Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable Stay over Christmas We booked in on Christmas Day, everything was good. The staff helpfully put a gift in our room which our daughter had left the previous evening to welcome us as it was Christmas day. The only problem we had during our stay was a noisy radiator, we were moved to another room to sleep as soon as we reported it. The next day the problem was resolved and the maintenance man even came to the room later to explain why this had happened. That night we slept well and were offered a free breakfast the next morning. We declined this kind offer as we were leaving and had a schedule to keep but appreciated it all the same. The young lady on reception gave us two bottles of water and a chocolate bar for our journey. We will definately stay again and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. January 3, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel information non We arrived after staying at holiday inn manchester airport altringham road, on Sunday 29th dec. checked in and used the pool went to the restaurant in the evening to be told it was closed , I don't think the hotel was full so maybe this is why?. So we had dinner in the bar area , the food was not a patch on the evening before and not much available. We were woken at 8.30 by two rings from the phone at 9.15am we went for breakfast to be told this finished at 8.30 as for the call. After going to reception and telling one of the staff they said that we should have received a timetable of the meal times, but never did. If we were to know this then we would have stayed in manchester. Although the manager did give us a 50% discount on the room I feel this was a good gesture but as the food bill was twice this and inadequate January 2, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Recommended!!! I didn't use the restaurant or bar during my stay so cannot comment on these. What I can say is that the overall stay was great value, the room was clean and well maintained and the staff very good too. I would have classed Holiday Inn as a budget hotel before this stay. Now though I'd say it's mid-range with a budget price. I booked again for the following week which is surely a good endorsement! January 1, 2014

In the morning we were offered free breakfast, as a little something for last nights adventures. Very kind and undestanding staff, management should be proud of them all. Very clean and modern hotel, very happy overall, definetely recommended! December 25, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by overcharged but no explanation or apology, and lack of local knowledge I was billed for internet even though it was included in the room rate. When I pointed it out at checkout, the member of staff did not explain or apologize, just printed another bill with the correct total. Also, I was told that a taxi to my destination would take only 10 minutes. It took 35 minutes. The staff seemed to have no local knowledge of road conditions or distance. December 13, 2013

The evening meal was a bit plain but edible. Breakfast was fabulous such a great choice, really enjoyable. Staff overall very helpful. Would stay here again. December 12, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great price, very clean room and plenty of parking Arrived very late on a Friday night, quick and easy check in. Very clean room, great sleep, excellant black out curtains!. We stayed for two nights, great sleep both nights. Only complaint is the strange "procedure", whereby when you awake on your check out day, you are greeted by an invoice posted under your door! Not a great way to wake up, especially when you'd pre booked and paid for your room prior to arrival! Even better when the amount stated bears no relation to the amount you'd pre paid! At check out I asked about this, reception staff checked the computer, said it was fine, all pre paid and then tore up the invoice. She stated that this is a company policy! No idea why, as the invoice stated that it was not a VAT receipt, so of no use for companies AND the amount stated was not even what I'd paid, so no use what so ever! SAVE THE PLANET AND DON'T PRINT OUT THESE RIDICULOUS, POINTLESS pieces of paper. November 27, 2013

The bathroom taps in the of room 115 had been cleaned so many times that the chrome plating has been rubbed off exposing the brass underneath. Generally the whole hotel looked tired and well worn. The areas around the bar are not very relaxing and comfortable. Both check-in and check-out took far too long. Why does it take so long for this hotel to book in customers with reservations? There was one member of staff who was more interesting in fliling paperwork than helping customers. On check out the hotel credit card system would not accept German credit cards causing more delays. Many of the staff wore a surprising amount of make-up. Breakfast staff were a friendly team. I won't be using this hotel again. November 25, 2013

From being greeted in reception by Gareth, having an expertly crafted hot chocolate or coffee by Alethea or being wished a nice day by Melissa, everyone single one of them couldn't have been nicer or more professional. 10/10 Well done guys, see you all again soon!! The bedroom was comfortable and made up for the evening as we had a pull-out sofa bed for our children. The restaurant was welcoming with a good choice on the menu, very good offer as kids eat free. There was a wide choice of breakfast in the morning and delicious. All the staff from the Reception, bar staff, breakfast staff were very friendly and attentive. I think the Manager was in attendance on the evening and served our meal she was very bubbly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We had chance to use the pool which again was very clean and excellent changing facilities. Would definitely stay here again, although just a bit tricky to find after a long day at Alton Towers. Have to say the staff members have always been more than friendly and helpful, though on recent stays here, Darina, Sarah, Gareth, Holly and the lovely ladies who cover breakfast have all been brilliant hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. My room is always clean and tidy and the food is always of a good portion and quality. Its the little things that matter when you are living away from home, a friendly smile, an aknowledgement by name and a genuine interest in how you are.
