Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Closed for renovation We knew about the lobby remodeling, so that was probably why we were able to book on 1 days notice. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. I hope there will be something on the Riverwalk once it reopens. They offered 25% off if we booked in the next 6 months. In spite of the remodel & inconvenience it was OK. We just slept there and enjoyed the marvelous Riverwalk. We used our Priority Reward points. March 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Hotel was horrible Let me start by saying if you have something on your website that is wrong than you need to remove it! Hotel is going thru a remodel, website states the fitness room would be open Monday Feb 25 and it was not (did not open for the entire week) the hotel even had signs telling customers where the workout room was. If it’s not open than take the signs down. I base my hotels on workout rooms and restaurants. Your restaurant was horrible, you make a conference room the restaurant and bar that was horrible. Breakfast was the worst food I have ever had, it was cold and just horrible and yet you continue to charge your customers full price for this service. Dinner was just as bad as breakfast, one evening I sat in the make shift restaurant for an hour and I was the only one in there waiting for my salad with chicken and it never came. When I asked the staff they informed me the kitchen was extremely backed up with room service. At this point i got up and told them they could bring it to my room. I will not be staying in this hotel ever again and I have alot of work that I will be doing in the area of this hotel. Extremely disappointed March 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Treated LIke a King This was my firs time to stay at Holiday Inn using my Priority Club Rewards points. Was I ever SURPRISED!!! The staff treated my wife and I like royality. We were given an upgrade to a VERY NICE two room suite and all of this didn't cost us a dime. The hotel is undergoing renovation but it was only a minor inconvenience. Enjoyed the close proximity to the River Walk and the great view from the balcony. I recommend everyone join the IHG Priority Club Rewards. Can't wait until my next stay at Holiday Inn. March 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good idea! Rooms were nice, but that was about it. Staff was nice overall. Over priced for what is currently available. Renovations made just about everything a nightmare to deal with. Getting to the elevators and figuring out which ones to take to check in was to say the least, confusing. I was the bell hop for several people checking in, because they couldn't figure out how to get to the elevators or had trouble pushing their carts around the tight corners to get there, especially the elderly group from Arkansas. Only one elevator went to river level and it was a guess to whether you got it out of the 4 possibilities. Construction made meetings in the banquet rooms noisy. No wash rags or shower rug left on fourth night. Ice machines worked if you were willing to go up 2 floors. There were other issues, but you get the idea. Would not recommend this place for the current price, and I would have stayed somewhere else if I had only known. March 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wait till construction complete The location is great. We were a short walk to everything in downtown. The new rooms are very nice. I would wait until the construction is totally finished since the lobby and restaurant areas were totally closed. March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location and renovated hotal Excellent management, clean, new rooms with comfortable beds and excellent location March 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy Was not notified of the construction that was going on in the hotel. I recommended this to some of our best friends and we reimbersed them out of our own pocket for this disaster The picture on the internet was an example of complete false advertising. March 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Bad Weekend Get Away!!!!!!!! First of all the hotel was under rentovations and it was a complete mess. We left our home for a weekend AWAY from remodeling and walked right back into it. WE WERE NOT PREWARNED. It was noisy banging way to early in the mornings. NONE of the ice makers worked, when we ask a maid to help us she would not. We were put in a room that ajoined another and it was so loud I thought those people were in our room. We ask for a comment card and of course, you gessed it. They don't have any. NEVER AGAIN March 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WARNING and under construction We decided to valet park ($28/day). The valets were not nice at all. You would think that for $28/day they could manage manners. They didn't tell us that the hotel is under construction and you can't even access the river through the hotel. You have to walk through the dust and cigarette smoke to the street and then walk through a sketchy part of street to the river. The elevators are in major need of repairs. They didn't work properly. We were stuck on one for 10 minutes. It would go up, when it was supposed to go down, and stop on floors that weren't even requested. Once we got to our room, the AC was broken. We tried calling the front desk but the phone didn't work. My husband had to brave the elevator to go to the lobby. They sent someone but he only took a part off and said that would have to do, because the electrician had left for the day. The AC never worked properly. The bed was horrible. It was so hard, that concrete would have been softer. We ended up using the pullout bed on the second night. The biggest thing is that we had to walk through the construction every time we wanted to go somewhere. I have asthma and the dust and cigarette smoke made me instantly wheeze. There should be a warning, so that those with health problems aren't made sick because the hotel wants to make a buck. On the up side, the staff was nice at the restaurant. March 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Door issues The lock on our room door was defective. The repair man repaired it after 3 attempts. The next day the maid did not close the door properly and again the room was not locked. The repair man stated that our room was not the first room to have this issue since the rooms had been updated, thus the maid should know how to properly close a door and all doors should have been examined prior to renting them out. