Great location but difficult to find. Ackward checking in but once checked-in it was easy enough to get around. might be hard for anyone with disabilities.

Stewie The view was beautiful!
I was in Arlington Heights for two weeks and decided to stay downtown with a close friend =). We stayed at the Holiday Inn and it was absolutely wonderful. The view was awesome and the staff were pretty cool for the most part. I'm going for sure next year! Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone.

Exceptional staff for planning and having a wedding reception. Kudos to Barbara! Avoid staying on the 16th floor above the ballrooms, though. Rooms are noisy until about midnight.

My experience with urban hotels located many stories above ground is that they provide impressive views of the city. Not so in this Holiday Inn. I was looking at the ventilation shaft from the 17th floor. Be careful what you ask for at check-in.
This hotel has adjacent parking, but you have to walk quite a distance to arrive at a ramp before a long solitary corrider to eventually come to the escalator that leads to a lobby that leads to an elevator which leads to the hotel lobby which leads to a desk. Obviously, drop your bag(s) before trying to find the parking. You will feel better about it.

The view of Chicago from the 20 th. floor was exceptional. Our room had windows on two sides that even made it better. Bed was very relaxing and comfortable and the service was very good.

Our stay was amazing! From the minute I checked in Edgar was a breadth of fresh air, offering early check-in since it was available and we had an early arrival flying in from NY for the Chicago Marathon. We needed sleep and he understood. Gave us a great room with an amazing view! Food at the hotel's restaurant was delicious and room service Sunday after the marathon was excellent. I had an amazing time and will return another year.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seattlevisitor Great location and concierge service
By staying at this hotel and walking through the Mart Plaza you can hop on the train without going outside (including getting all the way to O'Hare). It is a close train or bus ride to most tourist locations in the city. The concierge was fabulous. He can tell you how to get anywhere and can get tickets to whatever show you are interested in seeing. This is our second stay in this hotel and we would highly recommend it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by suew Good location
Location was good, just a $9 cab ride downtown. Room was larger than many in Chicago and very nice and comfortable. Parking was unusual, in that there was no valet service so you could drop off your luggage then drive down to a open parking lot and walk the 40 steps back up to the hotel. Parking was $39. But most unusual was that when you entered from the street you were just in a large open complex and had to take the elevator to the 15th floor for hotel lobby and registration. A bit inconvenient all around but once in the room it was fine. A first for us was that when we checked in they acknowledged that we were priority club members and gave us a little gift bag of snacks. Pretty awesome actually.

Found hairs on one bed and blood on the other bed. Hair on the toilet. Half used bottle of lotion aligned perfectly on the sink with the shampoo and conditioners. AC was broken and billowed all night long at a freezing 66 degrees. Couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The location is decent, it is a pain to get into the hotel especially coming off the Brown Line. You have to take two elevators.
Wish there were a few more things in the immediate area.
The room I had the water pressure was terrible in the shower and I had one of those adjoining room doors and I could hear people in the next room.... and some of it was not appropriate for kids to be hearing.
Free wifi is nice.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LH05 Nice Stay
The lower levels are completely renovated and are beautiful. The room was a little dated, but it was fine and clean. I appreciated that housekeeping respected my privacy sign on my door (some hotels have mandatory cleaning each day which seems excessive to me). The staff was very helpful and the location is fabulous. I will certainly stay there again. Plus the views were fabulous.

camcam7070 Bad Service and Dated Rooms
We stayed here on our last night in Chicago to be closer to the water(we stayed previously at another brand of hotels)
When we arrived no one offered to help us with our bags even though there were 3 or 4 bellmen that \ just standing there...and when we got to our rooms I was extremely disappointed, there the room just had the 2 double beds, desk and a small dresser (everything was dated especially the carpet). They didn't even have a mini fridge! In our room had this huge radiator that turned on every other hour making a terrible noise that woke us up throughout the night.
Then to top it off the next morning we went down for breakfast and we were then informed that breakfast is $19.99! I only stay at hotels with free breakfast and was informed when booking this hotel that this hotel had free breakfast which I informed the night manager, which choose to do nothing even though I was a Gold Member Priority Points member. I really don't recommend staying at this hotel. Its not worth it and they're much better Chicago hotels out there.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LD428 Best view!
This was my second stay at Holiday Inn Mart. I was floored by the view first stay. When I had another opportunity to return to Chicago, returned to this hotel and brought my husband and teen. They've heard my raves about this place, and HI did not disappoint. Once again a stellar view of the river and city. Room comfy. Only thing hat prevented a 5 star is the sounds from lobby/bar area seem to echo upward due to hotel layout, and though we were on 22nd fl, we could hear quite a bit of noise rather late into the night. I was too comfy in bed to phone the front desk...
The bar is best place to have a drink, watch sun set and lights of Chicago come alive.

Mother and I arrived on Thursday Sept, 27 @ 5:30pm via Airport Shuttle. We were treated like royalty by your most valuable employee, the first person on your staff that we encountered. He was sincere, kind and patient as it took some effort to help Mother from the shuttle. We encountered him numerous times during our comings and goings and his demeanor was always the same. A living "Welcome Mat", an ambassador. Please consult the employee schedule for the weekend of Sept. 27-30 to determine the name of this jewel in your crown. He is to be commended.
May I add that the view of the city from our 17th floor comfy room was extraordinary. We never closed the curtains for an instant, even at night, so as to bathe in the beauty of your city.
A perfect experience. Thank you.

We had a very nice room with a great view of the Chicago skyline and river below. Disappointed that there wasn't a hot tub in the pool area. Restaurant seemed very overpriced! Service and food left something to be desired.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by rubylola downward spiral
we have been staying here for the last 20 years while exhibiting at a trade show at the merchandise mart. on the plus side, it is totally convenient. however, the quality is on a downward spiral and makes us wonder if it is indeed worth the convenience. while the hotel claims it has been completely updated and renovated recently we have not seen that. the room we just stayed in was dated and the bed was awful (not what we have come to expect these days at holiday inns elsewhere). our toilet kept running after use and we had to continually get up from our bed to jiggle the handle to get it to stop running. the housekeeping was sub-par. while our beds were made and the towels were changed, we had empty dirty coffee cups laying around with old coffee in them, our ice bucket was continually NOT emptied and someone else's magazines mysteriously ended up in our bathroom one day....making us wonder if someone was using our bathroom while we were gone for the day. all we want when we are traveling on business is a comfortable bed and a clean room at the end of the day. no such luck. maybe next year, we will spend LESS and stay at a higher quality hotel.

We arrived and they checked us in with ease. The beds were comfortable and the view was fabulous. The next day Todd helped us make reservations for a river cruise and he was wonderful. We will definately stay there again. Terrific location!
The only downside was that the water took forever to turn hot and sometimes it did not turn hot.
