This hotel is close to the M5 J25, although you would not know it. The rooms are reasonably large, although my room was not refurbished to the latest Holiday Inn standards.
The bar had a wide selection of drinks, and bottled Ales from a local brewery which was good. The breakfast selection was good.
The health suite is reasonably well catered for with a useful length swimming pool.
I would return.

We have stayed on more than one occasion here. The hotel is immaculate the staff are more than friendly and certainly accommodating fantastic bar area loved the children's corner we sat and played games all night with the children and it was lovely to be able to feel like the children were welcomed with open arms. Cannot thank the staff for making all of us feel relaxed and welcome and would certainly recommend this hotel to anybody.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pauline4264 Disappointed as we have used holiday Inn for ver 25 years
This is the first time we have stayed at this hotel and t did not touch other holiday Inn's we have stayed at. On check in the man was not very friendly and did not offer us a dinner table as it has the guess's in front of us who he went over board with as they stayed there regularly. We booked a double room and was asked when we booked what we wanted, was phoned by the hotel to ask a couple of days before but we given a twin and as my husband and I had booked a nice weekend away we did not want to sleep in twins. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable and every time you slightly moved on the bed the headboard made noises which woke you up. Breakfast was not as good as other places and lacked some of the choice the same grade hotels have, however on the Saturday you were offered co taint tea/coffee but on the Sunday struggled to even get one cup and never was asked would we like another, it's fair to say we would not return. We also not offered any of the benefits that go with our reward card.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nomads Great place to stay
We have stopped at this Holiday Inn a number of times in the past. It remains one of our favourite places when travelling to the south west.
On this visit the staff excelled themselves with helpfulness. Check-in was a very smooth operation and the lady on duty was very friendly, welcoming and gave lots of information to help our stay. A big thank you.

Myself, mother and daughter stayed here on the 16th for 2 nights as had a wedding to attend.
There was not one fault with this hotel and the staff were excellent. Luke on reception went out of his way to help. He even gave us a lift to the wedding venue. Thank you so much Luke and your colleague that came wth us. Luke even looked up if there was any trafiic problems on our way back to London, I didn't even ask him to.
Breakfast was also very good.
All the staff were so friendly and seemed happy working at this hotel.
Well done to you all.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SomersetExile Would always stay here
I always use this hotel as I come from the area and its very convenient. The staff are always very friendly and happy to help. The adjoining health club is good although the members sometimes don't like sharing the pool with hotel guests.
My only critical comments would be about the restaurant, the service can sometimes be very slow, even when they are not busy. Also, the food has never been the same since Randy left.
I'll be back again.

I stayed with my husband and 3 chn aged between 4 &10 and my mum. We had 2 rooms. Everything was excellent, particularly the facilities for the chn such as the movie, cookies, milk, popcorn & games area. It makes the world of difference when the kids can just get on with it and u can sit near by and relax. My eldest loved the internet connected computer too. The meal was super and good value with the kids eating free. Breakfast the next day was wonderful, again little touches like the pancake machine, were a great hit with the kids. All staff were very helpful and ever so kind. They appear to enjoy their work. The pool was lovely as were the rooms. Choc treats went down well. Thank you. I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sue100 Check if its B&B or just room only
I certainly thought I was booking bed and breakfast, so was very dissappointed to find it was room only. Then found the room was adjoining someone else and we could hear them! We were quickly offered another room though so great service and otherwise a great hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ellac Good family experience but breakfast was hectic
This was our second stay & we felt the management team had made a real effort to make this more family friendly. Treat for our son on arrival, milk, cookies & family film all on offer.
The location is great & the welcome from the team was really good. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The use of the pool was one if the reasons we use this particular hotel.
Our only disappointment was at breakfast it was hectic, not enough tables, staff or food ready.
Maybe an idea to stagger sittings at peak times and give people a specific time slot to alleviate this problem?

Had a great stay here
Lovely clean room
Only gripe - £7.50 for a glass of wine in the bar - and that wasnt the most expensive - over the top price im afraid.
Also - i got a wake up call at 7.30 when i didnt ask for one and seriously needed a long lie in.
Other than that - great stay

