Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Window Shade Issues We stayed there two nights recently. Our window had only the white translucent pull across the window. There were not other curtains which could be drawn across the window. The sun came in the window and lit up the entire room at 6am. Worse still, we called the front desk and they didn't seem to care. Several others we knew had rooms and they didn't have the same issue - they actually had solid pull curtains which we didn't have. The moral of the story is that you should checkout the room curtains first thing. August 28, 2013

My only complaint for this hotel is the pillows. It would be nice to have down or true soft pillows. The staff is wonderful! August 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wedding weekend We stayed at the Holiday Inn with a number of family members and friends for a family wedding. The staff was very accommodating. They were extremely busy that weekend but went out of their way to get guests checked in early so they could get ready for the wedding. Overall a wonderful weekend. We also ate at the restaurant a couple of times and the food was very good. August 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short notice Made reservations night prior, to a nice room upstairs as I requested. Hotel full as many firefighter in area. Air conditioner was not on when arrived and it took much of the evening to cool the room. Internet did not work, they said it was being fixed. Was not impressed with the food will go elsewhere to eat next time. Desk staff were great, water and candy nice. Slept perfect, like choice of pillows. August 17, 2013

When traveling with a pet the concern is that you will have a room that is not the cleanest since other pets have also stayed in the room. The room was very clean with no evidence of any pet having occupied the room previously. Grassy area close to room. Max's restaurant on the hotel property also has a patio area that is dog friendly. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed feelings The hotel is very conveniently located right off of the interstate and close to wineries and downtown Auburn. However, the price of the room was not consistent with the quality. The bed was not very comfortable, the pillows were lumpy, and the room furnishings were mediocre. It was clean. There is a free wine tasting on Fridays, which was a nice surprise. We also received a coupon for a free house wine or beer, which we didn't use because we felt the prices in the restaurant were a little high. We did eat breakfast there, but the sausage was cold and everything is a la carte, which drives up the price. The staff was nice enough; however, we originally arrived around 1:30 pm. Our room was not ready, which didn't surprise us, but the woman at the front desk said to check back in a little while. When I asked what time I should check back, said she didn't know; that we should just come back in a little while and see if the room was ready. She didn't offer to call us or offer any alternative, like storing our luggage, suggesting things to do in the area, etc. When we returned at about 3:45, there were 5 people waiting to check in and only one person (a gentleman) was working at the front desk. I waited almost 30 minutes to check in. When I mentioned that it was a shame he was working by himself, he said the other person (the woman from earlier) was on lunch break. Since check-in is 4 pm, one would think that they would be fully staffed at that time of day. There aren't many other options for accommodations in the area, so that may be the reason that the rates are high in comparison to the quality. July 17, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Must come back!! This is the reason why I choose Holiday Inn over any other they have never disappointed and this specific hotel runs it beautifully. We were here on business and I must say one of the best with personal customer service and love the area. The only issue and the reason why I gave it a "Fair" on ABLE TO RELAX is not a reflection of HI it had to do with guests across the hall in rm 119 that apparently decided to have an after hours gathering at 2:45 in the morning. i had gone to bed so relaxed from a delicious meal and a very comfortable bed to be woken up to swearing, loud voices and door opening and shutting for about half an hour. I could not go back to sleep and was exhausted fo my business meeting the next day. I will still come back to the area just to stay there love it and the area. Thank you to the manager - I believe it was Trish - very professional, friendly. Max's restaurant - mouth watering is all I can say! June 7, 2013

The guest laundry room was the cleanest I've ever used; the restaurant Max's had great food and service. We didn't get to take advantage of the pool or Friday night wine amenities, but certainly hope to next time. The only thing missing in the room was having a microwave standard (instead of for an additional $5 a night if available.) June 6, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by My worst stay at a Holiday Inn I made my reservation on line and was given a check in time of 3 PM. They changed their check in time to 4 PM. My room was finally ready at 5 PM and I was allowed to check in. I had called before my reservation to make sure they could accommodate my requests and was told no problem, at check in I was told they did not have any rooms that could accommodate my special requests. I was scheduled to stay two nights, however when we arrived back at the hotel for our second night our key cards did not work, they had been coded to work for only one night but my credit card had been charged for two nights. Because of their delays they offered us a free beverage (non alcoholic) at the restaurant in the hotel. We went to use the coupons and were told be could only use them in the restaurant when we purchased a lunch or dinner (so much for free). May 13, 2013

I was upgraded to a beautiful suite with a whirlpool bath and separate shower, with two vanity sinks in the bath area. There is a large flat-screen TV with many high-definition channels from the satellite. There is an outstanding Max's restaurant inside the hotel, and I received a free voucher for a glass of house wine. Scott, the Manager on Duty, checked me in, and he was extremely professional. There was a bag of goodies and a welcome message document waiting for me in my room. The King size bed was clean and comfortable. Parking is a breeze, and there is even an in-and-out burger joint a few steps down from the hotel. The hotel is close to route 80, and you can be in Truckee in one hour! It is an extremely amazing and beautiful drive along that section of 80, with amazing vistas of snowcapped mountain tops. After reaching Truckee, you drive by some amazing sights, including North Star, Truckee Airport, the Ritz Carlton, and soon you are looking at the beautiful sight of Lake Tahoe. After a short drive, you are at the astounding spot of Emerald Bay, with birds singing, amazing trees, and a beautiful sight of the lake. Soon, you are at South Lake Tahoe, with all the conveniences and comforts of home. April 25, 2013

The restaurant served very good food and the prices were good and the service was excellent. Nice, restful stay. Also enjoyed the kureg coffee in the room. Nice touch. It was ideal for a business traveller, particularly because the business center was reliable in its provision of a working computer, working printer, and required supplies like a functioning stapler, plenty of paper, etc. It's surprising how often this is NOT the case when I travel, and I was appreciative of the fact that the center was open 24 hours and it made my life simpler without ever needing to ask staff for help. Thank you. The room itself was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. I also had positive interactions with staff and felt safe and content in the hotel. My only disappointment was that I wasn't upgraded in keeping with the policy other Priority Club hotels typically employ for Priority Club Elite members. The hotel was fairly empty, so I would be surprised if availability were an issue. My coworkers tend to tease me about how loyal I am to Priority Club properties when other options are available; and I tell them the perks like room upgrades, free nights, and overall recognition and appreciation for my loyalty can't be beat. It's something I haven't experienced with more expensive hotel chains. That said, it would be great if this hotel made a distinction between Elite participants and other club participants. But it was nicer decor, friendlier staff and more comfortable than I expected by far.
