It would have been nice if you could control the temperature in the living room area. If you closed the bedroom door the living room was warm. I do not know why the hotel charges a destination fee every night, this should be included in the price of the room. July 4, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel has gone "down hill" since my last stay......... I had phoned ahead by several days to give the front desk my Platinum Elite IHG number to be put on my reservation, which they kindly did. I asked for a room on the upper floor on a quieter side of the hotel which they made notation of all of this. Upon arrival, I was welcomed as a Platinum Elite customer of IHG at the front desk. I then asked if I would receive an upgrade, since upgrades are automatic for Platinum Elite members at IHG hotels if they have the availability. The person at the front desk told me that there would be an upcharge for an upgrade, which surprised me in light of the IHG policy for Platinum Elite members. I then asked if that charge would apply since I was a Latium Elite member. She said that they would see what they could do. She checked, and there were no rooms available in the next upgrade for me. OK, fine, I understood this. I then found out that I had been put on the 2nd floor - not the 7th or 8th floor of the hotel as I had requested..............and then to top it all off, I had a room facing the noisy street - not a quieter side of the hotel as I had requested. The room "stank" - like it had been closed up for quite a while and was kind of musty and possibly had been smoked in - even though it was a non smoking hotel. I had asked previously if the windows opened, and was told that they did not open. So, by the time I had my luggage up in the room, I decided I would live with it. The first night there was pretty poor - due to the order in the room and the stuffiness. The next day, I had a chat with two other guests in the hotel. One told me that his room smelled so musty that he phoned the front desk and they sent someone from housekeeping to spray something to freshen it up which ended up being a lengthy process. The second guest told me that her room smelled like "smelly feet". She had found vents that open up under the windows to allow some air in the room. I opened the vents and it made a big difference in my room. Why when I asked if the windows opened, I was not told by the hotel staff about the vents, I don't know. After that my stay there was ok. My previous stays in this hotel had been nice...........so it appears things are going "down hill" with this IGH Property. So, if you are a Platinum Elite member, don't expect to be treated like one at this hotel. June 23, 2014

We booked specifically because the restaurant features a gluten free menu which was perfect as my mother is gluten intolerant. The service left much to be desired. It was slow and the wait staff was forgetful. The food was ok but I wouldn't rave about it. They need to hire better/properly trained wait staff and more of them as that was the one servers excuse for the poor service, that they were under staffed. June 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality room and great service for a reasonable price I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights of business meetings and a conference at Brock University. The Hotel itself is excellent with great staff, comfortable rooms and good service. The restaurant has great service staff. The food is lack lustre and the décor is dated although everything was clean. The selections in the restaurant were limited and geared toward the steakhouse theme. The hotel is located in a commercial area with two restaurants close by. If I have the opportunity to visit St. Catharines again, I'd stay here but would rent a car although bus service was easily accessible as well as comfortable and affordable. June 11, 2014

The check in person was better than the check out woman who was busy chatting with a friend. In future, I would hire people who want to serve the guests and really like hospitality, rather than those who simply need a job. Good service is an art! I did not see it at this hotel. June 9, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by overall stay So i just wanted to let you know that i thought it was ridiculous that i had to pay an extra 8 dollars for the pool and fitness on my bill as well as a deposit of 50 dollars on top of my bill for an added expense, i was not impressed by this at all, and the breakfast was not included in my stay and if i wanted it i had to pay another 10 dollars a person June 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room. High end features. I booked a 2 night stay as I was attending a conference. I booked the Holiday Inn without big expectations. Just another hotel. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and well-equipped it was. My "standard room" had a high end bathroom, including a soaker tub right close to the bed/tv. Awesome to soak and watch a movie at the same time. Room service was always really quick and the food was excellent. You are able to pre-order your breakfast the night before and specify exact time you want delivered. Nice touch. The restaurant has creative and delicious choices and the prices are reasonable. A fully stocked Timothy's in the lobby was really convenient after a long day at business conference. I will definitely choose a Holiday Inn the next time I need a hotel. I expected it to be on par with a Days Inn but it was so much better! June 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A few small things but it's probably just me... The hotel is clean and very attractive on the inside. Our room was clean and the bathroom was good too. The lighting in the bathroom was fluorescent and that was different from what I'm used to - this caused me to pull my make up bag out and touch up some things before we headed to dinner! Dinner was tasty but the bill was shocking. There were little upcharges that we were not informed of when we ordered and the cost of 2 draft beers was more than any of the food! The bowling alley was also very pricey but it was Friday night and they run specials during the week. The a/c unit woke me up at 6am and continued to wake me every 15 minutes until I decided it wasn't worth it and got up at 730...not really sleeping in when you don't have your kids on the trip! Again, probably just me being a light sleeper, everything else was great and I would stay there again - but I'd turn the a/c off or set it differently! June 3, 2014

I consider this an insult and this will be my last stay at this hotel - if only for the principle of it! May 19, 2014

The room was large and well furnished , but the heater in the room could not be used.The extra blankets helped.Also there was a charge of 3.99 for a bottle of water Other Holiday Inns we have stayed in provided bottled water free of charge April 8, 2014

This is the first time since I became a Priority/Rewards Club member that there was no recognition of this at the hotel, other than the clerk mentioning at check-in that they have my rewards number. I was told about the overpriced bottle of wine and water in my room if I wanted to buy it, but otherwise nothing. If it wasn't for this, my overall rating would have been higher as this is a nice hotel. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. April 1, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Check in time delayed We were extremely disappointed with the reception we received at this hotel. Check in was for 4:00 and we did not get our room until 5:30. We booked the hotel as part of a promotional pricing offered for the Kevin Faggen hockey tournament. There were a number of other people from our team that experienced the same problem with late check in. I can appreciate that the hotel was running at capacity by why wouldn't you staff accordingly. Later that night we went to the hotel restaurant and again experienced long delays with service. March 24, 2014