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Penguin23 Pretty average
We stayed here for our wedding night. Thought others could stay as it was an easy location etc. years ago it use to be a top class hotel but was disappointed at room etc. When we booked the room on a main reservation desk we asked for their top room explaining that it was going to be our wedding night. When we arrived at midnight we were very disappointed with an average room (double bed and sofa) with hardly any space. Looked like a lot of the other rooms were the same. Very over priced for what we paid. One receptionist was very helpful the day before but on the next morning the receptionist was quite dismissive. For our first night of married life I would have rather than paid a little more and stayed at The mount hotel down the road.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nictom Family Friendly
We booked this hotel as a stop over en route from Norfolk and Essex to Cornwall. We had 2 family rooms, 3 adults and 4 children.
What a fabulous family friendly hotel...I couldn't rate it high enough. The kids had lollies and activity packs on arrival, there was a "kids corner" in the bar so we could enjoy a relaxing drink after our long drive and the kids were happy watching a movie and playing with the toys and games. The staff in the restaurant were great, they recognised that the children needed their order taking asap and their food came quickly, brought straws for their drinks etc etc......little things but very thoughtful and child focused....very refreshing!
Coffee-to-go for our onward journey and a chocolate treat for kids and we all left saying "Wow"!! My 7 year old said how much better it was than the hotel we stayed in for a Legoland break.....which was considerably more expensive!!
Well done Holiday Inn...we were all very impressed!
Shame we hadn't thought to book you for the journey home!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nettey Very comfortable stopover stay en route to South West
We booked this hotel over others in the area for the leisure amenities provided. Our children loved the good sized pool, and my husband relaxed in the sauna, pool and jacuzzi. Very friendly and informative reception and bar staff, providing us with details on the local area.
The room was comfortable and cool on a warm summer day. The children's beds were comfortable.
If in this area again, I would definately use this hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Grimmo Great Hotel but let down a little
I have got to say that this is a great hotel and the only thing that let it down was the cost of the internet access I had to pay, I was under the impression at the time of booking that internet access in my room was included! unfortunately it was not and cost me £22 for 48hrs.
But apart from that the rooms were very good and the breakfast was very good to.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NonSmokerRoom99 Smoked Room - Is on the Menu.
Where to start.. well before arrival my plane was delayed so I was not going to arrive at the hotel until about 11pm (stop serving food at 11pm). So called the hotel to advise I was going to be late and they kindly offered to take my order for food and have it ready for my when I got there. So I thought 'what great service'... however that is where the great service ended and things were downhill from there.
I arrived full of hope and checked in.. No recognition of my Priority Club Platinum Status, no room upgrade, but I was tired so I just asked to sign in a got my key. Advised I would drop my bags in my room and then get my food that was ready to come out. When arriving at my room #99# the first thing that hit me was a very strong smell of smoke when I walked in, I attended reception not happy and advised there was a strong smell of smoke in my room. I received a look of disbelief from the reception staff like I was making it up. I then politely asked for someone to visit my room whilst I ate to investigate the issue. I sat down and my food was brought out, unfortunately I only took 1 bite out of the chicken burger as it was cooked to death and had a very odd taste to it. Only the chips I ordered were edible but I was that tired from my long journey I didn't have the energy for another complaint as I just wanted some sleep.
I went over to reception and they confirmed there was a smell of smoke in my room that had not been picked up by housekeeping. However as the hotel was fully booked there was no other room they could give me until tomorrow. As way of an apology I was offered a few extra IHG Rewards points, but would have to spend the night in a room that smelled like an ashtray. At this point I was so tired I just accepted what I was being told and had a very poor nights sleep. As agreed housekeeping moved me to another room the following day and my new room was clean, smelled very fresh and was what I should have received in the first place.
So if you are staying here please avoid room 99, unless it has been thoroughly steam cleaned since this review. I did try and obtain the Hotel Managers email address so I could send my feedback to him, however I did not get a reply.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MickeyJd Room good. Food expensive.
Room was good, but I must have misread the web site as it turned out breakfast wasn't included and the additional £10 per person per day made it all too expensive.
Bar food not great for the price.
Staff friendly and helpful. Kids loved access to the pool.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by minidefender Slow WiFi, friendly staff, comfortable beds
Thanks for free Wifi, but 256 kbit/s isn't acceptable today. As in Holiday Inn Express 512 kbit/s is the minimum. Otherwise it's better to get a cheap mobile internet by three.co.uk
The staff was always friendly and efficient. We liked the comfortable single beds. Avoid rooms with connecting doors because you never know who's your neighbour. Our neighbour smoked (which was strictly forbidden) and we immediately got the smoke inside our room, too.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cubit Not good
I am a Gold Elite IHG member. On booking & arrival no mention of me being a Gold Elite member. No offer of free newspaper, no offer of free Internet access etc. It was a very hot day we stayed in Taunton, we needed the air conditioning to work permanently & properly, throughout the night the A/C kept turning off. The bed was very small, the room decor was very tired. I paid for an executive room upgrade but it was an absolute joke, my wife now feels sorry for me that I have to stay in these hotels during the week whilst working away rom home! The room fridge was not working. No bathrobe was supplied, I had to ask reception & just one bathrobe was supplied, there were two people staying in this room. Only enough toiletries for one person were supplied; my wife had to ask reception for more.
I complained on checkout that I was really not happy about the A/C kept cutting out during the night, she explained that "this was the system the hotel has". No apology at all.
I travel extensively every week with work & also privately with my wife, this is one hotel that I will never stay in again. Must do better, Taunton!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sinbadnpg Great hotel, good staff but food quality and choice not so good.
Excellent location and place to stay. Staff in particular make you feel welcome and are genuinley caring.
However, the food quality and choice is a little poor, especially if you fancy something vegetarian. On the menu was just one choice. When i enquired about this i was advised that i needed to order from the bar menu which i due did but i wasn't impressed when it arrived. It lacked taste and the appearance i will not comment on.
Shame really....otherwise all good
