I stayed at the non smoking floor. The room guest at the other side or my room smoking and open the door every day, but no hotel staff stop him. I tried to made taxi reservation to airport 2 days earlier my flight day, but the front desk told me that I can only book the taxi one day earlier; otherwise, they will forget it.
Can you believe it?

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by missll Good frontdesk service but room had a bad smell and lack of cleanliness
left my cellphone charger at the hotel and staff helped to mail it to me in a timely manner. they are also helpful with finding directions and get us cabs.
room cleanliness could be improved. There are stains on the bathroom floor and the toilet. the room (1805) also has a bad smell (not sure whether it is due to the cleaning product or the humidity)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KiwiSuzanne !!!EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!
I live in a town with a population of 3000 and in a country where our entire population is only 4 million. This was my first trip out of the South Pacific. As much as I was delighted to be in China, the experience was quite overwhelming on many levels, but to come back to the Holiday Inn Express Temple of Heaven at the end of the day felt like a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment that I found myself very grateful for. It is the first of four different hotels I stayed in and I really want to communicate how impressed I was with the service here. The rooms were fairly basic, yet every need was attended to and they were very fresh, clean and tidy. The complimentary breakfast was simple but well rounded and with a reasonable variety of choices to suit most palates. What made this stay EXCELLENT rather than very good was the staff. My housemaid, Li, was polite, respectful, attentive and friendly. Tony, the front desk manager was outstanding! He went above and beyond my expectations to help me with my travel arrangements where I was having difficulty navigating the train timetables and when my flight was cancelled and I turned up again without a prior booking, again he took every care until I was resettled. I would be very content to return to this hotel and can confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a trustworthy, cheerful environment to rest whilst away from home.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Coffee71139 Good service but bad smell from the sewer
Stayed in this Hotel several times already, the previous issues with the insects has been taken care of since my last review, the Hotel now offers an electric insect repellent from the reception. Well done.
However this is the second room I had with a bad smell from the sewer, since the installation of the sewer is not contacting the sink and sewer perfectly. Used some wet toilet paper to wrap around the sewer connecting the floor, the smell was quickly gone. However the room service removed the paper and the smell was there again the next evening.
So please correct the installation in some of your rooms to prevent the bad smell.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hogi97 Value for money and friendly staffs!
Our stay in this hotel was certainly beyond our expectation. First after we checked in, we went to our room and were shocked to find out that our non smoking room got smoke smells. We immediately notify the front desk staffs who promptly respond to our request to change the room. Finally we were given same standard room but without smoke smell, were happy with that! The breakfast was nice though they do not provide wide range of food and beverages. But to be honest for the price that we've paid we couldn't ask for more! Will certainly stay in this hotel again in our next trip to Beijing!

