Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great facility for kids tournaments Stayed here 22 - 24 Nov 2014, in town for a weekend long Ringette Tournament for my daughters team. Excellent facilty to stay for a tournament, nice sized suites so parents can socialize after the games. Our room and beds were very comfortable with all rooms having a refridgerator to store breakfast foods for the kids prior to early mornig games. The girls enjoyed the pool, but did complain that it was small. My only complaints are that the restaurant was very cold temperature wise and that we had the rudest waitress I have seen in years at the attached J.J. Kapps restaurant. We had booked a team meal on Saturday evening for I believe it was 25 adults and kids. They had reserved a nice sized room that comfortably accomadated our party. The food was good and was brought out in a timely manner. The waitress that took our orders was very rude and abrupt to a number of people. In my experience it is unusual for all adults in a party especially when seated at different tables to come away from a meal with the same comment, all agreed that this lady was not a good waitress and had a bad attitude. the rest of the wait staff were excellent. It is a great fun family stay with indoor bowling , indoor JJ Kapps restuarant and indoor Timothy's coffee with snacks- I love the added freezer section where you can buy someting to microwave in your room ! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty Room The room was cold and damp dispite the in room heater, and dirty! There was loose change and futune cookie messages under the bedskirt, they're were children's dirty handprints all over the tv bureau and a niice dark long hair under my pillow... We were NOT impressed! As well... check in had no room key due to computer issues, everytime we left the room and wanted back in, house keeping had to escort us in. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wouldn't do this again In general the room provide was generic, however, the music piped in to the lobby was so loud that it penetrated the room. The fridge was so loud that it made it difficult to sleep. When checking out a simple request for the bill was met with confusion and no resolution. I would not recommend this hotel. October 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel When I stayed the night in St. Catharines I was extremely happy with our choice of Holiday Inn & Conference Centre in St. Catharines. This was a hotel that went above and beyond for both the decor of the room itself and the along with having helpful and courteous staff. We had an amazing suite that offered a spacious living room/kitchen alongside a beautiful bathroom and spacious bedroom. It is seconds off the QEW and minimal kilometers from downtown. Easy access along with meets the demands of getting to the downtown core. Having stayed in many hotels I definitely will always stay here when I'm visiting St. Catharines. I strongly recommend this Hotel if visiting the St Catharines area for either a conference or vacation. :) October 19, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Rooms, Staff not so We did not get the rate we were quoted with central booking. The staff member we had to deal with was not too friendly. Actually a little rude, she commented on the shirt I was wearing. She said that we should have known that the rate would not apply to all the guest we were bringing. I felt this should had been brought to my attention when I was booking the rooms. On the flip side the rooms were freshly renovated and comfortable. Still doesn't make up for the extra costs and staff with attitude. October 2, 2013

My colleagues and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in St.Catharines once again but only this weekend, we were all given a suite with a living room/dining room and was great! I also found the rooftop terrace bar lounge and it is most relaxing and great after working all day at the Niagara Wine Fest there. October 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean comfortable room and great lobby The lobby is very welcoming with the reception and friendly front desk staff. It feels like coming home with the sofas and chairs and computers easily available. The coffee shop is fantastic as well. We had breakfast vouchers included with the room and the breakfast buffet food in the restaurant is great because the coffee/tea is included but not on the voucher menu if ordered from there which I think it should be as well. The room is nice and clean and comfortable. Will be staying here again next time I am in St.Catharines. September 26, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable but Internet did not work Hotel is fresh and clean. Wifi did not work for our iPads anywhere in the hotel except the restaurant. Even the desktops in the "business centre" were very slow. Staff said they called somebody but did not resolve the problem. They did not care enough to give us a follow up phone call. No apologies. At check out, I was surprised by a "facility charge". No one explained it at check in. Not a big amount but... September 5, 2013

