Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay, good value hotel This was my second stay at Coram Street, Bloomsbury, London. My main reason for choosing this Hotel is that it has an underground car park, which is excellent, very clean as ambient music and is well lit, but is not run by the Hotel group. However, the Hotel is outstanding. On both visits, 12 nights and more recently two nights, I have had no reason to complain. The rooms are clean, the bedding and provided towels are clean too. Complimentary shampoo and shower gel, tissues are provided as are tea and coffee making facilities. TV / Radio, a wide choice of lighting and a hair dryer are also provided. Value for money is good, I only wish that the room tariffs could be better presented. I would like to be able to book last minute / day before stay breaks without incurring late booking charges for example, I booked over a month in advance and got a double room for one person at £109 per night + VAT. I checked the on-line booking site two nights before my stay as I wanted to extend my break and the room was nearly double that price for an extra night. The staff are polite and helpful and I will definitely be booking with the group again for my next stay and would recommend the group to friends. October 19, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good breakfast and restaurant staff helpful and always working hard. As much as I try to avoid any issues with bookings arrivals, there is always a problem! This visit, although I had requested and booked a twin room, had a written confirmation of a twin room, on arrival, I was given the key to a double room. I had requested by email booking extra soft pillows to be put in the room ( as available ) and on phoning to advise that I would be a late arrival, again reminding of the special request..... on finding I had a double room and not the twin,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and no pillows! On complaining, I was told that there were no twins available. On checking out, although my room was prepaid, the receptionist asked me to pay an outstanding £75.00. On asking to speak to the manager, he listened and has since emailed me to offer an upgrade on my next visit?? October 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good location I just arrived from a 30 hour flight through the night, too early for normal time check in, but the dark hair, Indian faced gal was very helpful and charming. She understood my sitution and gave me a small room to rest and refresh for 3 hours until my room became available. She was fun, bright and very professional. The room I got was comfortable enough. I would of hoped for a mini fridge. The sign in the bath room suggests to "Be Green" and save your towels from daily wash if you wish, but I hung my towels everyday to keep again, but the maid gave me fresh everyday, and changed my once used soap as well. I know in the inner city noise, and therefore knew when the bar closed below, and heard the people speak loudly on the street leaving the pub, like clockwork. One gal at the fron desk when asked if my rate included a breakfast said no, and when I asked again on the 5th of my six days if breakfast was used, another lady at the desk said YES, Hmmmm, I missed 4 of my 6 breakfast. Good stay to see family and friends in town. Very conveient and friendly folks over all. Good work. October 19, 2012

There is too, a commercial centre close to the hotel, with Italian, Japanese, Portuguese ... restaurants. If you want to dinner in the hotel pub, be patient, because we had to wait 45 minutes to be served. The first day, we see that the safety box didn't work. The staff said that they will fix it. The next day the safety box continued broken. The staff said that they need an especial piece and the will fix it on Monday (it was Sunday). We did the check out on Wednesday, and the safety box continued broken. In general is a good hotel, but I didn't feel that I was platinum member, like in New York hotels for example. October 16, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to the usual standard Well, I have stayed at this hotel before and given full marks, but this time, my stay was at best average. The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in at this hotel - it was as described in my booking, so I didn't ask to change, but was not a comfortable experience. Staff as ever were excellent and responded to all requests speedily. The other let down this stay was the hot breakfast selection which I found to be very greasy and just look-warm. Not the usual standard I have grown to expect at this hotel... October 14, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by just right I visit London on business 5/6 times a year for one or two nights at a time. My stay at the Holiday Inn was all that I needed, with one exception. In this day an age one should not have to pay for WiFi. the food was very good, dinner and breakfast. Service friendly and speedy and not obtrusive. October 9, 2012

Would recommend (in fact i have recommended it to my friends already) Small shopping centre close by, cinema to and only a stones throw away from underground station and we will be coming back. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good hotel, good location I would like to say that the manager was able to accomodate my requests and look into my booking details to see to it that it was as agreed. In terms of breakfast, I would like to suggest that you offer some variety. As I've stayed here over 12 days and it has been the exact same every single day. You may try to vary the fruits or the baked items; possibly offer something special on the weekends like pancakes or something. Also, it would be good to have a minibar/minifridge in addition to the coffee/tea maker. Not necessary, but nice to have. October 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location Other bigger HI hotels are available nearby, and frankly a little close to the office I visit. bloomsbury though is my favourite based upon location....close to the bloomsbury centre it offers an unusual host of restaurants and all the quickly art and crafts architecture of bloomsbury, including the converted deco garage opposite. Really nice, convenient inner city hotel with a village feel. October 5, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing - was previously a favourite location Stayed here for two nights 17/18 Sept and the main problems were very small room (I changed once and it was barely any different); power cut out twice for no reason involving me having to go to reception to get his fixed; general feeling of standards sliding. Only positive is front desk team - friendly and welcoming. The location is convenient for me, but sadly I will change location to get better service and value. October 2, 2012

