Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by not so good selection of tv programs and really expencive internet connection It would be better to have more foreign language tv programs. I would appriciate less cost or free internet connections in your hotel. April 10, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff I don't normally write reviews, but the management and staff deserve recognition for the professional and friendly support shown on my recent visit. Particularly for organisng my taxis. Well Done! March 10, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Oh dear! Have stayed here before and had good service but this was not the case on this visit. Bar staff hopeless, waited 10 min's to be served, bought a coffee and scone and asked for a receipt when paying by card. Unfortunately the girl behind trhe bar could not change the till roll which had run out and she said she would bring me a receipt. My scone arrived 35 min's later after asking staff where it was but the receipt did not appear. Queued at the bar for another 10 min's as she could not cope due to lack of understanding of what customers were asking for only to find out they could not give me a receipt! Lounge area was full of dirty glasses and plates with total disinterest from staff. Decided to go elsewhere for breakfast as did not want to spend any more money here. January 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Christmas Getaway We used this hotel whilst visiting family between Christmas and New Year. The hotel was excellent with the staff friendly and helpful. It was my step sons first visit to Stoke on Trent, hethoroughly enjoyed it and made full use of the gym and swimming pool on site. The only draw back to this hotel isthe cost of the WiFi connection compared to other hotels like the Premier Inns at £3 per day January 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Came good in the end This is an older HI, well placed for the M6. I found it reminded me of a better type of motel with the layout sort of not too tall but quite wide if that makes sense? As a Platinum member I was upgraded and although not huge it was a good standard and nice and quiet. However what this hotel badly needs is an uograde to its door springs! If a guest chooses to let their door go ( and many do the selfish idiots)!there is no resistance and the doors slam regularly and loudly. You just have to hope your neighbours aren't always going in and out....All it takes is a little courtesy on the fellow guests side to gently close their doors but that's plainly beyond some of them. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but breakfast was normal HI standard buffet but the bacon was very good. I had a major issue with my room which I brought to the attention of he duty manager in the morning and the way he dealt with it impressed me, so full marks to the staff. Would I stay again? Yes December 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Room review Room was very Quiet and although the temperature outside was minus 3 the room was as warm as you needed it with a good explanation of how to alter the heating controls etc. Good comfortable room and bed as I have come to expect from The Holiday Inn. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Just not getting it Unfortunately a regular guest at this hotel, you'd think I might even get special attention... Perhaps, but only after complaining and fighting for absolutely everything. The front desk is usually staffed with an unhelpful receptionist who clearly could do with a course in hospitality. My last stay was just shocking. It was all sorted out, thankfully, after the event, but this is not the point. I paid for an executive room, more than 72 hours in advance but got down-graded. (I am about to turn platinum member, so you'd probably think this would be on record) - Not only was the Priority Club promise revoked, it was a positive decision to do so, as my original (Exec) room number was PRINTED on my reservation slip when I checked in - so the room that I had been allocated was deliberately offered to someone else. (Remember I stay here a lot) - To rub salt in the wound, I was bumped to the "smallest" room in the hotel. No Exec deal (again) and I instantly complained. It was clear that this was inconvenient to the night manager, but I did get the 'disabled' room as a remedy. The next morning as I checked out, I made my feelings known and was very ably 'handled' by the day manager (thank you). An offer was made, which I accepted, and it was followed up with an appropriate apology letter and the agreed remedies were followed through. This shows me that the Hotel chain is very professional and does know what to do. So please make sure the receptionist has the training she needs to represent the brand properly, as on at least three occasions, the same receptionist has argued with me endlessly - and if I'm feeling this way, I bet others do too. Read my other reviews - it's definitely not me. Last point is - sort out the grotesque growth in the air vent - I have a photo that I can't manage to attach. Seriously, nasty. November 22, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tired & Underwhelming I stay at this hotel on a regular basis as it is well located for one of my company's offices. That's probably it's best redeeming feature. It is relatively inexpensive when compared to London hotels, and has some 'special' deals that include access to Alton Towers. However, as a business hotel, it's very tired and underwhelming. The executive package advertises both Internet and movies, but these are NOT included in the room rate, despite the (highly misleading) room descriptions suggesting otherwise. The bathroom fixtures & fittings are in poor repair, in many rooms, and the mould growth in the air inlets is quite disgusting. On many occasions I have eaten at the restaurant, and I can confirm that the food is very tasty, however, at dinner, be prepared for a typically long wait for any kind of service - 45 minutes is not uncommon in my experience between being seated and the first food arriving. Room Tip: Always go for the executive room, as they are better quality for the price. November 22, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and great service Excellent service - I had this as an extra weekend when I had to shorten previous trip. Staff very helpful. Kids love the pool. November 6, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Value Alton Towers break Following a wet, windy and hectic day and evening at Alton Towers by the time we reached the Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent we were cold and very tired. from the moment we walked through the doors we felt extremely welcome by the staff and were checked in quickly and had no problem booking dinner reservations. our room was comfortable and the much need shower hot with very soft towels. we had drinks in the excellent bar area and began to unwind from the stresses of the day only to be rudely disturbed by a large family group that had no interest in controlling their feral pack of children terrorising the rest of the hotel guests. much credit to the staff on duty who did their best to control things. An excellent meal followed in the restaurant with our children eating free from a well stocked and hot buffet, again the waiting staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. full and tired we had an excellent nights sleep and rose to a delicious breakfast and speedy checkout ready to face another day of theme parks! we left the hotel well rested and very impressed at the exceptional value. we will be staying again on our next visit to Alton Towers and hope to spend more time at the hotel next time to enjoy the leisure facilities. Thank you to all the staff of Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent November 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good pool and comfortable bed We had a great time in the pool and Jacuzzi. It was very convenient for M6 and Alton Towers November 4, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sleeping Nice bed, nice pillows, but all the doors close with a very loud clunk, so if you are a light sleeper you will have problems. October 21, 2012
