We wanted to do some shopping, so its location near Sunridge Mall was perfect for us (Just a $11 taxi ride.) And the breakfast buffet was also nice. But, it is undergoing a number of renos at the current time which makes it a little less than comfortable. Hallways are boarded up and hallways and rooms are dimly lit. ...Will be nice when it is all done! January 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Jacuzzi Suite We stayed in one of your Jacuzzi Suites over New Years, and were very impressed with the room and the staff. The room was newly renovated and very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was incredibly helpful. The pet policy you have in place is wonderful, it was a real blessing to be able to have our two little dogs in the upgraded room with us. I would recommend putting wine and other drink glasses in the room seeing as there's such a beautiful wet bar. In saying that, the service staff at the restaurant were happy to give us some. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Some Good Renovations; Other areas not so much. Needs to be rebranded. I stayed here on December 14 for one night. I booked online with IHG and as a Platinum Elite member I got an upgrade to a King Executive room. When I checked it, it was around midnight. Right away the thing I noticed was that the person checking me in had no name tag. I hate it when employees are not proud to display their name. Nametagless employees never seem to offer a welcomed experience to guests and this was the case also. I was offered a plastic bag of a bottle water, a bag of chips, and a granola bar. There was also a coupon for a free drink in the bar but I was tired and went straight to my room instead. Too bad you cannot exchange the free drink offer for something that you value instead of what the hotel values. The hotel has been recently renovated on the exterior and in the interior of the hotel. It is very nicely done. The room itself seemed to be interesting in the sense that it was a mix of the old and new. Never had I seen so much wood clash with so much steel; it was like a project was shelved halfway through so the old wood interior design was kept with a new modern steel type of look (case in point the bathroom had a old wooden door but new steel frames for the mirror. Either both should be modern or both old, but not a clash!). The bathroom sliding doors for the shower were not working correctly and you had to have the opposite doors used to get in and out, making the whole experience backwards. Their is also a small area for a sink/microwave/coffeemaker/etc. but this has a top cabinet which is very easy to bang your head on as you 'round the corner to the bed. The mattress was very comfortable and I had a good sleep. The chairs were of an older generation but the room was spacious. On the way out the housekeeper Amelia was very friendly and interested in my stay as we rode the elevator back down to the lobby. It seemed like she enjoyed her job and it is always great when employees, even housekeepers, interact with the guests. Overall the hotel still has some work cut out for it. I am not sure that I would be back... it would depend on the price compared to other IHG branded hotels in the area. The airport is nowhere near the hotel. They should consider renaming the hotel as a result. 30 years ago it was close, but with Barlow Trail now closed, they really need to look at rebranding themselves as an airport hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place for Business Travel The staff is helpfuly and friendly. The renovated rooms on the top 2 floors are great, they have nice new bathrooms. The rooms on the middle floors are fine, the bathrooms are outdated but the beds are comfy and the rooms are always kept nice and clean. The breakfasy buffet leaves something to be desired but the lunch and dinner food is fantastic. I highly recommend the room services as the service is fast and the food is just as good as the restaurant. Get the steaks or the grilled chicken breast with a cheese cake for dessert and you wont be disappointed. As for the amenities, the pool is nice, the gym is basic but there is a goodlife nearby. Great place to stay if you are travelling for to Calgary for work. December 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I will be back This hotel was in a great location for my business travel. The room rate was reasonable and the room was clean and comfortable. The only downside was the walls and doors are a bit thin so you will hear other guests and be heard. If you are lucky enough to get a high room on the west side you will get a great view on downtown Calgary and the Rocky mountains in the background. December 2, 2013

The staff didn't acknowledge I was a platinum member while they did for the guy in front of me, but that is a minor nitpick. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thank You I was in Calgary on business and I arrived on October 21st, late at night. My luggage was lost by the airliner so I had nothing! I went to the front desk to explain my situation and they immediately began to accommodate me with toiletries that would get my through. They were also attentive to my lost luggage letting me know that it had not arrived. As much as I was at the front desk, the ladies were always very friendly and accommodating. They made me feel better by the warmth of their smiles. When my luggage did arrive, rather than disturb me early in the morning, they called about six to let me know that my luggage had arrived. The wait staff was the best I had encountered at a Holiday Inn and I travel a lot. Thanks for making this trip the best it could be. October 28, 2013

