Friendly staff and great management I have been to this same hotel 8 times now and although every time I go I am fully satisfied, it just keeps seeming to get better and better. The staff are like family and the manager Mr. Mark Ind is a wonderful person who takes his job very seriously and goes out of his way to ensure that each and every client has the best possible stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Return visit We last stayed at this hotel about 2 years ago before coming back for another family event in October 2014. We were dissappointed to note that the Callaghans bar is no longer open at weekends. Drinks are available at the hotel bar within the lounge area but lacking the privacy and atmosphere of Callaghans. Also we found that the buffet option in the restaurant was no longer offered unless you were part of a coach tour. On a positive note the hotel is family friendly with very attentive staff. The restaurant food is good and the rooms are all comfortable. Free internet access to IHG members is good although I had to use the helpline to secure access. The service was good and had me on line within a few minutes. October 9, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly service I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Reading-South M4, Jct.11 a few times now and find it just the job for visiting family at Reading University. The staff have a friendly yet professional approach. Check-in and out were both swift and efficient. If you want plush and luxurious then this may not be for you but if you want clean, tidy October 5, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely staff As soon as you walk in to this hotel you feel welcome. The receptionists are friendly and accommodating, they promptly dealt with our booking. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a good nights sleep. There are towels at the swimming pool and we enjoyed the Jacuzzi as well as the pool. The food was very tasty and a good choice on the menu. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout our meal. Over all we all enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A Dated Noisy Hotel - Won't be staying in a hurry This hotel is somewhat dated and noisy to the extent that the room I had constantly vibrated during the night as doors further down the corridor were closed. The bathroom was tiny and badly maintained. The front desk staff were miserable/disinterested/rude. I don't normally complain even if my stay wasn't great. When checking out, if the front desk staff enthusiastically ask "how was your stay" I would politely respond with "fine thanks". When checking out of this hotel the front-desk staff didn't ask. The only positive feedback was that the restaurant staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Overall there are other ihg hotels nearer the city centre to stay at and would not be visiting this one in any kind of hurry. September 24, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, everything else was mediocre at best I arrived just before 11pm and found the car park was completely full, with many cars parked at the end of rows and in the entry / exit routes. After abandoning my car on a grass verge, I made my way inside to check in, where I was 'greeted' by a young, fairy dissinterested male behind reception. The check in process was fairly swift, but completely devoid of personality, and I was soon struggling to my room with an overnight bag, laptop, suit/dress carier and handbag. I followed instruction and headed through the double doors to discover that my room was up two flights of stairs - surely the young man behind reception should have offered to help with my bags?! I eventually made it to my room, to discover it smelt like somebody had left an old pair of sweaty socks warming on the radiator. Definitely not the best holiday inn experience I've ever had, but unfortunately not the worst either! September 16, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by quiet depsite its size First impressions after you've booked in and are making your way to your room is that this is a big and slightly ugly hotel with long long corridors - for this reason you expect the hotel to be noisy. But despite it being full when I stopped it was quiet and thus provided me with a good night sleep. Breakfast was good and staff friendly. September 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel felt tired I stayed one night here. The staff are all very friendly and attentive but I fear some of the facilities in the hotel weren't up to much. When I arrived at my bedroom I sat down on the settee and practically fell through it. There were cobwebs all over the ceiling, the bed linen was ripped, the bathroom was tiny and the shower had no water pressure and I couldn't get any Wi-Fi in the hotel unless I was prepared to pay for it! (although I had the codes for the free Wi-Fi as a reward club member). The health club is very small and the equipment could do with updating and cleaning, not sure why they need security locks on the doors to the changing rooms, you need to get a member of staff to unlock them every time you want to get in there. To be honest I would go for a purple/white hotel next time. That aside, the conference facilities were very good, no complaints there. September 12, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor experience wouldn't re-stay Being a platinum member I get plenty of opportunities to compare hotels. This was a very poor experience, I ordered fish and chips and the peas were cold, I had to ask for the bread which should have come with the meal and by the time it arrived my meal was finished. The room air conditioning was stuck on cool so the room was freezing! My TV kept going off and then back on as though the cable was loose however I checked and all seemed fine. Work to do to get this holiday inn up to scratch. September 6, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very Noisy I probably booked the wrong hotel. Because of the close proximity to the airport the type of clientele it attracts are holiday makers on a stopover from the airport, noisy and with boisterous children that they have absolutely no control over. These children (and some adults) spent half the night roaming the hallways shouting at each other and stopping everyone from sleeping. No lifts, which made it difficult to negotiate three heavy suitcases to and from the rooms up staircases, especially as some of the hallway doors only open in one direction (pull). Children's food was awful; bland, dry, cold, unimaginative and a dessert with an eyelash hair on it. Breakfast time was absolutely awful, hundreds of people shouting at each other and the same unruly kids running wild. I will book a different Holiday Inn next time. September 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly, Welcoming and Relaxed The Holiday Inn in Reading South has friendly and efficient staff and provides a comfortable base for visiting the Reading and Berkshire area. The rooms are of good size and are clean and comfortable. I stay regularly and always find that I sleep well. The restaurant has good quality of food and the breakfast is excellent. I commend a number of staff members including Anna (who looked after our room very well), Ilana (I think), Dave (the breakfast chef - great poached eggs and bacon) and Antonio. September 3, 2014

Pros:- * Large rooms * Clean * Great friendly staff, especially Heath staff * Heath club, with gym, pool, sauna etc. * Lots of parking * Lots of nearby takeaways, i.e. KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonalds etc Cons:- * Room decor is old and outdated * Room heating did not work well September 2, 2014

At first the WIFI is not free which is strange for the 4 star Hotel, however you could get a free 24 hr voucher by registering on the holiday in membership. Location is a bit out of the way from the center, but bus link from the city center, but since I was on a business trip and the office was quite close to the hotel, so it was a positive point. Only wish I was staying for longer, to make use of the swimming pool. September 1, 2014

Last stay was good but not as good as other stays, compared to most HI's this hotel is excellent and above average, but because this hotel normally set the bar so high with exceptional quality and service you notice it when something isn't done. Assistant manager called for feedback following my stay, this was very nice and made me feel like a valued customer. August 29, 2014

Location is a bit out of the way for people without a car, but bus link from the city center is perfectly adequate. Only wish I was staying for longer, to make use of the swimming pool. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It did the job...... Stayed for the weekend to go to the Reading festival and did the job perfectly. The room, a triple, which was a double and a makeshift bed although not ideal was ok I was expecting 3 single beds but did not check so that was down to me! The bathroom was functional if a little tired but the power shower was great!!! Staff were courteous and friendly and breakfast was good. Overall a good hotel, free car park and only a couple of mile from Reading centre which equates to a £12 taxi ride or £1.50 on the bus. Hope this helps :) August 28, 2014
