Staff was friendly and welcoming and my room was clean, comfortable and relaxing...what else could you ask for?!? The Breakfast buffet had everything and was a really fair deal. If there is anything in a hotel room that I hate it's having to keep the curtains drawn at all times to ensure that people in the hall outside cannot peer into the room. I don't think I should have to stay in a darkened, shaded room in order to get the privacy I expect. Hotel rooms should always have an outside wall to let in the daylight. Had I known that this hotel lacked this, I would have stayed elsewhere. August 9, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Oh those hot summer nights ... The service and staff in the restaurant were very attentive to our large family gathering. I'm sure somewhat relieved once we left. One of the bartenders were overwhelmed and poorly educated when it came to preparing drinks for our crowd, but the other two 'tenders we came in touch with were fine. The AC in our room was extremely noisy - to the point that we could not have it on while we were in the room - making it difficult to sleep on these hot summer nights. Our attempt to have it repaired while we were there was not addressed. Overall the hotel appeared clean and sufficient, although a bit pricey. August 5, 2014

No lighting at the desk for make up and no mirror. With seniors traveling and more business women when are the room designers going to bring in just a few changes to accommodate the female traveler. The only problem I had was a couple fighting in the hallway from 2am-4:30am one night. A call to the front desk didn't solve the problem. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by smoke coming from ventilation The overall service was totally horrible. Smoke from the ventilation and hot a/c made us sleep bad. Cleaning was not completed every time. I had to call the front desk for lack of supplies. When I called, the line always got cut off. Supplies often came late or no show. All the doors were shut in a way that I felt like an earthquake was going on. The hall way was noisy when people were walking by. July 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well run hotel with a convenient location The hotel is right off the Long Island Expressway, exit 46 making it convenient to NYC and Eastern Long Island. The lobby is large and attractive and the hotel staff very accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable, but with a strange pole lamp which had three separate bulbs but only one switch to control one of the bulbs. The swimming area was clean and well maintained and attracted several guests. The dining room was inviting and the food was excellent. The waitstaff was courteous and responsive, especially Max and Miguel. July 24, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for a quick night sleep We were going to a party and were from out of town and needed a quick place to sleep. This hotel gave us that. The person at the front desk was unable to give us proper directions to our room, which was not a good way to start off our night. Then we were told there was only one elevator and it was super slow (and there are only 3 floors). All the windows in the rooms open on to the hall way, which made it tough to get natural light in the room. Our room was clean and let us rest for the night... over all I would stay there again if I had to, but it would not be a place I would go on vacation July 23, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, but don't use recommended taxi company I enjoyed my stay at this Holiday Inn but had a negative experience reserving a taxi through the front desk. The hotel is structured like an enclosed motel, as in the hallways are along the outside of the building (but enclosed with windows), and the guest rooms are in the center of the building. That means your room's window opens to a hallway, not the outside. We kept our curtains closed for this reason. The rooms themselves are good quality, the usual nice/affordable room I'd expect from a Holiday Inn, though our room was somewhat smaller than I'm used to. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant and were happy with the quality and price. Our negative experience was a rough one. We asked the front desk to recommend a taxi service, and the employee I spoke with was nice enough to arrange the taxi for me. I overheard him say "Make sure the guy is on time this time", which was somewhat concerning, though I appreciated this employee's honesty. When the taxi arrived, it was 20 minutes late, despite the dispatcher assuring us the taxi was "right outside". Other hotel employees were trying to tell us that the taxi company is usually on time, but one front desk employee seemed to be trying to avoid our questions about it. Finally the taxi arrived, but the driver took 25 minutes to drive us to a location 5 minutes away. We were unfamiliar with the area but took note of his route to find he was deliberately taking a longer way, even driving past our destination by several miles only to make a U-turn later on. I'd like to say that this 40 minute delay can be written off as "life happens", but it was especially unfortunate for us because it caused us to arrive late to the wedding we were attending. The next day, we approached the front desk at check-out to speak with a manager about the taxi company. The front desk employee we spoke with was hesitant to get the manager, and then when we spoke with the manager we received the same story that "the taxi company is always on time" and that our experience was out of the ordinary. We found that hard to believe after the other front desk employee had very clearly indicated that the taxi company had been late on another occasion and warned them to be on time this time. The manager assured us he would call the taxi company and speak with the manager, and we sincerely hope that he followed through with that. We were guests from out of town and were hoping to rely on the hotel for a local recommendation, and the hotel definitely let us down in that respect. Overall: the hotel is nice, but if you need a taxi, ask which taxi company they use so you know which one not to call. July 22, 2014

The front desk guy who checked me in and out the next morning was really sweet! The only gripe I have is the trip to the elevators but I guess I could have driven car around to the back lol. As soon as I walked in I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the hotel was as well as the room. It was definitely worth the price and the buffet breakfast was great as well. July 10, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet room, comfortable bed but room too small The rooms are too small making everything feel cramped. The bathroom was equally too small and the faucet annoying because it was loose at the base which made it difficult to control the flow. Also, the clerk that checked us in seemed oblivious to our hotel preferences as listed in our guest profile, We had to move our room 3 times and the last room was still not satisfactory. Although she and the other staff were all courteous it seemed this clerk was either playing dumb or did not know how to use her computer properly or worst yet was not being entirely honest. But we did not want to be insulting and did not accuse her of any of the above. However, it did cause us to check out a day earlier. July 9, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HI- Plainview My wife and I were looking for a place to stay close to Jones Beach and the Holiday Inn Plainview-LI was a great location for the price. Only 30 or so minutes from the beach and about an hour (off-peak) train ride to the city! While I did find the bed a little hard, the walls a little thin and the space under the door to the room a little large out overall stay was great. The room, including the bathroom, was very clean and neat. The Business Centre was a little problematic as we weren't able to print due to some software issues and the PC's didn't seem to have full functionality so we ended up going without copies we needed. If we were in the area again we would definitely consider staying at this hotel again! July 2, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean We were in town for a wedding and the bill was adding up so we decided to stay here bc it was one of the cheaper hotels. The hotel has a modern decor which is nice and refreshing. The rooms were nice but on the small side. The bathroom was fine. I did not like the fact that your window was in the hallway. However, you can park right by your room and walk up the stairs. My parents room had a bad bed and was very uncomfortable. My bed was squeaky but ok. The hotel is in a very convenient location right between the LIE and the northern state parkway. It was perfect for us. There is a good chance I would stay there again. July 2, 2014

My only issue with this particular stay was that we didn't have a microwave in our room, when the other rooms clearly had them. June 26, 2014