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by "ANNIVERSARY GET AWAY" WE STAYED THERE THIS PAST FRIDAY THRU Sunday FEB.22-24. ALL I CAN SAY THAT IT WAS GREAT!!!!!! WE HAVE BEEN DRURY PLAZA CUSTOMERS FOR OVER 6 YEARS AND WE HAVE TO DECIDED TO BE "HOLIDAY INN" CUSTOMERS FOR THE REST OF OUR TRIPS TO THE RIVER WALK. THE KING SIZE SUITE WAS WONDERFULL....THE BED WAS FIRM AND THE VIEW WAS NICE(ROOM 2107). THE BREAKFAST THAT WE PURCHASED REALLY TASTED LIKE BREAKFAST. THE GOING TO AND FROM THE RIVER WALK( DUE TO HOPPING ELAVATORS).....THAT WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT....BUT WE MADE IT ANT WAY......WHAT I DIDNT CARE FOR WAS THE 19.50 A NITE PARKING.....WE DIDNT GO ANY WHERE....BUT O WELL WE WILL STILL GO BACK!!!!! SEE YOU GUYS IN SEPTEMBER!!!! February 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by San Antonio Riverwalk HOliday Inn Yes, the place was under construction and inconvenient to get in and out. But the staff was very pleasant, the new room clean and comfortable. I would have liked a small refrig. Close to everything downtown; so easy to walk to everything. Rate was adjusted for conference and I was very pleased. I would stay here again. February 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by disapointing stay I travel and stay with holiday inn all across the country. I used my reward points that I saved up over a year to go on a little getaway with my girlfriend. When I arrived at the hotel all i saw was construction everywhere.. the guest checkin was located on the 7th floor temporarily, because the entire entrance and lower floors of the hotel were under massive recontruction. I was not informed of this renovation as i had been in the past.. very disapointed .. heard construction most of the day and even had to let plumbers in my room to change out a faucet.. that was new and in perfect working condition.. I picked this hotel because of the resturaunt on the riverwalk..which wasnt even there when i arrived... It was on the 7th floor were the temporary lobby was where everyone is walking through the garage!! terrible stay!! February 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by San Antonio -Riverwalk Other than the construction going on at the bottom level (even on sunday and Monday which was Presidents Holiday) it's a very nice establishment. The Hotel was located conveniently in the downtown area close to everything. Rooms were spacious and beds were quite comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only complaint was that the breakfast buffet was a little pricey. All in all, I would visit this hotel again, maybe during the holdays at some point. Love the riverwalk. February 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Room but terrible entrance Everyone we met was very nice and helpful. The problem was due to construction. Entrance into the Hotel was all construction enclosed. Our luggage had to 'bump' up steps to get to the elevator. Our car was parked on the 6th floor and had to use the steps to get to the 7th floor to enter the hotel - no elevator. I am sure it is going to be outstanding when the construction is done - it is just too bad we were there before it was. Great rooms!!! February 20, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I have stayed at this Holiday Inn 3 other times, and have recommended it to friends and family. However, this time I was not prepared for what was encountered. First of all, the rate was increased by $40 per night because it was during a main event. I thought that was ridiculous, but went ahead and paid for it because I knew the hotel was safe and clean. Upon arrival, the hotel was under major rennovations. Check in was done in a banquest room, with plywood covering most of the walkways. It gave me an "unsafe" feel about the location. Then, we had guests next door that partied all night, and were extremely loud. When we complained, they quieted for a few hours, but were back again partying and we could not rest. This was a lot of money to pay for such an uncomfortable experience. I was very disappointed. February 18, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible! Harassed all night! It was a bad time for me to use this hotel as they were remodeling, which I didn't know. They could not accommodate my Silverado 3500, stating it was too large. It was recommended that I park a block or to away from the hotel. It was dark and I told them I was afraid for my safety by parking so far from the hotel. However, the gentleman at the Valet said I could leave it there until called his boss. Called his boss and left a message (cell Ph). The lady @ the front desk called about my truck. Told her what I was instructed to do. Asked her to connect me with the hotel mgr. Mgr. was not in. Left a mess for mgr. Then later the Valet guy called for me to move my truck! Told him I was still waiting on call from the Parking Mgr. neither the hotel or parking mgr. returned my call that night. Then I went to bed. Sleeping soundly, I was awaken at 11:10 p.m. asking me to move my truck! Livid, I called the national office and complained. The next day I had to pay the usual $26 valet fee & was harassed all night! Hated it! I was glad to check out of there & never to return!! Don't go there! February 17, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by maybe good after renovations Simple:Poorly run property -No notice that the Hotel was under renovations -Check in was less than pleasant -Room was renovated-Room smelled strong of Paint. Had to open the window to breath normally -Room service was slow (estimated 30 minutes and it took over 1 hour for chicken fingers, Thick cut chips and a soda) not a tough order. Chips were cold and oily, Chicken was warm on the outside and cold on the inside and the soda ordered was not on the tray. When brought to the room service attendant, she suggested I go to the soda machine. I showed her that it was on the bill and she reluctantly agreed to to get it for me. An hour later and a phone call to Room service again, she finely showed up. Not what I had expected. Overall, my stay was Horrible! February 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great room everything fresh Close to the Riverwalk. Still doing renavations but that was ok. Got an excellent price for our room. Untill you start adding all the taxes on. Could hear some noise in the room next too us but