Our stay in this hotel was certainly beyond our expectation! First when we went in to our room, immediately we realized that our room got smoke smell. We reported this to front desk and immediately they changed our room and this one was good, clean! The breakfast was nice though narrow variation in terms of food and beverages, but what would you expect for the money that you've paid!
I will certainly stay in this hotel again in my next visit to Beijing!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by McDaniel Perfect hotel to explore Beijing or as a base for business in China
This hotel has the best management and staff of any hotel I stay in in China, the reception, restaurant and guest room people are excellent, friendly and efficient.
On occasions I have had to ask for help with finding locations, buying train tickets, language problems, taxis and always the reception staff given an answer, with a smile!
For example I was having trouble booking a rail ticket so I could attend an important business meeting, I had visited the local ticket office and was told there were no seats available for at least 24 hours: Michelle on reception rang the local ticket office and helped find the last ticket available on the next train out. This is not her job to book rail tickets but as with many staff here they will go out of their way to help
The hotel location is close to Beijing centre with easy taxi, bus and train connections to the centre and to Beijing South Station for trips across China on the famous G-Trains.
The rooms are spacious and clean with a really good shower. The restaurant is great for breakfast and there is a good selection of food every morning. I recommend you try the local restaurants in the evening as there are some quite exceptional ones if you go searching. The surrounding area is a very interesting and an older area of Beijing with nearby markets, historical buildings tucked away in backstreets, Chinese theatres and, as I said, some really good restaurants happy to serve the “odd-foreigner”
There are some great places to visit within 5 minutes walking, the Temple of Heaven is a well-known attraction, but a lesser well known one is Taoran Park which is absolutely stunning and full of life in the morning and at weekends, very few foreigners visit but it’s one of Beijing’s most exciting spots.
One minute away is a Wu-Mart Supermarket which sells a huge range of stuff, so if you have forgotten to pack anything, it’s worth a visit, prices are low and I find the people there friendly.
This is a great value-for-money holiday or business hotel with a happy team running it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JackieFromDallas Best Breakfast Ever and Good Location if visiting Temple of Heaven
Although the room is average (but still clean), I have to say the breakfast is so awesome!!! Many many choices, Chinese style or American style. Hot or Cold. We booked the hotel using points, and get to enjoy the great food, wish we can stay there forever!
Also, we planed to visit Temple of Heaven, and amazingly, this hotel is within walking distance! It took us literally 8 minutes to get to the west gate of Temple of Heaven. And it is really worthwhile to visit Temple of Heaven if you come to Beijing.
I have to point out one drawback of the location - it is kind of far from subway stations and the hotel is not very easy to find.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 All you need
I booked this hotel (reward points) as we wanted a budget hotel near the city attractions and it didn't disappoint. Straightforward city, business type hotel catering for tourists too. Staff (most) speak good English, room comfortable, bed good, airco good, water pressure good, reasonable choice of TV channels. Only thing missing was a fridge in the room. Breakfast was OK (hard to get good bread in China I guess but OK), although fruit choices was poor, chinese/asian choice was good.
All-in-all a good hotel I would recommend, took a day tour to the Wall and Ming tombs very good tour operator, excellent English of tour guide - good value for money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HazemZ Excellent Hotel: Service with Smile
Hotel is located near the important hot tourists places like Temple of Heaven & Tiananmen square. It is about 40 minutes away by taxi (due to traffic jams) from the shopping malls & shopping districts. Around the hotel no shops are available just a major supermarket called Wu Mart which is 5 minutes away on foot. Local restaurants and other barber shops are around. On the other direction from the Wu Mart, KFC restaurant is there about 20 minutes of foot. In the same hotel building there is a small deli shop where you can buy Water and other quick packed items like chocolates & biscuits.
On arrival to Beijing Airport I followed the advises to take the Express Train then Taxi, but the end result is that when arrived to the station Taxi Drivers started to ask 5 times the Meter Fare starting 300 RMB, at the end one Taxi that I flagged to in the street drove us to the hotel for 46 RMB and even I paid him 60 RMB including tip he was very happy and the service was good. On our way to Airport, we took a Taxi, the meter fare was 135 RMB i.e. the Same Cost for 3 Adults with Train and Taxi, but with Quick Direct Clean Service.
Therefore the Advice is if you are 2 or more driving from Airport to Downtown, take a Taxi.
Hotel front desk staff are very friendly & helpful, I reserved a Double Room with an Extra Bed for a total RMB about 2,550 for the 4 Nights, on arrival the front desk staff informed me that they have Special Offer for Advance Booking (my case) who will stay more than 2 Nights (my case) to have FREE of Charge 3rd Person (Extra bed & Breakfast), which dropped down my total cost of stay to be 2,010 RMB instead of 2,550 RMB. He was honest enough to inform me about that although I was satistfied with my booking of 2,550 RMB.
Room was very good (space wise with the extra bed), the TV has only CNN & HBO as English speaking Channels while the rest were Chinese. The Room has NO Mini Bar i.e. No Fridge in the room which was a draw back in HOT Summer High Temp, but when I asked the Restaurant for Ice Cubes and Container, they provided both with a smile, then I filled a big container with ice and embed inside Water & Juice bottles that stayed COLD from afternoon till next morning.
Breakfast Buffet does not include much of International food, just the Boiled Eggs, some vegetables & Salads aside from cereals, butter & jam and Fruits. While Chinese food items were more than 10 or 12 serving plates. I wished if they serve some Fish like Smoked Salmon or Tuna Salad, but they never did.
The Internet connection in the room as per my booking, supposed to have WiFi in the room free of charge, when checked in the 5th floor (547), the Signal was very week to connect, I used the Cable but other NBs could not connect when claimed to the front desk they promised to provide Access Point to strengthen the Signal, next day they apologized that all their Aps are in use, they I requested to solve out the problem, they offered Better Room in the 7th floor with excellent WiFi connect and even better view. Service was provided always with smile.
I think their only problem is that the Housekeeping Staff do not speak or understand English at all, so they missed the room cleaning once when we asked them to delay a bit, but when asked the front desk in English they sent them to make up the room at once.
Conclusion Yes I will stay again in this hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by McDaniel Excellent hotel, excellent staff and great location
This is a great base from which to enjoy a holiday or work pursuits, service is fast, friendly and efficient and the main bus, subway and main-line G-Train routs are easily accessible.
The area is not built up with modern high-rise buildings and it's a great place to enjoy a slice of Beijing life, nearby (walking) are two of the best Beijing Attractions ,the Temple of Heaven and Taoran Park,
& local restaurants are friendly.

