Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Very Comfortable Just spent a short stay with my wife at the above.Excellent room very clean and comfortable, and staff very helpfull thank you well done..Our room overlooked the two lakes one with the wakeboarders on which was superb to watch. The location is very good as its on the festival leisure park,lots to do ,plenty of places to eat and be entertained. We had a wonderful short stay and will be back. Stayed August 2013, travelled as a couple September 9, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 1st Wedding Anniversary I would first like to say a big thank you to the blonde lady working on reception on Saturday 31st August afternoon (didn't catch her name). She made our welcome very friendly and welcoming. It is in a nice location, very clean and friendly staff. On Sunday morning my wife and I went to the bar area to get a Starbuck's coffee, this was at 9.15am (the bar should be open at 9am as per the on-screen info). No one was at the bar to serve us so I asked the lady on reception if i could order a coffee. She said sure that just get hold of a member of staff to help. We waited for 20 minutes until a member of staff to turn up, it took her 10 minutes to open the micros till then she asked what I wanted. I replied 1 medium latte and 1 medium mocha, i dont know if i said the wrong thing on not because all she did was made sighing noise then walked off not saying another word to me. Had to wait another 15 minutes until it got to the point where my wife and I went to Toby Carvery for a coffee. Bit of shame really as im always been very happy with IHG hotels and staff but I just have to let staff of IHG HQ how one waitress decided to turn her nose up at making a coffee. September 4, 2013

The breakfast is great and the evening bar meals, although a limited menu is adequate. This isn't a problem as there are numerous choices of restaurants within easy walking distance. The rooms and 'common areas' are always clean and airy. I would recommend this to anyone who wants comfort. August 25, 2013

The staff on duty couldn't have been more helpful and they found me a room. The room was very comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. My son, who was with me, is a Ceoliac and the night staff made sure that there would be suitable choices for him at breakfast. The chef came out the next morning to discuss my son's requirements and he had gluten free rolls ready for him. Very impressed with the whole experience, I would recommend The Holiday Inn without hesitation. August 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel and staff! As a Platinum member, my wife and I checked in using a 4 night Points break rewards nights offer. A very friendly/helpful receptionist had our room cards ready, handing them to us with a really cheerful greeting. We were rewarded for our membership loyality with drinks and snacks vouchers for 2 people - thank you for that! We were out and about from very early on each day and did not try the breakfast. On the first two nights we ate within the range offered at the Festival Park restaurants and they were sadly basic at best. We ordered room service on the third night and enjoyed the best dinner of our stay. Great quality, good portions, although true perhaps a little expensive. Indeed, on our last night the bar, which was doing great trade as seemed usual, was sold out of our meal choices, and we had little choice but to bring in a takeaway meal from a third eatery nearby which too was bland at best. All the bar staff, receptionists and cleaning staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly, had a great sense of delivering excellent customer service and we found the hotel to be spotless. Indeed, the gentleman who cleaned our room each day is a great credit to the hotel and I suspect that my wife would be happy to adopt him if he would work as well at our home. A little loud at night thanks to the boy racers - try for a room at the back. We certainly hope that we have a need to return and we would make sure to place our meal orders early! August 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful stay This was the second Holiday Inn we have been to in the past two weeks and again we were impressed.The room was very spacious and clean,and the public areas were comfortable and inviting.The staff were excellent and one young lady named Chris was very helpful and went out of her way to make our stay a thoroughly wonderful experience. The only down side was the price of the breakfast,which at £15.95 was a bit steep ,especially as there are various other outlets in walking distance August 22, 2013

Bedrooms are nice with a choice of different pillows and biscuits with the tea and coffee making facilities, always a good thing! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family Accommodation We have now staid at Holiday Inn Basildon three times in the executive double family rooms. This is a very comfortable stay in a spacious and quiet accommodation for our family of three and reasonably priced per night. The location of the Holiday Inn on the Leisure Park is great for us travelling to the south from Yorkshire to visit family and friends and even sight see in London! We have found it very conveniently located for these reasons. Also being on the Leisure Park is great for a variety of restaurants and the cinema complex which we visited this time. I found that using the booking facility enabling me to change dates or number of nights up to 4pm on day of arrival is very important for me travelling from a long distance. In fact I had to delay this time by a day for arriving due to unforseen circumstances and was able to ring and change the arrangements quickly. It is worth paying a bit more for this service. Also the rate for the room was reduced each night slightly after the first night and made a saving on the final bill. We are very pleased with our stay at Holiday Inn Basildon and will be booking again the next time we are visiting Essex/London . August 19, 2013

The staff at reception were again very friendly, helpful, and polite. Breakfast cannot be faulted, plenty of choice and again very friendly and helpful staff. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy neighbours 3rd night of 3 was ruined by noisy neighbours, talking loudly from 11pm to 5 am continuously, loud enough for us to identify swear words, forcing us to leave early. The hotel management was sympathetic but could do little about it as they were not partying or obviously drunk. We received a refund of £35 on the bill. August 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No room when checked in I had booked my stay atleast 1 week in advance and my booking was confirmed. However when I arrived for check-in on due date, I was told there is no room available!! I was asked to check into another hotel for a night and return next day. I did as told. When I arrived next day around 11Am, there is still no room. Since I had a morning appointment, I left my luggage in hotel reception and set off for my appointment. When I returned that day evening, my luggage was still lying in reception. Finally I was given a room and I moved my luggage into the room to settle down. This was a horrible experience for me. I dont think the staff had any regrets. All they said was they were sorry for inconvenience. August 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of foriegn hairs in the bathroom We found the hotel and bedroom area to be really quite nice but that was before I went for a bath. I found (a photographed) small hairs on the head area of the bath and a long piece of hair on the side of the bath - my boyfriend, our boys and I all have short hair! I then looked more closely at the bathroom and found lots of hair (head and otherwise) around the bath area. I went down to complain and they said that they could not move us to another room as they were fully booked, which is perfectly acceptable. However, they said they would send someone up to clean the bathroom but this person never materialised. They also said I could have a refund but later on they spoke to my boyfriend and gave him a letter for a free stay which is not what I requested. We did get a free breakfast however and this was extremely good. Very disappointing. August 3, 2013

Nothing was too much for them and service was always with a smile from the receptionist to the lovely girls in the dining room. You cannot stay and miss the breakfast the choice and quality was excellent .We will definitely be back and the view from our room was lovely overlooking the gardens and lake. August 3, 2013

Nice clean rooms and friendly staff. My only request would have been that they let me know my husband had left some shoes there when the cleaners cleaned the room. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Expensive for the price Stayed here for Business - lack of decent hotels in the area which meant there was little choice of alternatives. This was full due to a World Paintball competition. Air conditioning didnt work- July 2013 has been the hottest month since 2006 so restless sleep. Bathroom/ room was dated, not very clean (dirty/ stained carpets). Overpriced hotel. July 17, 2013

I recommend visiting the bar and getting to know some of the friendly and funny people working there (Pat and Katie especially but not forgetting the others too). Staff at the desk was helpful and assisted me on anything I needed from laundry to locked out keys, etc. The rooms were good and always cleaned properly. For the area you're in, the hotel food is worth staying in at least 1-2 days a week, not much around that beats them out. I'd say the only downside to this hotel is the lack of free internet. I know they are working on providing free internet but be warned that even if you stay a month, they will charge you regardless of status or length of stay. July 8, 2013
