I know that they are current redoing some of the facility, so maybe I hit a bad time. The restaurant was not very good. The decor was bad, since plastic hanging over one side and the sound of saws being heard during business hours. Workout room was really bad. Equipment was out of order or in disrepair. best to just shut it down. The room was decent though.

We chose this hotel for the great value and the proximity to the tourist attractions. The rooms were spotless, and I especially liked that the bathtub grout was sparkling white! Nothing like a grimy grout to ruin your vacation. I thought the carpets were dirty so I wore my shoes in the room (forgot to bring the flip flops). I did not like the fact that there was construction going on although it wasn't noisy, I would have liked to have known that in advance. We froze in the restaurant while we were eating because of the plastic sheets hanging around us while they were fixing things. But I will forgive that because there was no noise at all from the construction.

Nigel and Shannon took excellent care of us when we went down to complain about the door to the bathroom. They moved us to another room the same day and answered our questions and made recommendations. They were in the middle of remodeling the bar so the food was OK but I'm sure once the renovations are done the food quality will improve. Central to a lot of DC locates, near the restaurants on P street and not too far from the Metro.
Laundry closet needs more space so you can get in it easier.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TomfromNC Great place to stay
Had to stay in DC for three days for business reasons. Relative to other hotels in the area, I think this might be the best value I've had anywhere inside the district. Staff was very knowledgeable about the area, restaurant is good with lots of variety. Highly recommend this place and I'll certainly be back next time I'm in DC.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cbk63 really liked it except for wet carpet by sink :(
I would have no complaints about this Holiday Inn...people couldn't have been nicer, food good, everyone helpful but two days we were gone all day and when we would come back the carpet in front of the sink (outside the bathroom) was always soaked! We'd throw a towel on it and keep going...didn't complain about it 'cause otherwise room was fine and really, at the end of the day, didn't have the energy. Would like to know why it happened tho'?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by vinceslu An overnight in DC
I only had a few hours to spend at hotel but it was quite reasonable. It was walking distance from World Bank, UNEP, NRDC, GEF, and very close to the Metro. So I could get from Dulles to my hotel by shuttle and metro, even with suitcases, for under $15. Very convenient.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by gaijinmom Very friendly and helpful staff - clean and great location!
I think my title says it all, but there was nothing to complain about in our 2-night stay. A good location and not difficult to find - about 10 min walk to metro and 2 stops to the National Museum of Natural History. Lots of good eats and convenient shops in the immediate area. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic breakfast buffet, but always clean and good quality.

We think the staff was the best we have had at a hotel, the front desk was just great.
we were in town for a baby shower and everybody helped to get the gifts from the truck to lobby, and helped load them. staff always asked if we needed anything.
when we were ready to check out had great help with luggage and getting truck out of lot and loading it.
food and service when we went to eat was just great

I checked in early on Nov. 30 with Nigel's help. I was able to drop off my bags to my room at 10:30am, that was a huge help and Nigel was wonderful to speak with. He also helped me with a map to get to my first destination. Everyone working at the front desk and doorman were extremely helpful and kind.
The room was great until I was ready to settle down for the evening. The alarm clock/radio was creating an annoying low tone sound. I tried to turn it off and reset it but it still continued. I called maintenance, they came up and he didn't really have any idea. You cannot unplug it because it is not plugged in, it is behind the outlet. I wrapped up the alarm clock in a blanket and pillows and I could still hear it, so I kept the fan on in the room to drown it out.
The square pillows are not that comfortable. The longer pillows in the room are more comfortable but hard to get. I requested the longer pillows, a nice woman brought one to my room. The next day the longer pillows were removed after housecleaning. I requested them again but the pillows brought up on Sat night were the square pillows. I felt badly asking again so i just gave up.
Nigel was the nicest person a customer could meet after a long trip to the hotel. I must commend him. He helped with kindness and joked around with me and my sister.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by loub52 smoking on a non-smoking floor
I stayed on the 9th floor during my visit. Both nights of the visit, a customer in a nearby room was smoking, creating an unpleasant experience on what I expected to be a non-smoking floor. I did report the smoking to the front desk after the first night of my stay, but it did continue on for the next night as well

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JDKK good value
There were 2 mornings when there was no hot water for over an hour. This was an aberration as I never experienced this kind of problem with multiple stays here.
I used to get free breakfast with a platinum priority membership but did not on this stay. That was a very good value. Breakfast is great.
Prices can become quite high when Congress is in session

We come to Washington DC every year to take in a Redskins game. Until this trip, we've always stayed at different hotels through the years. This Holiday Inn is very comfortable. Great staff. Did not miss a beat. Clean. That staff runs the place like they own the place! Our experience was wonderful to say the least. And....the skins got a W!!! See you next year Holiday Inn!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PTiops64 The most friendly people I have met on my first visit to DC
As priority club member I usually stay at Holiday inn if they are available in the cities that I'm visiting. I chose this hotel because of its location to the city center. Though you pay a bit premium but what you get is the accessibility and convenience when you're around the famous landmarks and monuments of the national capital of USA. The only drawback is you have to walk many blocks down the road to get to the nearest Metro (subway) station. Also the neighborhood is not in the busy business area - such as you have to walk few blocks to see a McDonalds, convenience store or restaurant. But of you want to secluded quiet accommodation away from the busyness of the city, then this is YOUR HOTEL. I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting to see a newer facilities inside the hotel. But it was offset by the warmth and friendliness of the staff at the counter. No offense to New Yorkers staff of HI but I find Washingtonians staff of HI very friendly, accommodating and not rude. The gift shop inside the hotel needs some improvement. Restaurant serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is OK. I suggest selection of food on breakfast buffet needs to change once in a while. I have been eating the same breakfast for the past 3 days. Pleased to know that hotel has a bar, as well as free flowing of coffee and tea in the lobby. Generally speaking I'm happy to stay at this hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bob17 Staff friendly, helpful. Total atmosphere in hotel Outstanding.
We have stayed in many hotels, including five star hotels. The staff at this hotel were all the most most friendly, and most helpful of any in which we have ever stayed. Desk personnel extremely friendly and helpful, as were the staff in the restaurant. All voluntarily went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Very nice selection on the menu in the restaurant. Great breakfast buffet. Food at breakfast, lunch and dinner excellent, and well presented. Staff in restaurant went out of their way to accomdate us. Staff, just walking past us in the garage, elevators, hallways greeted us everytime they past us, held doors, helped with luggage etc. We were greeted each time we returned to the hotel by doorman, desk staff etc. Atmosphere in the lobby, reataurant excellent. We totally felt at home there. Hotel is convienently located to all attractions, and is in a very nice area. Garage a little tight, but convenient. We particualrly appreciated the voice system (name and room number) to acess the roll up doors at the garage, and the room key to acess the eleavators. Thus,we felt totally safe in the hotel. We also felt safe walking to the attractions (even at night). I would definelty return to this hotel next time we go to DC.

This hotel is perfectly located, close by feet to the Mall and the White House area. The parking is a plus, as you can leave your car while you visit the town. The rooms are very comfortable, quiet and clean.

This hotel is in a really central location close to all the sights like the White House. The hotel itself was very comfortable both the room and the general hotel facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant and bar provided good service as well as good food.
I will definitely use this hotel again on my next trip to DC.

This hotel is a lovely walk from the Washington Mall. The front desk was helpful, the wait staff kind, helpful and appreciative. The room was clean and in good repair. The parking lot was locked and secure.
The only down side was no wifi available. Of course there was ethernet, but our ipad was unable to connect.
