Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing I stay in Holiday Inn Express almost exclusively and I was very disappointed at the facility in Bastrop Texas. The hallways and elevator did not appear to have any air conditioning, the ice maker on the third floor was broken and the a/c in the room could not be lowed to a comfortable temperature. For the first time in my experience, I felt like we overpaid for what we received. June 23, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lousy room assignment and smell I checked in early and was very pleasantly greeted. I was assigned a room that was as far away from the elevator as it possibly could have been. Based on the parking lot at night and the "crowd" at breakfast there were not many guests, I don't know why I ended up by the laundry room. It smelled as though the laundry room was used as a smoking room Had I been staying more than one night I would have changed rooms or changed hotels. I am generally a fan of holiday inn express, but I did not like this one. Staff was friendly enough, probably just not well trained in the hospitality industry. June 14, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beatle Mania Hotel was unacceptable due to the invasion of huge black beatles -- in parking lot, in lobby of hotel, in my rooms (I asked to be moved from a ground floor room where I presumed the problem would be worse, to a top floor room and the top floor room has beatles in it too. The staff was helpful, but did indicate that the beatles come through the air conditioner units into each room. I also discovered a tick on my bathroom door, and two used wash cloths hanging over the curtain rod in shower. It was enough to send me out the door at 5 am with wet hair. Couldn't stay in the room 1 minute longer. June 12, 2014

I booked a 2 room King Suite and then called the front desk and confirmed my stay in a 2 room suite. We came to visit my parents and were looking for some privacy because we have 3 children. I called the day of check in to let the front desk know we would be a late check in and I asked aBout our 2 room suite again. The gentleman informed me there was no door inbetween the rooms. How is this a 2 room suite?! It was difficult coordinating the bathroom times for everyone to get dressed since there was no privacy in between the 2 rooms. I loved the hotel And will stay here again but I really think the description for the room is very misleading. I LOVED the guest laundry. We stAyed for 3 nights and 4 days and it was nice to have all the laundry done for my children for school on Tuesday. There was no need to come home early to do laundry. Very nice! I do recommend this hotel and staff. May 29, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not The Best Example of Holiday Inn Express Locations We spend at least 60 nights per year in hotels, mostly Holiday Inn Express locations. This one is not one of our favorites. Our check-in experience was less than friendly/customer oriented/welcoming. The staff in the morning at breakfast and at the counter didn't make us feel any more welcome. Our room had hair in the tub and the bathroom ceiling was in need of repair. The rug needed cleaning in the corners and along the edges. The pool and hot tub were so dirty that we did not dare go in - what a shame. Not up to the standard normally set by most Holiday Inn Express locations. May 21, 2014

I really love it! And this hotel is in the perfect location!!! They told us where to eat and shop. Our daughter loved the pool and hot tub. Its nice having Walmart in the same parking lot. My husband and I look forward to their happy hour in the "breakfast area" serving the local beer. The room is extremely cleaned and the hand towels fashioned into different animals reminds me of my trip on a Cruise. December 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Late Night Check in Overall it was a good stay with some exceptions. The check in went very smoothly. When we got in the room we turned on the heater and it set off the smoke detector. I went down to the front clerk and she nicely told me to run the heater for about a minute and a half. It worked but I worried about the neighbors. If this happens this frequently you might think the staff would run them ahead of time. There was also a large coffee like stain on the cover sheet. We thought it was on the comforter but it was on the sheet. I got down to breakfast about 8:30 and the eggs had beome dried out and the bacon had become over cooked (to me too crispy.) Overall we like this hotel very much. We like the Bastrop area and stay periodically. December 1, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wife Approved We needed a nice but reasonable place to stay in Bastrop for a weekend getaway with my wife, so I chose the local Holiday Inn Express. First time staying at one of these, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Overall, the room was pretty nice and comfortable except for the tub, which had a little rust in it. The only other issue was the tv remote that continued to have a very short range even after changing the batteries. I was worried what my wife would think, but she liked it very much. Staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Bastrop was like staying in a more expensive Hotel in the city, but on a smaller scale. November 16, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good and bad The room was a nice size. For some reason we were given an ADA room. We paid extra to get a room with a whirlpool bath. I got in it the first night and went to turn on the bubbles and the button fell into the water. It was close to midnight so I just finish my bath and decided we would tell the front desk in the morning. We ate breakfast the next morning and about that I can say that the sausage and cinnamon rolls were really good, everything else was barely OK. As we were leaving for the day, we stopped at the front desk to tell them about the problem with the bath. They said they would have someone fix it while we were out. We got back to the room late that night and asked if it had been fixed. Was told they had to order a part but that the tub would hold water but the bubbles wouldn't work. I told him that I had paid extra to get the whirlpool room so I wanted a credit of the difference between the room we paid for and a regular room. He first said that we could pack up and move to another room. We did not feel up to packing all of our stuff up and moving to another room and then unpacking so we declined that offer and said we would just take a credit for the difference in the cost of the rooms. He finally agreed and said he would refund the $20 difference. The next morning we go to check out and I asked for a copy of the bill and see that we were only given a credit for one night. I told him that there should have been a credit for two nights since we paid for it for two nights and didn't have the whirlpool either night. He said sorry he couldn't do anything about it so I asked for a manager and of course the manager was not available. Finally he agreed to credit the other $20 for the first night but hoped he wouldn't get in trouble. I don't think I was asking for too much. I had paid for something that they did not provide so I didn't feel as though I should have been charged for it. Also since we were in an ADA room it had a roll in shower. The shower curtain needs to be just a little bit longer. It barely meets the little lip that keeps the water in the shower basin; if you happen to bump the curtain while showering the curtain lands on the outside of the lip and water starts draining into the floor of the bathroom getting anything you have on the floor wet. Most of the staff that we came in contact with were very friendly especially the gentleman who worked the front desk in the evening. We just didn't get the feeling that they were given the authority to fix a problem if it was a financial problem and there was no one around who had that authority. November 14, 2013

The bed was so poor that my wife woke up with back and neck pain which required a professional massage to work out. There was essentially zero water pressure in the shower, and my morning shower was with cold water only. The bare minimum requirements for a hotel stay are a comfortable bed and a good shower, and this hotel failed both. And this for a price which was not competitive. We will not visit this hotel again. The packaged coffee in the rooms was also tasteless. We recommend you upgrade your coffee to a much better quality. Otherwise, the service in the hotel was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. November 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy Hour and Working Spa - What's Not To Like From the first desk person I encountered to the last, everyone was very pleasant and extremely helpful. The room was as expected, which is perfect. There was an interestingly folded towel which was a very simple thing but it made me smile and that's a good thing. The location offers a wide choice of fast food and restaurants as well as a Walmart. The last two HIE that I stayed in didn't have a working spa; the spa here was working, warm and appreciated. The Happy Hour was a nice touch and very popular. Would definitely stay here again if I were in the area. October 27, 2013

The desk checked me in about 1 hour early, and I arranged to check out 2 hours late. The room was very nice, with sets of both soft and firm pillows - it says so on the pillowcases. The room was clean, the AC worked great, and the bathroom featured lots of free goodies. Breakfast was very good - eggs, bacon, pancakes, bagels, cereal, toast, oatmeal, fancy coffees, and several juices - - and the famous warm cinnamon rolls I would definitely stay here again. Great value for the room and breakfast. Very comfortable surroundings including the sitting chair and lamp....nice place to sit, relax and read.
