I am out for close to 100 nights each year and every one of them at IHG brand hotels. I recently stayed at HI Portland property from December 3rd to the 5th.
I was checked in smoothly, recognized as a Platinum member by staff. When I got to my room, I found a fruit and cheese plate with two bottles of water. The room was clean - no hairs from the previous guest in the shower or dirt on the floor. I was offered a free movie and breakfast coupons during my stay.
The wait staff in the restaurant were attentive and friendly. They made breakfast an enjoyable time.
I did stop by the front desk and asked Nydia and she cheerfully answered my question and helped me out.
This hotel rivals some of the Crowne Plazas I stay in and approaches the level of service I find at an Intercontinental hotel.
My next stay in Portland will be at your hotel if it is not sold out.

It was nice to use the park and fly package. We like the remodel and it has made it a better place to stay.

My room and its amenities such as WiFi as well as the breakfast in the hotel were good. However, the service offered throughout the property was very good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by tuhts great park and fly rate - 30 days parking
i stay here primarily because of the great rate for parking - 30 days free with one night. Hotel is average, not great but certainly worth it, given the price and parking. Staff is helpful but several minor mistakes. Worst mistake was when my wake up call did not occur. Fortunately, i have a back up alarm and it worked out.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MDS16 Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
A stay at this Holiday Inn near the Portland Airport was a mix of planes, trains, and automobiles.
The noise level in the rooms made it difficult for a good night's rest including the noise from TVs and loud talkers next door (thin walls?), the trains going by outside, or the planes arriving/departing PDX.
The rooms were ok ... and just ok. The same is true for the cheap motel toiletries. Nothing really impressive.
There is a laundry room on site. It has 1 washer and 1 dryer. If more than one guest want to use the washer/dryer, plan for a wait. It took me about 3 hours to do a load of clothes.
The front desk and check-in team were professional. No complaints at all. I liked the decor and feel of the lobby with different lounge seats and TVS overlooking the quiet restaurant below.
The main positive and only reason I stayed at this Holiday Inn was the offer of free airport parking (free shuttle to PDX) for guests with a minimum 1-night stay. The parking area is insecure and very, very dark. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my car there, but did. After a week trip, I was relieved to find it there and in good condition.
This Holiday Inn is not recommended for most vacation travelers, but I did find it a good deal by taking advantage of the airport parking option.

We were pleased with the ease of check in. Our room was comfortable and clean. The pillows were to our liking. We used the shuttle service to PDX airport and the drivers were always informative about surrounding areas and even offered to take us to nearby shopping and restaurants. The front desk staff helped us with directions to the city area. We will stay again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by why nicknames Excellent Staff, NOISY TRAINS
I Love the new updated Holiday Inn Express hotels but this hotel let me down. First let me say the staff was some of the best ever doing everything they could to make things better but when the hotel is full moving rooms is not an option.
The hotel is right along a major train track and trains come every 30 minutes all night long and its noisy. I feel something like this should be disclosed on the IHG website as nobody comes to a hotel to lay awake all night irritated. The he hotel is very large and being full there was no parking. I mean NO parking. I had to park well behind the convention center and walk in the rain a ways to the hotel. I will continue to stay at holiday inns but I can not recomend this property.
Also I very much appreciate the hotel comping my breakfast. Very nice but the taste of OLD cooking grease for morning breakfast left me eating at the airport.
