Not a great location. Strip club a block away... The rooms were fine, as was the staff. But nothing special. In sum, there was nothing here that would bring me back.

We decided to stay in Bakersfield at the last minute and were not disappointed. Staff was most helpful directing us to where we wanted to go. The best part were the wonderful appetizers offered in the evening. Thank you for great stay.

I had to visit Bakersfield at short notice for a funeral. I made my reservation on the website for a 3 day stay. The price was quite high for Bakersfield for all 3 nights. I actually called the hotel after booking to ask why the rates were so high and was told about an event in town. My brother's family stayed at the same hotel for two nights of the 3 nights. I found out my last night what their rate was - it was 40% of my rate (that is not a typo) for the same two days. At that time I called the front desk and spoke to the manager on duty. He informed me that my rate was high because I booked on the website. He added that I should have called the hotel directly like my brother and probably would have gotten a better rate.
At that point I called the 1-800 customer care number. The customer care personnel referred me to general manager of property to see if any resolution. I have called 3 times over 3 days and General Manager is not there but will be there later in day or early the next morning. I have called back the 1-800 number and they advised nothing else could be done and gave a different reason as to why my brother's rate was so low compared to mine.
I now know that the 'lowest price guarantee' is an empty promise with enough conditions that it will never be paid out.

If a comfy room with excellent staff and exceptional cleanliness is what you're looking for this is the place for you. Staff spoke every time we walked through the lobby. I personally like that. Made sure we had directions or reservations wherever we needed to go. The room configuration was also very nice. We travel with 2 teen children and the king/double queen suite was perfect for us. Where the hotel itself was very quiet the only down side is it's next to a highway that had occasional truck/traffic noise. However, that would not keep me from staying here again.

Bed was not comfortable. Pillows were horrible. Cold air from A/C blew on bed all night, too warm without. Possible solution, rearrange room so bed on other wall, so as to avoid air blowing on sleepers. Simple solution. Consequently we did not get good night's sleep which was crutial on a trip of 1000 miles, Needed that rest.!!!!!

On a recent road trip we stayed in three different Holiday Inn Express locations in California and Oregon.
This one was no better than the other locations but the price was substantially higher than both other locations.

It was a very pleasant stay, the room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Loved that the refrig and microwave were updated and the the bar area had a sink..

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The room was clean and comfortable. The ceiling fans made me feel as if I was in my own room at home. The coffee was great and they had plenty of breakfast items to choose from. I will most definitely stay there again when visiting family in Bakersfield.

The staff was efficient and pleasant; the room was clean; lots of fire fighting heroes staying there; convenient, BUT everything was ruined when we went into our room and into a blast furnace. I understand about saving power and money to keep a room cool. I really do, but I lost total patience when it took THREE HOURS for the room to cool from 97 degrees to 80 degrees. By midnight, it was down to 78. By the way, it was cooler outside at a nice 93.

From the moment I walked in the door the staff was very welcoming. After checking in the person at the front desk called and let me know that some other guests were BBQing and were inviting all guests to join. Then when I got back from visiting family in town they knew that I missed the BBQ and told me that later in the week they were going to be preparing other cuisine during the week. Even though I was visiting my home town they made sure that myself and other guests felt welcome and went above and beyond with their service and hospitality! I would recommend this location to anyone!

The front entrance view is beautiful and the waffles were great, unfortunately the rest of the motel needs updated the pool is old the washer & dryer are old I finally had to take my laundry off site to get them dried. I took so long waiting for it to dry that the guy running the front desk told me I needed to hurry up because other people were waiting. When I asked for extra towels they acted like it was a bad thing. I would ask for 3 they would give me 2 if I asked for 6 they would give me 4. We stayed here 4 days.

The room was "stale." Felt like a room that had been in "moth balls" for years. We paid top dollar for a "suite" that was in fact just one room with a sofa. Television reception was bad.
Would never come again to this location. In fact, on our return home from Vegas we chose another hotel for our "half way home" stop over. Did not at all measure up to any of our previous Holiday Inn Express experiences.

This property is NOT up to IHG standards. Everything about it was cheap. Cheap tissue, cheap coffee cups, cheap light bulbs, cheap coffee cups in restaurant. The coffee tasted weak & watery.
The couch in our room appeared to be from a garage sale. with small rips & tears in the cloth. The room was large but totally the wrong furniture. The bed was OK but the room was uncomfortable.
Will not stay here again.

