We enjoyed our stay, and both felt that this hotel offered a decently priced room that was acceptably comfortable and clean, right in the middle of Birmingham. I am picky, so was pleased to see that the sheets were really clean and fresh, bed and pillow comfy, room warm and acceptably clean. Nice touch to be offered complimentary ear plugs and kit Kat. Niggles: impossible to use the provided hairdryer in front of the mirror on the other side of the room, and feel that the shower head and grout around the tiles could do with a deep clean. Breakfast - there was plenty of it, and gratefully received. Nice staff greeting, and efficient service. Only suggestion here would be perhaps a wider choice of pastries? November 5, 2014

Check out and information on parking though was poor - Gave NCP Ticket and was told all was sorted - They need to communicate all sorted properly as all they do is apply a discount which still leaves it at 12.10 for overnight. Very embarrasing when you think your ticket has bene validated and try to get out and realise its not all sorted and you still have to pay !! Simple communication would have made this an easy process - If you go the extra mile and ensure guests know the cost and the arrangements on parking by detailing it on teh internet when booking and ensuring reception staff pass this on you will have many less comments about the parking being difficult !! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service but not the best bed Booked via phone and both the phone service and face to face service on check in/out was excellent, friendly and not 'fake.' Room was perfectly tidy and clean. Location is perfect for the theatre. The only negative is that the bed was two beds pushed together and the gap in the middle wasn't comfortable for my partner and I. We did book a double bed, so were disappointed with this. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large Function I stayed at the hotel in October 2014 when attending a sit down dinner for nearly three hundred. I can only praise the staff for the excellent way in which they looked after us nothing was to much trouble. They were not pushy when it was time to leave and I must add that the breakfast was one of the best I have tasted in the many hotels that I have stayed in. With the Main Railway Station only 200 yards up the road this is an ideal location in which to stay. I look forward to again coming to the Holiday Inn next year. November 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by City Centre Hotel We spent a very pleasant weekend at this hotel. Clean, comfortable, staff friendly and efficient. City centre hotel within walking distance of the centre of Birmingham and all amenities. We spent sometime in the bar on Saturday evening having a drink and the men in our party were watching Match of the Day on the TV. Unfortunately there was a large function taking place in the hotel that night and people were constantly coming through the bar to go on to the balcony to smoke. (the door is near the TV) They were leaving the door open and the cold air and smoke was coming inside. Why does the hotel allow this? The Hotel is supposed to be non smoking so why aren't smokers sent downstairs to the rear of the building where they won't pollute the air for people who do not wish to be subjected to this. Great service, great food and drink - I was especially impressed with being able to check out whilst in the queue! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great proximity for Birmingham Theatres Stayed here for a birthday treat, as we had tickets for the Alexandra Theatre to see Madam Butterfly. It certainly enhanced the evening being able to "pop over the road" after the performance, have a drink in the bar and a good night's rest in the comfortable executive room. However the room was actually better than expected and the best compared with two other similar hotel brands that we had used within the previous two weeks and was actually the cheapest because we had booked in advance. The day after we checked in was going to be the Birmingham Great Run with local road closures but on enquiry at reception they had little or no information about being able to leave by car he following morning. As it turned out this was not a problem. The local multi-storey car park is expensive for an overnight stay and HI do not have any deal set up for guests. We will definitely consider Holiday Inn as an alternative in the future. October 23, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location for the city Me and my partner stayed at this hotel after seeing a gig at the NIA (which is only a 5-10 min walk)! The hotel is about a minute walk from Birmingham new street station so very easy access and it's right in the centre of the city so you have access to everything. The room was clean and comfy, staff were friendly and helpful. My only down point from this would be if you are looking for a good nights sleep this may not be the best hotel for you; Although the hotel offered complementary ear plugs. When we stayed it was a Saturday night there were sirens, tooting, shouting and screaming all night long from the noise outside. Again you can't fault the hotel for this as it is based in the centre and it's to be expected. Overall great stay and would return again. October 23, 2014

It does not have fancy lobby, but very comfortable room with everything you need. The price is very reasonable. Reception staffs were very helpful. Two things I felt a little short. The doorman was very unfriendly (maybe they are trying to scare unwanted people). The checking staff did not ask my membership status (I have to tell them myself in order to get benefit). Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location The hotel was situated in a perfect location for me - 2mins walk from the train station (I arrived and departed via train) and about 5mins walk to the Bullring shops and the New st area. I actually chose the hotel due to it location to the station and to the NIA as I was going to a show and it was not too far away (approx 1.5kms). It was a nice surprise to have the shops so close as I had not looked at the hotel for that reason. I would stay there again purely for the location, but the hotel is also cost effective and while the rooms are a slightly strange design (double bed against the wall so if you are travelling with someone, one of you will be sleeping against the wall) they suited their purpose very well. We did have a fire alarm go off at midnight on the first night, so we all traipsed down to the front of the hotel and sat outside for around 30mins, but the staff handled it really well, apologising on the night, leaving a letter of apology by everyones door the next morning, and apologising again on check-out. While it is an annoyance, it was not their fault and thankfully it was a false alarm and we could go back to our rooms after about 30mins (had to walk up the stairs because the firefighters had not cleared the lift for usage yet). Clearly this is not a common occurence and would not put me off staying at this hotel again. October 20, 2014

THIS TIME I STAYED FOR JUST ONE NIGHT AND IT WAS ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES I HAD AT A HOTEL IN BIRMINGHAM I STAYED IN A COLD (THE HEATING WAS NOT WORKING!!), NOISY (FROM THE STREET) AND OLD FASHIONED /TIRED ROOM WITH AN AWFUL SMELL COMING FROM THE DIRTY BATHROOM CURTAIN. I ASKED FOR ANOTHER ROOM BUT THE GUY AT THE FRONT DESK TOLD ME THAT I HAD ARRIVED LATE(AT ELVEN O CLOCK AT NIGHT)AND THE ONLY AVAILABLE ROOMS WHERE OF THE SAME TYPE ON THE SAME FLOOR (S FLOOR) I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY HOLIDAY INN RUINS ITS REPUTATION BY PROVIDING SO HORRIBLE ROOMS THAT COST AS MUCH AS A NORMAL ROOM. IF I KNEW I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE STAYED AT A BUDGET HOTEL SAVING MY MONEY. I WILL NEVER STAY AGAIN AT THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL IN BIRMINGHAM AS MY LAST EXPERIENCE WAS BAD.( I STILL HAVE THE FEELING OF THIS COLD AND SMELLY ROOM) I SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A FULL REFUND! It is in a great location, near to Birmingham City train station and shops. The breakfast is highly recommended serving a choice of hot (which was hot) and cold breakfasts and choice of beverages too. The staff here are also very friendly and know the area pretty well (great if you re planning some activities during your stay). Overall an excellent comfortable and quiet experience.
