We stayed two weeks ago! The location excellent was perfect access to Alton towers. The hotel even though next to the m6 is quiet and peaceful with a clean swimming pool and calming scenery. Was a bit upset by the attitude of the girls at reception was spoken over several times while asking a question with eye rolling gestures and not nice atmosphere. Also asked simple things like please do not let the housekeeper go to bother by changing our bed or putting in fresh towels as we did not need fresh ones I also had valuables in the room so did not want anyone in the room. We came back to find someone had been in the room new towels bed rearranged etc. As the service of the leisure team and night time restaurant staff where exceptional. I would definitely visit again.

The last time we stayed here was to meet some friends and our visit clashed with a big convention, so our planned quiet dinner ended up a meagre left-over buffet and a chaotic breakfast. On arrival, we mentioned this to Jenny on Reception and she assured us that we would really enjoy our stay. We met Barry en route to our room and he kindly helped us down and back up a small flight of stairs which was very welcome. Dinner was excellent and we all enjoyed something from the menu.
It's nice when you can come back and re-check a hotel and even though this one will have some much needed renovations next year, our stay was very pleasant and we will come back.

I find this an excellent place to break up my regular journeys up and down M6/M5.
Last time the place was packed, no spare rooms I was told, with a mixture of Business travellers and Families (Alton towers I guess).
The gym and pool are some of the best I've stayed in for a Holiday inn.
Buffet Breakfast is the usual good Holiday inn standard and I find the bar area relaxing and friendly. Bar Snack service was good and efficient and cleaned up Quickly so well done.
Particularly enjoyed trying to explain the rules of Cricket to a German and a Columbian!!

Stayed here for a family party. Accommodation and food good. Spa facilities very good with good sized swimming pool. Only complaint was the cost for wifi. Think this should be free these days. Staff very friendly and helpful

Stayed here for one night at the end of July as the halfway stop over returning from Cornwall. Great location, very close to motorway, easy to find. Staff very pleasant especially in bar and restaurant. Very comfortable beds even the sofa bed. Fabulous breakfast in morning. Bar meal in evening was slow in arriving. 40 mins for 2 steak baguettes and a Caesar salad so would probably eat out if we stay there again. Main restaurant may have been busy hence the delay but only guessing this. Will definitely stay here again when travelling south or possibly when visiting Alton Towers.

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the beds were nice and the breakfast was ok,the hotel in general was very poor,the rooms were very old looking and the bathroom was very small,my son and I eat in the bar area, my food was very poor and the childrens menu was also poor,my son had the chilli and rice from the childs menu and they should re-name it the babies menu as the portion was so small,our plates were not collected from our table for at least 30 mins after we finished,we stayed in the holiday inn at Northampton and that was 1st class,so I think the staff in stoke need to visit Northampton and learn how to serve and make people feel at home.

The room was quite large and spotlessly clean. Although the room was well furnished I found the bed sagged in the middle and this made for disturbed sleep but the pillows were good and the room was quiet. Large fluffy towels.
The breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. The staff were very friendly and cheerful.

We were given an upgraded family room but it was not really big enough for 4 people. Not such a problem since we were only staying one night. Great blackout blinds
However, it was nice to see a playground even one that needs some TLC. Also it was great to see some toys in the bar area.
The restuarant was good and I like the self serve buffet for the kids.
Swimming pool was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful
I would recommend hotel but but I wouldn't recommend room for 4 people in a room they are just too small.

I stayed here the night before visiting Alton Towers theme park and have the say the room was superb. Only a couple of downsides and that is the hotel advertises you can buy theme park tickets there but when asked you can not. Also I paid for my stay before arriving but for some reason was £9 short. Was only told about this when checking out not checking in and when questioned wasn't really given an answer just expected to pay when their system had messed up not due to any fault of myself. The staff member in question was short with me when discussing the matter and unfortunately it let down my opinion of the hotel.

Travelling for work, just flew in from Australia the staff were great on arrival. The hotel met the expectations, warm and friendly staff, can't comment on the food as I only had breakfast and that was very good. If I come through again, I would stop here no worries mate!!!

First sight of the hotel gives a false impression. The architecture leaves something to be desired. Car park signage is poor. Reception was efficient and courteous, but lacked that "warm welcome" feeling. Reception to the room was quite a trek up and down several fairly short staircases. The room was first class, well appointed and and very comfortable. Staff in the bar and restaurant were very attentive without being intrusive. Choice of drinks is not great if, like me, you prefer beer to lager/wine/spirits. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast, too, was very good, but it would help if it was not necessary to find someone to ask that buffet dishes be replenished.

I am a regular guest at this hotel. I arrived this time and new signs in the Lobby saying Starbucks coffee now served here.
When the news broke that Starbucks were not paying TAX. I vowed never to use them again.
I intent to stick to it.
Dump Starbucks for Costa coffee. They are British and pay taxes.

This hotel is great. staff are very welcoming upon arrival no matter what time of day. Rooms are decorated nicely with some good finishing touches like a complimentary bottle of water. I've stayed here twice and enjoyed it both times. There is a nice spirit health club attached to the hotel if you want to get a swim or relax in the hot tub. food was excellent too with free food for the child.
The only negative is that I was looking for a property near the hotel to live as the reason fro my visit and will be locating permanently near the hotel soon, so no more stays unfortunately. I'll still stop up and pay to use their spa facilities though which are great as they are not over crowded.

Family room we were given was not really big enough; only just managed to get the travel cot to fit after rearranging the furniture in the room. Might have been willing to pay for an upgrade if it had been offered.
No lift. Took several trips to the car to get our luggage into the room.
Not able to eat in the restaurant until 6.30 pm; no early tea offered for children during school holidays. Service not great, incomplete orders and could have tasted better.
Ants in bedroom, bathroom and swimming pool area.
Disappointing stay. Having stayed in other Holiday Inns, I expected a lot better. Glad it was only one night.

I stayed overnight with my two children in an executive room, which was very small, but well laid out with the sofa made up as two single beds. The walk from our room to the lounge was incredibly long, going both up and down stairs. What marked our visit mostly though was the fact that it took over an hour for the restaurant to serve up two ordinary mains and another hour for two quite weak desserts to be served (these had to be served in the room as we couldn't wait downstairs anymore). My youngest child had a bit from the children's buffe and then went back to the room. There was no explanation for such poor service, and, as we were on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate, we couldn't enjoy our 3 course dinner, or even 2 courses. The pool is lovely, but it seemed like we were in an airport with so much walking. I have stayed in brilliant Holiday Inns, and cannot understand why this one fell so short.

The staff were excellent and friendly and nothing was any trouble. Breakfast was very good and the staff in the dinning room work very hard even when there are lots of people to deal with. Sometimes they were over stretched but still nothing was too much trouble, they were pleasant and helpful. The took the time to stop and ask about the day ahead even when busy.
They cleaned the tables as soon as they became available and kept all customers happy.
I would be happy to stay with yourselves again the girls were brilliant and should get credit.
The reception staff also were friendly and helpful.