The rooms are the best thing about this place. There are ceiling fans and lots of space. The beds are super comfortable I did not want to leave. Everything is clean and new.
There is a little freeway noise but you get that anywhere and it went away as the night grew longer.
My 12 year old son was with me and he always swims but this time missed it. Though we saw the pool which was clean and new.
Breakfast was just average because there was no waffle machine or pancake machine (my son loves those). We saw both of them stored behind the bar. Not sure if they even use the bar. The food is sometimes overstocked in other Holiday Express's but in this hotel it was just right. Even when they ran out of something it was quickly re-stocked (keeping it fresh). We made a sasauge muffin and there were breakfast burritos that we didn't try but they looked tasty.
The staff was all business and need to warm up a little. I am used to "hi's" when I walk in after dinner but we were just ignored, but not too big of deal.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you need a nice clean, large, new room. They also have a nice wet bar and the shower has jets I think used for the handicap but it was fun using them.

I stayed in this hotel on my way to LA. It was a big surprise for me to have such a high quality of room comfort. High ceilings, nice and comfortable beds. I wish I had such a service and quality in other Hotels of the chain I stayed during my trip to west coast. This is one of the best hotels of this chain. Thanks.
Avoid freeway side rooms for a quiter sleep. Nice stay.

The I-5 was closed through the Grapevine, so we called and booked a room, fortunately we got in before all the other travelers stuck on the north side of the mountains.
A little hard to get to off the 99, but we figured it out. Only food & beverage in walking distance was the Buck Owens country spot. Turned out to be fun, a little touristy, and it was worth a visit.
The staff was friendly & outgoing. The hotel wasn't built as a HI-Express so the layout was a little different, but they put us in a corner room that was more like a little suite with high ceilings and very spacious.

This will be the first time I have ever complained about a stay in a hotel. I have never been treated so poorly in over the last three years I have been staying at Holiday Inn hotels! The general manager is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. He was so unprofessional he should not be in a management position. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

We travel for business so we are in Hotel rooms a lot. Meet many people and many workers in Hotels. The full staff at this Holiday Inn Express that we met were of the most kind and alert employees, wish we had them in our business. Hotel lives are not what we thought it would be 15 years ago, exciting, wonderful and full of thrills. Well now of course we know better but it is nice when we stay at one which has such great people. Thank you

I travel 30? of my work time & stay at hotels of which I have am a member of their loyalty club. Recently, I had to go to Seattle to a meeting & the Only hotel near my meeting was a Holiday Inn express - I was suprisingly pleased by the property, room, service & breaskfast.
Last week I was in Bakerfield & stayed at Holiday Inn Express Bakerfield. I was very disappointed. THe beds were hard; therefore a did not have a good night' sleep for any of the 4 nights I stayed. THe front desk staff was lazy - they could not Be bothered to look up from their computer screen when we checked in - most of the time they were in the television area watching TV. I called down to ask for an extra blanket to be sent to my room & they said that if I wanted It, I had to come & get it... no explanations. I requested a wake up call for 5 am each morning, & only received it the 2nd morning. - thank god for the alarm on the iPhone! I have to be back in Bakersfield in July & I will not be staying at this property - even though it is near my meeting location.

The service was phenomenal! All the staff greeted me and made me feel like I was their only guest. The rooms (I stayed twice at this hotel) were comfortable, cozy and inviting. The fans were a great addition! This was a business trip, yet it also felt like a pleasure trip. The only thing missing was guest laundry (it's not set up yet). However, the manager understood my dilemma in needing to wash my uniforms and arranged to have them washed for me! YAY! Thank you for an extremely enjoyable stay!

MAYBE its because I used priority points as payment that I received such a bad welcome that my wife wanted to leave and forget this hotel. WE arrived a little early to check in and were told no rooms were ready at 2:45 pm /as well as several others . WHEN we were checked in there was no mention of our priority club status and had to ask for internet code . Front desk people /name unknown /had no name tags /addressed me by name and acted as though I was some homeless bum from the street. NEEDLESS to say I will never stay at this property again / YOU'VE be warned. ANOTHER customer wrote a bad review with tripadvisor about this property who also booked with points.

This is a wonderful HI Express Hotel. The amenities and accommodations are well above average for the HIX we are familiar with.
BUT - the thing that really stands out at this hotel is the friendly staff - they are helpful, inviting, pleasant - after the most brief encounter you almost forget they are actually not family.
Our stay was for several days and it was most pleasant.