But in this time, I really had a not good time. The room has a bad smell, and very small. Also, the bathroom i so narrow and is not clean at all, and its smell is really bad. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Standards slipping We were booked for four nights and , on arrival on the Friday 21 September, were welcomed very efficiently at reception and checked in to our executive room. There was a very dirty rubber bath mat and a very dirty beaker in the bathroom. As we were going to the theatre, we left a comment for the housemaid to attend to these things on the Saturday. Nothing was done and the single set of toiletries provided for two people had not been replaced but when we complained to the front desk on the Sunday, the mat was changed and the beaker properly cleaned or exchanged. We were also provided with the missing shampoos and bath gels required for our four days. However, on the Monday, none of our used cups or glasses were cleaned, the room was tidied but not very fresh looking. We have stayed here several times in the past and have always been pleased with the hotel. We do hope that this is not a general decline in standards. September 29, 2012

As the weather was good and we had just an overnight bag we walked to the hotel from Kings Cross station. The place was packed with tourists when we arrived but we were booked in very quickly by pleasant staff. Our room was as we would expect, clean, good shower and really lovely toiletries. It was also extremely quiet which was great! Breakfast wasn't include in the rate and as it was great September weather we went to the Brunswick shopping centre across the road and had porridge and coffee at an outside table at Apostrophe. The hotel is in such a good location, restaurants, cinema, tube station all close by. It is also a few minutes from The Foundling Museum which we visited and would definitely recommend. We will definitely put this on our list of places to stay in London. September 21, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel in London My employment has brought me to London several times a year, about 18 months ago I discovered the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury. Since then I have used this hotel each time I stay in the City. Ideally situated for all London areas with the tube station around the corner, in an area that provides for every taste. The area is used by many tourists and locals alike and there is sense of security in the areas around the hotel. The hotel is clean, welcoming, the restaraunt serves good food and the bar area is comfortable . The rooms have everything needed for business or short stays, the Beds are comfortable and the rooms clean. Staff are welcoming, polite and helpful. There was plenty of room for the children and staff were exceptionally helpful with putting the travel cot up for the baby. The room was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities one would expect. I was particularly impressed by the friendliness and helpful attitude of all the staff we encountered. Also - great breakfast! September 14, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy access and comfortable stay Came in from a business trip to Singapore and wanted somewhere to stay that was out of the main stream of the London hustle for two days. A direct trip using the London Underground Piccadilly Line from Heathrow Airport straight to Russell Square. Then a three minute walk to the hotel, very convenient. The check in was quick and my room was ready even hough I had arrived a few hours before the official check-in time. Clean and spacious room, good housekeeping, friendly staff and a fabulous breakfast for just 12 pounds, however I recommend that you purchase the breakfast in advance or you will pay more when you reach the dining room in the morning. A good in-house bar and a great pub next door, where you can choose to have your drink outside in you wish.lots of nice little restaurants within a minute's walk from the hotel and also a quite lovely bazzaar accross the road with some good shipping. There are a few parks in the neighbourhood so there is a fair amount of greenery nearby. I do think that this hotel is value for money. will most certainly stay there again. September 11, 2012

We allways find the Receptionist very welcoming,helpfull, quick and efficient when booking us in. Occasionally we get upgraded to a superior room which is very nice . I know the standard room is a little on the small size but we go to london to see shows usually at least two so the bedroom is just for sleeping in so it's not a problem. We find the breakfast superior to that of many other hotels that we have stayed in. Its location just round the corner from tube line at russrell square very convenient for getting about. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Internet Experience I have to express my disappointment that this significant hotel chain still charges for Internet, and Wi-Fi. In this day and age, even the most modest Coffee Bar ‘s and Café’s are providing free Wi-Fi. All of Wellington’s (Where I live) inner city provides Free Wi-Fi. Bus travel, London to Stanford provides free Wi-Fi. Even the London Underground now provides free Wi-Fi. Sure, back in the old days it was expensive and maybe considered a play thing for the business man, but not anymore. It is now cheap, fast and reliable and “Holiday In” must accept that it is expected as part of the service and expected to be free. July 23, 2012
