Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent venue for business and pleasure. Convenient location for business - close to various federal agencies and pleasure - close to museums, kid-friendly food establishments. Convenience for proximity to the metro for getting to and from the airport or varous locations. August 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location Hotel has a great location, walking distance to many museums, white house and many other attactions. My kid enjoyed playing at the roof pool. Our room was a little bit noisy because of the rail road behind the hotel, first night it bothered us but we were fine after that. August 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location! We had an excellent stay at the Holiday Inn in Washington DC! Great location. Food was excellent and staff was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again! August 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Close to DC Mall Our family enjoyed a couple nights at the Holiday Washington-Capitol. Worth staying within couple blocks of the mall, roughly mid-point between Capitol hill and Washington monument. Great location. Parking is under the hotel so convenient. Room was a little tight with couple of teenagers, but worked for a few nights. Air conditioner was loud. Room was clean. The price was right. Staff were accommodating and nice. August 13, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed The room quality was as expected. The maid service was outstanding. The hotel was well located for our purposes. BUT: Our keys had to be remagnetized daily. The service at breakfast was awful and the buffet food was barely edible. The bacon was raw. We were charged for a movie we did not purchase and that we were told would be removed from our bill and was not until I complained. Bellman's service was slow. August 13, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Shabby and overpriced I was surprised at how shabby and worn this hotel has become. We were in a suite. The wifi didn't work and when we called the front desk they said someone would come up and never did. When I shared this with the front desk when checking out I got a blank stare...The location is great but way too pricey and not worth it. Had to ask for a cot three times. August 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great room, great service The location of the hotel is ideal , all attractions are within walking distance. The room was spacious and clean. The food served at the restaurant is really good, even though a little expensive. This is definitely a hotel I would recommend August 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loved our stay and the location Most important is that everything was clean and it was. The location is the best and you can walk almost anywhere without much effort. I liked the pool on the roof and the large lobby area. Parking was great and the rates were reasonable. I am going back to DC next year and plan to stay here again. August 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and friendly Staff For our Marine reunion I picked the Holiday Inn for our group of 70 people based on a few things, competitive price, perfect location in D.C. and from prior positive Holiday Inn experiences. This location did not disappoint, very clean and the staff was super friendly always smiling and looking to help a guest out. The outside patio court yard was a perfect late night area to just sit, talk and eat when you where not ready to go to your room or did not want to be inside however the bar and restroom was just inside so food and drinks were close by if you wanted something. There also was an outside patio on the street if you wanted to sit in the front of the hotel. Parking garage was very near and two train stations stops were right and left of the hotel an easy walk to either one to catch metro line. The hotel is surrounded by everything you want to see in D.C. August 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location Stayed 2 nights. Good location to walk to the museums, Rooms were nice and clean, Heard trains going by in backyard once in awhile, Major problem is there is no other place to eat close by so you must eat there and parking garage has small spots But would recommend staying there Food there was good but a little pricy August 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by To many dirty rooms We arrived late to the hotel, very tired after a long excursion. We were disappointed to discover that the bath was peeling and in poor condition. We were shown a second room, which suffered from a similar problem. The third room we were show. Was simply dirty, with hair clogging the bath and sink. Only in the fourth room did we find a clean bathroom we could use. Needless to say, it was an unpleasant experience, lugging tired children and luggage around from room to room until we found one that's clean, and not one I'd expect from a hotel at this price level. We had stayed at this hotel in the past without such problems, which is why we returned; but I don't think we'll do that again. August 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and superb location to all the sites! We were totally impressed at how conveniently located the hotel was. It was only two blocks over from the Air and Space Museum and a couple blocks from the subway system. The people were very friendly and the room very comfortable and roomy. The rooftop pool was on the smaller end, but a big hit with our kids! Fortunately, we negotiated our parking in with our hotel deal, which made it very affordable. The rooms have good sized refrigerators too. Make sure to bring your own groceries though as there are no stores for purchasing groceries (not even bread) nearby. The hotel had a breakfast/lunch restaurant and dinner place as well. Prices varied depending on the items. The perfect place to stay with a family and terrific location for walking to "the mall." Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Clean, Comfortable, Excellent location Found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. Staff was very responsive. The location was perfect for our activities. Ate several meals in the Capital Bistro. Food was better than expected. Service at the Capital Bistro was fair. Waiter brought wrong entree and I had to wait while others ate their meal. Several of the coffee creamers at breakfast had been there a bit too long......they were solid, like cheese. August 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location....But... My wife and I came to the Capitol for a few days of sight seeing. We chose this hotel based on the hotel rooftop pool which was nice. It indeed does have a view of the capitol building. It was very close to all the Museums and the National Mall. The room was clean and the bed is nice. If you are looking for a clean room and a place just to shower and sleep this is the Hotel for you. After I had been there for a few days I noticed that the Hotel was in need of a freshen up. Needs paint, ceiling tiles that aren't all stained up, ect.. The bar was a different story, we found the service to be painfully slow and the bartenders acted as if we were a burden to their time, on wednesdays they have a live band and a wild crowd. We went to the bar and there was broken glass everywhere and my wife and I were both in flip flops, this became a problem when we asked to have it cleaned up they were short with us. Overall if you are going to see sights and just have a place to clean up and sleep not too bad. If you are going to relax at the hotel, maybe choose another. August 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and friendly staff Stayed for the weekend and the room was plenty comfortable. Close as you could get to the museums at a great price. