Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The worst Holiday Inn experience we have ever had I booked a room with two double beds. The hotel was sold out. When we arrived a women was at the front desk and had just canceled her suite reservation. While we were waiting to get checked in, the hotel clerk offered this room to 2 people who walked in looking for a hotel room. No one took the room. We went to our room to discover that we had a king bed and not two double beds. We immediately went back to the front desk and waited while the still available hotel room was being offered once again to another person. He declined it. I asked if we could switch to the suite since our room was not what I had reserved. At that point the clerk verified that our reservation was for a room with two double beds. I never said I would not make up the cost difference to switch to the more expensive room. After some discussion between the hotel clerk and the supervisor/manager they informed us that there were no other rooms available. The clerk denied offering the room to anyone. The lobby is very small and I was standing right there when he offered it to 3 people who walked in off the street. I can't even comprehend why we could not have been given the opportunity to switch rooms. We went back to our room and within 20 minutes, while my husband was taking a shower, a woman and her two daughters walked in our room with the hotel key they had just obtained from the front desk. She was very embarrassed. We received no apologies. We went downstairs to the hotel restaurant and returned to our room only to find that our keys did not work anymore. The same clerk claimed we had demagnitized them. We had been out of the room for approximately one hour and had not even left the building. The keys were still in the cardboard key holder. This experience was so unpleasant we are seriously thinking that it is not worth it to be a Platinum rewards club member. We have the flexibility to choose another hotel chain. September 6, 2014

The breakfast was overpriced for the buffet but what doesn't cost a little more in Chicago? Enjoyed the location for walking distance to many sights. Thanks bunches to the kind staff! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value and outstanding staff! We spent 5 nights at this hotel in a one bedroom suite, the rate included parking and breakfast which was a fantastic value. We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel and staff. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way with any requests. Room was clean and breakfast was great. We found it an easy walk to almost everything and felt very safe at the hotel and surrounding area. Pool on the roof was a nice break after a hot day of sightseeing. We would stay here again! The clerk was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Although we cheked ih early he was able to find us a room on the second floor. The bellman was cheerful and Knowledgeable and he doubled as the valet. Our room was very clean and nicely appointed - not spacious but more than adequate. Beds were very comfortable. We were very satisfied and will not hesitate to stay at this hotel in the future August 29, 2014

The Staff is very attentive to all my needs, they try to remember my name and a little history about me and my company/family. They suggest places to eat outside of their own restaurant which is excellent for breakfast (Sunnys) and late night treats in the lounge. They truly want you to enjoy your stay, not only in their Hotel (which is wonderful) but the whole time you are in Chicago. My Grandchildren loved the pool on the roof! August 25, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value in Chicago near to Union station Needed a 1 night stay before departing Union station on Amtrak. Also wanted to be close to a blue line L station as we were arriving from O'Hare airport. This place fitted the bill well in both respects and was good value also. All staff did a great job and we had an enjoyable stay. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others August 18, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service poor location The hotel provides great services and the staff are nice and helpful. My suitcase did not arrive and I was given a complementary shaving kit. The problem is the location which is off downtown next to very busy traffic and in a bit run down area. It is great if you are coming by car (ample parking). By transit or by foot it is not the best area to explore downtown Chicago. The blue metro line stops very near the hotel (stop Clinton). For exploring the city I would choose another location which has more people in the area and less spooky. August 17, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, bad and ugly Good-suite nice having extra space. Desk girl very nice and helpful, guy who works the door, very helpful. Guest laundry room a nice feature. Bad-not many healthy food choices, restaurant had no atmosphere. Housekeeping walked in on us our last day, early too.. She knocked and before I could get to the door, she was coming in. Hotel rooms a little tired looking. Over charged me almost $170 on prepay rate, took more than a week to get credit. Fitness center very isolated, as a woman, i was not comfortable with the location, so I did not use it. On top floor, diagonally through business center. Could not see it from the hall. Ugly-poor location. Nothing nearby, no restaurants, no shops, no attractions. Be prepared to walk. Parking fee at 40, is high. Considering my car was not in a secure garage, but a sketchy, broken up lot, where the sign for the lot says parking $10. August 15, 2014

Although the hotel was great for location for the purpose of our trip, the rooms are very cramp and with the number of people we had in our room, the bathroom was a major project. Had I known the area better and felt a little more comfortable about trying to find different accomadations at the last minute I would have considered it. August 7, 2014

On arrival, despite being a platinum member, there was no room ready at 12 noon and no promise of entry before 3pm. The rooms were poorly decorated and in need of renovation. No safe or refrigerator. Location was poor as there were no restaurants or shops within 10-15 minutes walk. Very much on the wrong side of the river!! We shortened our stay by 2 nights and went to a hotel on the magnificent mile which is a fantastic area to stay. August 7, 2014

Bed and room were good size. Only negative was that the bathroom could have been maintained a little better. It was always clean but could have used some minor maintenance work to the running toilet.