Our suite was one of the nicer we have seen in our years of travel. very impressive; mattress and bedding were very comfortable - enjoyed a really good nights' sleep. All the staff - manager, front desk and cleaning personnel were cooperative and helpful and accommodated all requests to make our stay comfortable. The coffee bar in the lounge is a delight. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dog friendly hotel In the summer of 2012 and 2013 we visited this hotel and on both occasions we had a very pleasant experience. The hotel staff are professional and friendly. The room is updated and looked perfectly clean (something I have high expectations for). We were travelling with dogs which the staff genuinely welcomed and accommodated. The only 2 less than perfect points to mention were some initial difficulty with the t.v., which may have been due to a storm, and the bathroom fan did not seem to work in room 318. We also enjoyed the Timothy's coffee shop just beside the lobby and if we had more time the 6th floor balcony/patio looked like a lovely place to have a drink on a warm evening. August 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by great staff and quiet room Just needed one night en route and wanted to be away from Niagara Falls crowds. Hotel looks new outside but room felt old inside. Air conditioner worked but could not adjust temp so had to unplug it for sleeping. Otherwise it was quiet in the room for sleeping even though we were near the elevator. Guests seemed super courteous and quiet, a nice change from slamming doors and kids yelling in the corridors at other hotels. Staff was very helpful for answering questions. Restaurant had delicious pasta bar. Outdoor patio on 6th floor was a nice place for a glass of wine but would have enjoyed it more if it was non-smoking. August 26, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Affordable, family friendly, comfortable beds, great amenities This hotel was very nice....we were upgraded to a suite with no questions asked as we had two children, one which was 10 months old and the other seven years old so it was nice to have the extra space. Having the restaurant attached to the hotel was also convenient and served great food at affordable prices. The bowling alley offered family entertainment as well as the pool and hot tub. It was in a good location as we were about 15 min from Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families and anyone who is looking for a great deal. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value with Rewards Program If you want to avoid the businest of Niagara Falls and Niagara -on-the-Lake, this is a great location, and only minutes away from lots of attractions. The hotel staff were friendly and provided excellent service, offering us great value during our 2 night stay. Room service and restaurant food was delicious and we felt we got good value, price wise. Service in the lounge/bar was excellent with a nice young female staff being very friendly and happy hour drink prices were well worth it. To Have our pet on site is a great feature of the hotel. Enjoyed the onsite sauna, and hope that the hotel would consider an outdoor pool in the future, would be a big added bonus, but glad to have indoor pool. Will definitely return to this location, as I love collecting my reward points through Holiday Inn locations. August 21, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Stay in the last 2 years Arrived at the hotel, the reception staff were ok. They gave me a room close to the stairs. I went to have diner at the hotel restaurant, and ordered shrimps skewers with rice. The shrimps were extremely over cooked, while the rice was crunchy and under cooked. The price were okay, but the food was not good. Upon my return to my room I heard children running in the corridor and I called the front desk to see if it was possible to either get another room or arrange for the children to stop running in the hall way. I was told that since the hotel was in renovation, I could not have another room, and nothing was done to advise the children. Up early I tried to go the the hotel gym at 5:00 in the morning of Wednesday. My card could not unlock the gym door so I went to ask the front desk staff if they could open the gym for me, which they refused stating that the gym opens at 6:00...first time a hotel refuses to let me in a gym because of the time. I went back to my room and went tot he gym at 6:00 , out of the gym at 7:30 I stopped at the hotel coffee bar to get a coffee and a bagel..I was told that the coffee bar did not open before 8:00. I was booked for 1 night on the Tuesday, and was supposed to return on the Thursday night. My business travels changed and I needed to cancel my Thursday reservation which I attempted to do with the staff at the front desk on the Wednesday morning. Not only did the Manager refused to cancel my reservation but she told me that I had a choice between getting a credit that I need to take in the next 90 days, or to cancel my reservation while having a fee of 36%. I will never return to this hotel ever again, and I believe that it is damageable to the IHG name and overall reputation. August 19, 2013
