Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms need Upgrading Having stayed at this hotel in Sydney frequently for years the last stretch being for four weeks I must say I preferred the service when it was the Delta. This locale has a great staff but lacks in other areas. The rooms - nice bed and pillows. TV is great but would love a remote with a Previous Channel" button. Carpets are gross and have to go. Air unit, some are new and the rest are just noisy and dirty. Windows that "open" would be the best thing. Not sure what they use to clean the room but when I first arrive and open the door the smell of chemicals or cleaners or the carpet is overpowering. Cyril and the staff are great and work hard to accomodate. Upgrades to the lobby and restaurant are nice but should have been focused on the rooms. The waterfront views are second to none at this hotel. THe boardwalk is just outside the hotel and there are good restaurants within walking distance. June 15, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Introduce grand-daughter to Cape Breton This was my grand-daughter's first visit to CB with her Mom, grandmother and I. We always stay at the Delta Hotel when visiting my Mom in North Sydney and we were very pleased to see the Holiday Inn chain has improved on what was already a fine hotel. Our stay was exceptional, the staff member at the front desk (Alison) went out of her way to make sure all our needs were met, including adjoining rooms for our family. She made sure at the start & end of our visit to ask if everything was going well with our visit. I overheard her politely talking on the phone to a client with such concern and it is obvious she takes great pride in providing good service...she will go far in the hotel business, well done Alison and thank you. Our rooms were kept spotless for our stay and certainly no interruption while we were present. My wife and I were so glad to see Carol still a member of your dining room staff, as always she provided personal service to everyone while flitting around the entire dining area...where does that lady get her energy #a good example for the younger staff members#...I believe she has been at the hotel for around 24 years and must be an enormous asset, I would say! On our last day she asked if we had a good time at my mother's 85th birthday party...she remembered me mentioning it in passing on our first morning there...with all Carol's clients, it was nice to be thought of and a big thank you for caring. We look forward to seeing you in the future. By the way, my daughter who shared the adjoining room with my grand-daughter had an equally good time...the rest of my family will be sure to stay at your hotel in the future #hope there will be some vacancies). Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fresh updates and dog friendly! Great place to stay, very friendly staff and Pet freindly! We came into Sydney after drving roughly 3000 miles and trying to catch the newfoundland ferry out the next night and had to stay an extra night due to weather. We were suprised to walk into a freshly updated lobby and current renovations were underway but not intrusive to guests. The staff was very helpful with information and service and treated our dog as a hotel guest and not an unwelcomed traveler. The pub had live music and good food and very close to the downtown scene, we walked a few feet to a local restraunt that had the best food in town. I would suggest to stay in the Sydney Waterfront Holiday Inn to anyone coming to the area. April 13, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Business Travel Great Hotel for Business travel! Will be even better when the construction is completed. Food could be updated a little in the bar and the pub would benefit from a selection of local beer such as propeller, garrison, pump house etc. Will be back again soon. March 12, 2013