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else if I visit. August 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location & friendly staff This hotel was in a great location, we walked anywhere we wanted to go. There are not many restaurants in the immediate area but in a short 10 minute walk there are many options!! The staff was extremely friendly & very helpful!! The rooftop pool was great, a little cool on the cooler days but the kids really enjoyed it. Thanks for the memories!! August 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Old fashion customer service The room, bathroom and linen were clean! You feel valued by the staff working at the front-desk, housekeeping, and room service. They stop and look at you when you ask a question and when they reply. August 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Excellent location The location cannot be beat. Most of the things we wanted to see or do were a short walk away. The food was good but expensive (like everything in DC). The pool left a little to be desired--it is only accessible via a flight of stairs. The stairwell was 'creepy' and in ill-repair (dirty, paint peeling, 'junk' visible) but the kids didn't seem to mind. If you're in a wheelchair or cannot climb stairs, NO POOL FOR YOU! The air conditioning was welcome but the pesky fan kept running at random intervals even when shut off completely. And the fan was LOUD. Guest laundry area was acceptable. The rooms were clean when we arrived and kept clean by the housekeeping staff. August 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Location Great location making it easy to see all the sites. The Air and Space museum is only two blocks away. Located just blocks from the Air & Space are numerous museum. The subway is also close by maybe two or three blocks from the hotel. During our vacation we stayed at four different Holiday Inns and were very please by the staff at all locations. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and I would stay here again. August 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dc at holiday inn Good place to stay that is close to the national mall and capitol. I wished there were places to eat around there. Overall, it was a positive experience. The only problem was that my card was swiped twice and it took a lot of unnecessary sightseeing time to rectify the situation. The front office manager was courteous and diligent in helping us clean up this mess. He even bought us lunch at the buffet bistro which was rather pricey. August 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location but poor internet connection Our room was comfortable and clean, but the double beds (rather than queen) were too small and we had to request a roll-away bed for our teenage son ($15 extra per night). The Internet service was VERY POOR. We had MUCH trouble connecting every evening. For a typical American family who looks forward to connecting with friends (kids) or checking e-mails (parents) via the internet at the end of the day, the complete lack of internet service in the rooms was awful! I could not even get 4G service on my iPhone!!! The hotel staff was polite but quite helpless in this matter. The 21st Amendment restaurant was understaffed -- it took 90 minutes to get 4 cheeseburgers...20 minutes to get a soda... another frustration at the end of a long day of sightseeing! Breakfast buffet was great in the morning. Overall: worth a stay since it is so close to the Mall, but don't eat dinner or expect to use the internet at the hotel...! August 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and all the details...like the morning paper at our door. All staff were kind and courteous, greeting us as we walked through the halls. I would recommend this place (and have already) to anyone! August 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location, Good Value We had a good experience and could walk to the National Mall and Museums from the hotel. Very good food in the restaurant and bar. August 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, Great location, Poor service I had issues with this hotel from the start. When I showed up at 2:45 to check in, they said it the rooms were not ready, to come back a little after 3p. At 3:30p, they said one room wasn't clean and the other was still occupied. I had to wait over 30 minutes for them to find us new rooms. However, Alex was really nice about working hard to make it happen. Then, that evening, around 10p, I went to the desk to ask for a bottle of water, since the desk sign said reward members receive free bottles. The desk clerk said that's only for Gold and Platinum members, regular members can get one in the café when open, which it obviously wasn't that late. When I told him that every other Holiday Inn I've gone to had given me a welcome bag with water in it, he replied "well it's up to the hotel to decide who they give it to." I mean, seriously, arguing over a bottle of water my mother needed for her C-Pap machine to sleep. He was utterly rude, and then made a "grand gesture" of "Oh, I guess I can do it for you this time." Well, this hotel can keep their water for their other guests next time. For the amount I paid, there are other hotels that would be happy to give me a 99 cent bottle of water for a $900 hotel stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Conviently located, I had a nice stay Everything was good to excellent except the TV reception in my room kept coming and going. This wasn't a big deal since most of my stay I was walking about playing tourist, enjoying the memorials, museums and other sights. The deli downstairs is good, but I'd like to suggest the Wall Street Deli, about 30 yards down the street also. Good food, and very reasonably priced. This is my 2nd stay at this hotel, and it will not be my last. August 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Slightly off Overall ok but had a few misses. Request for adjoining room not recognized. I called 4 hrs prior to arrival to confirm and the room was not ready when we go there (5pm). Tv remote was broken, I called down for a new one, one was never brought up. Coffee pot did not work but they did bring a new one when I called. Wait staff at restaurant didn't seem to know the menu that well, thought lettuce and tomato for a hamburger constituted a side salad. Overall a good value and good location but could have been better with a little effort. August 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location and Staff I stayed here for one night then back for 2 more nights in a week. The staff is very friendly, the rooms clean and bright. The food selections were good. The location is great for tourists, close to the mall, capitol and Metro Stations. The bell men were very accommodating and friendly. I would stay again. August 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by friendly service, comfortable bed The a/c was on a motion sensor causing it to get hot at night. We had to get up and move around to make it come on. It was fine otherwise. August 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stay July 25-28 2013 Location was great. Food was awesome. No towels in pool area and pool overcrowded. Covers on bed had stains on them. August 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, a couple downsides We really were pleased with the close walking distance to almost all the Washington museums and monuments. The parking was expensive but secure. The room was clean but we were directly across from the train station and it was loud in the morning. We were also very disappointed with how amazingly loud the room air conditioner was, I could not leave it on at night to sleep. The staff was friendly and pleasant. The kids loved the roof top pool but it could get crowded. August 1, 2013