Good front desk service, clean predictable and comfortable room, ample breakfast, wi-fi good in public area but spotty in room though wired connection was fine. Good value for money. Location in older neighborhood made walking around interesting and food options authentic and reasonable. Near local shops and services. Close enough to subway and within walking distance (2-3 km) of major sights, shopping, museums, etc. made this a good location for tourism without being stuck in a modern high-rise hotel and office area. Would definitely stay there again.

I visited Beijing for 2 days and decided on this location because it was very well rated much to my disappointment. The rooms are at best average, the bed is ok. The buffet breakfast is more like a zoo. Too many people, not enough selection, not enough seats. With that said, since the stay is inexpensive, you get what u pay for

WE stayed for 3 nights in this hotel , its pretty locatable to all main shopping centres , rooms are pretty good and particularly staff are ready to help you all the time. I really appreciate one of the staff over thier Ms. Nicole who from the time we checked in till we checked out was helping us out in everything as she only knows English. She made our stay wonderful and helped us in reaching all good places . She is your best staff and deserves high promotions , very friendly and due to her , if we come to Beijing , will stay in your hotel . Also will recommend your hotel to others , only thing as lot of Indians i saw in your hotel , your breakfast should have some vegeterian dishes..

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worldtravellercouple Comfortable facilities and good value for money
Excellent facilities, starting from clean and well maintained rooms and bathrooms. I spent 7 nights in this hotel in Beijing, and I was not disappointed by the Holiday Inn Express brand, which I knew from other experiences.
One should not expect luxury, or porters carrying the luggage. In this brand, as the name indicates, it is an "Express" hotel. But, the quality of the rooms and facilities is well up to date and are very clean and comfortable. And in terms of service, you have all you need.
Although most employees are not fluent in English, at the front desk they put in place an interesting mix, with young and cheerful clerks, supervised by a perfectly fluent person who would come to help and support at any sign of difficulty. I was 100% satisfied with the assistance of the front desk for booking tours, taxis, general information and directions.
The down side of the hotel is the location. It is short and walking distance from the Temple of Heaven, one of the main attractions in Beijing, but a good 20 min walk to the closest metro station.
Breakfast is included in the price, unlike most hotels in China, which is a plus. The quality of the food is very good, however, westerners would face some difficulty with the food style and choices, which is more asian style. Nevertheless I could manage well in picking what suited my taste.
