The design of the new boutique hotel Kimpton Las Mercedes, located in Santo Domingo’s Colonial City, restores the courtyard of the main building—a 16th‑century colonial structure—and establishes a dialogue through a succession of vertically arranged volumes that, in turn, create new courtyards.

Among the award winners, Kimpton Las Mercedes stood out as the recipient of the “Best Wedding Venue” award in Greater Santo Domingo. This boutique hotel—the first Kimpton property in the country—opened its doors in 2024 in the Colonial City, within a sensitively restored 16th‑century property.

This edition is especially significant as it marks the 25th anniversary of this landmark event. For this reason, Sócrates McKinney, together with his partners, has taken special care to develop a distinctive concept: a multisensory experience designed to engage all five senses.

RD Bridal Week 2026 brought the aesthetic of ceremonial fashion into the realm of art, through a presentation in which each piece fused design, memory, the full experience of a wedding celebration, and—most notably—haute patisserie. Hosted at the Kimpton Las Mercedes hotel in Santo Domingo’s Colonial City, the event reaffirmed the city as the Caribbean’s most cosmopolitan bridal scene.
