in October 1984.

Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds sits in the ancestral territory of the Indigenous Esselen and Rumsen speaking First Peoples. Despite attempts of cultural erasure, Esselen and Rumsen people persist and thrive, actively preserving their cultural heritage in their homeland and working to restore traditional stewardship. State Parks acknowledges and honors Indigenous People’s ancestral connection to this land.

Arriving in October, monarch butterflies cluster together on pine, cypress and eucalyptus trees in the Sanctuary. Their migration to Pacific Grove is so unique that Pacific Grove is nicknamed "Butterfly Town, U.S.A." The community has always welcomed the butterflies and advocated for their protection. Citizens of Pacific Grove voted to create an additional tax to create the Monarch Grove Sanctuary which is cared for by dedicated volunteers.

Though it may be best known for its PGA tournament-worthy public golf courses, this scenic coastal gem hosts much-loved annual events like the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, a classic car competition, and the Pebble Beach Food & Wine festival.