Although this was fixed the next day I should have never been checked into this room. With my special rate through CPSA I would have expected better value. This hotel has been renovated lately & the pricing structures are of a high end hotel. This hotel is definitely NOT high end. My shower stall must have been 15 - 20 years old & the bed was not much different. I stay in hotels on average of 150 nights a year. This is the poorest valued hotel I have stayed in in all my years of travel. Very disappointed! October 28, 2013

My bill wasn't prepared for checkout and breakfast was the minimum. Usually as a priority club member I received a little gift on arriving but this was not the case here. October 11, 2013

There is scope for improvement in the menu in the 2nd floor restaurants. At least control the amount of cheese in the lasagna! Overall excellent experience. October 8, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Washrooms need work I stayed 2 separate 3 night stays at the hotel. The first time: 1. I didn't receive my wake up call 2. The washroom had two body lotions and no conditioner, which I didn't notice until too late 3. The shower nosel would not pull up without strainging 4. There was a slow drip from the tub all night All the above were fixed the next night but there was NO offer of any compensation, which was disappointing, considering the "if anything is not right we'll fix it and not make you pay". I ate dinner 3 times in the lounge on the 2nd floor and was satisfied, although there was a loud drunk sitting at the bar who should have been reomoved I enjoyed the work out room, although the second week there was a problem with a bent pin on the weight machine which I could not remove and had to wait until the shuttle returned for someone to fix it.. There was only 1 electrical outlet reachable to me on the desk, so I couldnt' charge my phone AND plug in my laptop at the same time. There were not dining opitions within walking distance of the hotel, which made it challenging without a rental car. October 7, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Owner's private party keeping guests awake I had two rooms booked at the Calgary Airport Holiday Inn hotel for the nights Sep 21 and 22, one for myself and another for my friend and her husband visiting from Toronto. That was the first time I had stayed at this hotel. As a Platinum Elite member, we had rooms on the 5th floor. The rooms on this floor had been renovated and were bright and airy. Everything was as expected from Holiday Inn or the Express brand hotels. However, there were two surprises: the excellent food (breakfast buffet and dinner) from the in-house restaurant and the owner's private party on the second night that kept my friends awake until close to 3am. Earlier on in the evening (around 11pm), I made an enquiry at the front desk about the loud music that we heard from my friend's room. We were told it was the owner's private party in the hotel restaurant and should end at midnight. (I thought the usual hotel quiet hour was either 10 or 11pm.) I made another phone call to the front desk at around 1:30am as I could still hear some music noises from my room. I was told that the party was over at midnight. I thought the noise was from another room so I opened my room's door to check the corridor; but it was quiet in the corridor. I put on my ear-buds and managed to fall asleep. The following morning, I found out from my friends tthat the music went on close to 3am. The music was much louder than that heard in my room as their room was more or less above the restaurant on the 2nd floor. I felt bad about that as it was on my recommendation that my friends stayed at this hotel. Everything else about this hotel was good but I don't understand why the hotel owner would subject the guests to unreasonable noises late into the night. One can complain about other hotel guests making unreasonable noises and the hotel will deal with it. What does one do if it is the hotel owner/staff who are making such noises? I use the Holiday Inn or Express hotels extensively when I travel but I don't think I will stay in this hotel again. October 2, 2013

The room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable and the staff was friendly. This trip we did not eat in the hotel so it was not rated. I would definitely stay again and would recommend this hotel. Friendly staff in the lounge, though drink options were limited (no mixed cocktails, no pale ale or regular lager on tap). We ate both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Food was very good and reasonably priced, but service left a lot to be desired. We waited quite a while before being seated; longer to have our order taken. At dinner, our appetizer was served at the same time as our main course; side salad came without the dressing I had ordered; no desserts were offered and bill was delivered while we were still eating. We observed order of service problems at other nearby tables--salads arriving after steaks, two diners served while two others at same table waited several minutes more for their meal. At breakfast, place settings were incomplete and our food was served and getting cold before missing cutlery was provided. Staff were polite and kept asking if everything was okay, whether we wanted more coffee, etc., but were slow to respond to any requests. August 19, 2013