didn't keep us from sleeping. Once this hotels is done March 2013 it will be beautiful. February 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by WARNING - CONSTRUCTION SITE! Do not stay here until the construction is over, and as of 2/8/13 it is not even close to complete. This hotel is an absolute disaster right now. It is loud and you have to follow a poorly marked unfinished drywall maze to get to the elevators and ultimately to the temporary front desk on the 7th floor. Front desk staff was surly, but in the past they were better so I am chalking that up to them being under stress from the construction. The room renovation was complete, but it was very loud. Elevators do not seem to be part of the renovation and they are old, slow and smell musty. I will try this hotel again in March when they promise construction will be complete. If they were not accurate, the next review will be worse! It would have been better to shut down totally during the renovation. February 13, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Location and service Great place to stay if you want to enjoy the city of San Antonio. They are in the process of re-modeling and should be better when they are done. February 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Construction We love staying at the Holiday Inn Riverwalk....love the location.... But this time was a little frustrating. With so much Renovation going on, if you parked yourself you the had to walk up one or two flights of stairs with luggage (and stuff). My suggestion would be that they offer valet parking to ALL at the self parking rates. Our newly renovated room was beautiful..... Love the floors.. The bathroom..etc..etc..etc. was .just an effort to get in and out of the hotel..... Can't wait to come back after renovation is complete. Just please don't raise the prices to a point that we are not able to stay there :) February 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by great staff , cold floors Location was perfect, staff was wonderful, but I really missed the soft warm carpet under my feet. February 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice rooms We had a meeting at this location. They were under construction but we all stayed in the newly renovated rooms. Everyone had good things to say and will come back. Nice proximity to the river and restaurants. February 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Under construction but still liveable The hotel is in the final stages of an extreme makdover (supposed to be complete sometime in February 2013), but it should be very nice once finished. We had a King Suite on the 23rd floor kind of overlooking the Riverwalk (you have to kind of lean out to see it). My wife really liked the bathroom mirror and wants me to find one for our bathroom at home. Both rooms are very large and comfortable. One suggestion: put a phone in both rooms. February 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 New room Overall expirence was marred by the construction going on. No garage elevator, having to use the service elevator to access the River Walk took up to a 10 minute wait on most trips. The hotel did not mention the construction when making the reservations. Would not recommend staying here until construction is complete. February 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Helpful I would like to tell you I am most pleased with my stay at the HI here in San Antonio. The room was excellent, comfortable and very clean. But the best was the service by the hotel staff, from the Kitchen staff to the cleaning staff. The best came when we wanted to depart. My battary in my car was deader then a doornail. The parking attendant (Jarred) was extremely helpful, and was able to get started in a matter of minutes. HE was very helpful and was able to get us the help we needed within minutes. This may not seem like much, but we were checked out and ready to depart to our next destination. HE went far above his regular duties of parking a car and made our departure timely. Thank you Jared (I hope that the right name). HE was polite and very helpful. HE made out trip complete and San Antonio a pleasant place to visit. Great information and directions all with a smile and professionalism to boot. Location of our hotel was ideal for getting around to the sights, close to the Alamo, shops, bars, resturaunts and Riverside aea. I'll be back to the same place again in the future! February 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by under construction This location is under construction. The posted signs indicate this will continue throughout 2013. The construction starts at 8 am and continues all day. The restaurant is closed exept for the limited morning breakfast buffet. The lounge has been relocated to a banquet area. The location is good. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. overall only an acceptable experience. February 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Watch out for bathroom fixtures This hotel was under major remodeling construction while we were there. Unfortunately, that was not communicated to us when we made the reservation so we had no idea how intrusive the construction would be to us enjoying our stay. On top of that, we were given a room that had been recently remodeled, and our toilet overflowed while we were out leaving large puddles of water in the bathroom. When we returned we called the front desk to tell them about it and they said they would send someone right up. I guess that "someone" didn't get the memo since no one ever showed up. I went down to the desk to tell them about it and they said we could move to another room which we did. I thought that for our troubles we would be comped at least one night but no, we were charged the full amount for our stay. February 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A great choice after renovations Yes, there was lots of construction, but the noise helped me get up and get to the conference I was attending. The new rooms are very nice and modern and I really enjoyed my room, especially the nice bathroom with good lighting. Yes, there is space between the door and the floor, so I shoved a towel in the crack every night. The staff were very nice. The hotel is is a convenient walk to most of the restaurants and sites located downtown. My biggest complaint was the drunk high school & college kids there for a couple of formals and that was not the hotel's fault. February 1, 2013
