Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Had an excellent time staying here. Great staff. Great hotel. On occasion I stay elsewhere when in Sydney, but this is always my preferred hotel. The customer service is first rate and the reception and other staff are consistently friendly, helpful and professional. They have obviously been very well selected and trained. The facilities and amenities are good, and over the years I've seen some of the world's most recognisable celebrities relaxing in the lobby or lounge bar. However, the hotel is unpretentious. Security is good, and the location is excellent. The view of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House is a bonus, if you stay in a Harbour View room. It's a great hotel to be in for the New Years Eve celebrations. There are excellent cafes in Victoria Street, and a vibrant night life next door in Kings Cross. However, if you don't want to visit the pubs, eateries, cafes or other establishments of Kings Cross itself, you can leave and return to the hotel without ever having to set foot in the Cross. Often overlooked is that there is an elevator in the street only metres from the main entrance to the hotel, which takes you from Potts Point straight down into the heart of Kings Cross Station. Sydney's public transport system is world class. You can step out of the hotel and be en route to destinations all over Sydney within a matter of minutes. Thank you to management and staff. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Potts Point Stayed here for the NYE cellebrations, the location is brilliant with the Cross up the road and the Woolloomoloo wharf and Sydney Harbour 15 minitues walk away. Here we found the famous Harry d wheels cafe pies, great pubs and restaurants. Another 10 minutes walk and we were at Lady Macquaries chair over looking the Opera House. Great staff at this hotel made our stay a breeze and the rrom views across the Harbour awesome... we will return. Thanks to all the staff Glynn and Kelly January 9, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Value, Great Location I've been staying here for years. Great location, walking distance to great bars, restaurants, cafes and boutiques. It's on the bus and train routes too - easy access to the city or beaches. The staff are genuinely helpful and knowledgable of the local area and beyond. It's also used by airline crew for staff layovers (always a good sign!!). My advice - get out and walk - stroll down Macleay Street, walk to Circular Quay via Wooloomooloo and the Domain along the habour foreshore. Wander through Elizabeth Bay and Rushcuuters Bay, along the waterfront to Darling Point, Catch the 325 or 324 bus to Watsons Bay for fish-n-chips. Have a bear at Darlo Bar, the Kings Cross Hotel or the Green Park Hotel followed by an awesome Thai dinner somewhere.... January 7, 2013

The Hotel is technically in Kings Cross which is the red light district but its set back enough not to feel like it is 'in your face', it is also close enough to lovely Macleay Street and the cafes of Victoria Street to fully redeem itself. Staff were very friendly and service was great, I would 100% recommend and stay here again. January 7, 2013

The hotel is in an excellent location and the view of the Harbour Bridge was spectacular. There is only a short walk to the Botanic Gardens and Opera House. We will definitely stay there again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed We stayed with our 12 year old for 2 nights in a 2 double-bed room. We arrived Sydney around 7am, and thought we would have to wait till 2pm to check-in. However the receptionist gave us our room upon our arrival, so we could unpack and start our sightseeing for the day immediately. Although the furnitures and in particular, the bathroom, seemed a little dated, the room and bedding was very clean. The bed was comfortable, and there were different pillows (soft and firm) to choose so we really did sleep well, and better than other hotels we had stayed (we moved to other hotels so we drove less to get to Hunter Valley and Blue Mountain...). Breakfast was good. The hotel has an underground car park - which is reasonable cost. The hotel location was very easy to find and convenient for driving. I think it is also right next to the train station. Overall we were pleased with the hotel. January 3, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy Student Dorm As this hotel is located in the nightclub area of Potts Point, the hotel is full of young people on the weekends who are coming and going all hours of the night. We were unable to get a good nights sleep for one week and felt that we were staying in a student dorm. Within one week, the hotel's alarm was set-off twice during the early morning hours(ie. approximately 2:30am and 3:00am, respectly) by one of the hotel's party-goers. The carpet in our room was badly stained and the security latch was unhinged from the door. Given the high price we paid for the room, this hotel is not good value. January 2, 2013

Such easy access to the city, one train stop, plu an interesting part of town to just go for a walk! Staff are all very pleasant and customer service excellent. It has great parking underneath, but is also right next to a train station, so getting around the city or outer reaches of Sydney is easy. The Staff are excellent, and will assist with anything they can, the restaurant is good, but there are so many Cafes and Restaurants within walking distance, it is hard to choose. I have stayed at many other hotels in Sydney over the years, but this one is all round the best for me. It is right in the heart of Sydney action, but is a quiet, safe and comfortable place to return to for a great rest and relaxation. December 16, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Our Sydney Vacation This was our 4th visit to Sydney but our 1st stay at the hotel. Convenience at the doorstep literally - the train network is just next door! The Family room was comfortable enough for 4 - two adults and two kids - with queen size beds to boot. With a hotel staff like Jared! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by service and charges We arrived at the hotel (from the airport) at 10:00 am (after a very long trip in Sydney's CBD#. We could not get into our room before 14:00 and it seemed like there was no special effort to arrange for an early check in. Also: as loyal club members we were granted free WiFi in Hong Kong. Why can't this arrangement also apply to your hotels in Australia #we are flying today to Melbourne, where we booked the Crown Plaza, and it would be nice to receive complimentary Wi Fi in this hotel)? In genral, the price of the hotel is OK, but the additions of the WiFi and parking charges are very expenssive. November 28, 2012

The staff are friendly and helpful, breakfasts are very good in the Sirocco and the waiters at dinner are always there to ask how it is, etc. The location is great being right next to the entrance of the Kings Cross subway station - ever so handy for hopping on the train. But it's also not a long walk to go down via the stairs to the naval docks and then across the freeway to the Domain and to places like the art gallery or to the CBD. Indeed location is one of the important factors. Of course we always make use of our Priority Privilege 2 nights for price of one voucher and the discounted meals. November 26, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel Holiday Inn Potts Point is a very nice hotel. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and quick to assist a guest when they need assistance. The hotel is conveniently located next to Sydney CityRail Kings Cross station. Harbour View rooms provide an excellent view of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was mindful of the Do Not Disturb sign. Only drawback during my stay is that the hotel does not have a pool. Otherwise, it is a good place to stay and I would do so again on another visit to Sydney. November 25, 2012

I always use the gym that is generally well maintained. I like the fact that I can leave me car at the hotel, cross the road for a fast train to the CBD, and then return. When we inquuired at the front desk, Chef Joseph from your staff was there and suggested a fine Vietnamese restaurant - but while giving directions, he said, "I have a few minutes, I'll walk you there." That was trememdous service and put a great exclamation mark to end our three weeks in Australia. We will keep the HI Potts Point in high regard and recommend it to friends traveling to Sydney. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful understanding staff My wife has mobility difficulties so showing in the bath in our first room was very difficult and unsafe. When the conceige was asked to help another room with a walk in shower was provided with a shower chair. When our children arrived on an early morning flight to check in the staff on duty were kind to let them book in early as the rooms were ready. Anything asked of the staff was no trouble. We felt safe in the hotel and also in the car park. We had a great time. Thanks to all the staff. We will certainly return again. November 4, 2012

We made two seperate stays as we also sandwiched in a trip to New Zealand as well. Unfortunately I left a sports jacket behind after the first stay. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice big room overlooking the harbour. I have stayed often at this hotel and usually enjoy the experience, but this time when I entered the room, there was an awful smell. I thought it may have been dampness and tried circulating the air with the cooling system, but that didn't help. I was glad to leave the hotel this time to breathe fresh air. October 27, 2012
