Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and enough lighting. Was very happy with lighting which tends to be dim in many hotels. Bed comfortable, room and bathroom very clean. Flat screen TV with many channel choices. Clean pool area. Was glad that there was a comfortable chair in the room in addition to desk chair and bed. My only comment is that I would rather have a complimentary breakfast rather than having to eat in the on-site restaurant. August 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to Stay in Gold Country I spent several days here while exploring the surrounding area and was pleased with the excellent staff support. After long hours in the mountains it was a pleasure to come back to a meal at restaurant. While all of the staff I came in contact with were outstanding, I would like to single out Scott at the front desk as the best staff member I have seen in all of the IHGs this year. If I ever come this way again, I will look forward to staying here again. August 10, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Check in We arrived about 1430. We were told that the room would be ready in about 15 min. We waited for 2 hours, checking with the front desk every 15 min. Several people checked in after us and got their rooms right away. Finally, my wife told them that if we don't get a room right away, cancel the reservation and we'll go some place else. They found a room and gave us $10 credit in the dinning room. August 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by There are other choices... use them! I reserved my room at one rate, received a different rate at check in, had another rate on my statement and was billed a different rate. Finally received my original rate, however, had to make 3 phone calls to get it. If that wasn't bad enough the hotel internet(that I rarely use-I have my own) was so slow it was useless, my room AC didn't work and the satellite tv remote was broken. Enough said. August 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wasn't bad--could have been better Our stay included 3 nights/4 days in a smaller-than-average room including two double beds. Please be aware if you prefer queen beds they are not available on this property, kings and doubles only and roll away beds are not available for king suites. Knowing that there was a need for less expensive accommodations, I booked in Auburn even though all of my business was in Grass Valley. This choice alone saved about $150 a night. I have stayed at the Holiday inn in Grass Valley, the accommodations are a bit higher end at that location, yet not enough to warrant the larger expense. The lay out of the hotel itself is confusing so get to know your ins and outs for ease of use. I found that during our stay the halls were hot and stifling, very uncomfortable while leaving or headed to the restaurant or pool. I am a very light sleeper and found the mattresses were uncomfortable, my husband didn't find them as bad as I did. The staff tried their best to be helpful with wi-fi problems and check-in issues. A news paper was delivered early every morning and a complimentary bottle of water was waiting with a personalized "greetings" letter on the armoire. I found that these small personal touches were a nice added piece. Overall we were please with our stay. I am one hard cookie to please and these guys hit a 6 our of 10 for me. If I have business here again, I might choose Holiday Inn Auburn for my accommodations. August 3, 2014
