Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Close to University of Cincinnati Hospital My wife was in the hospital and we decided to spend the night at this Holiday Inn. I made reservations for 2 queen beds. We arrived and were given our room. Upon entering our room, the beds weren’t made, bed linen was thrown in a corner, and the bathroom was a mess. We were then given a free room for the night, and to give the hotel another chance to make things right. Upon entering this room, it smelled of smoke, but this is a non-smoking hotel. I told the front desk and she assured me we wouldn’t be charged for the cleaning. It was a long day and 1230 in the morning, we were beat. I was also told that I would receive the 500 IHG points for the room but since it was a free room, it is considered a non-qualifying stay and I get 0 points. We had to spend the next night in Cincinnati so I gave the same hotel another chance. This time I checked in at 2:30 in the afternoon, there was a clean room so they gave it to us. At around 9:30 that night we rolled into the room but there was a “Do Not Disturb” on the door and our keys would not work. We went down to the front desk and was told that our room had a heat issue. There were no more 2 bed rooms that were made up. Housekeeping was still there and we were given a choice of waiting for a 2 bed room to be made up or given a king room. We were both worn out and took the king bed, housekeeping immediately left and went home. If you knew that I wanted a room with 2 beds why wasn’t the room made up before we arrived. The night clerk at the from desk said that he could only offer 5000 points but he assured me that he would talk to his supervisor to get us more points for the inconvenience. Upon leaving the next morning I asked the girl at the desk if I would be given any points. She said she would give me 5000 points for my trouble and that it would be in my account the next morning. I am still waiting for those points to show up. I just hope no one else has to go thru this mess. January 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quick trip Stayed at this property for a quick trip for a book signing and some snow tubing close by. Nice property and room. The breakfast selection was a little limited as to what I usually see at the same hotels. January 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff Great/Room Meh Staff members were kind/courteous/helpful. Breakfast was standard for a HIE, which is nice. Room was not in the best shape, including large stain in carpet by one of the beds, badly broken tile in the bathroom, and coffee stains on the wall by the wet bar and also by the entry door. There were also "clumps" of dirt on the elevator floor that stayed there for the duration of my stay. January 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant Surprise We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. When I made the reservations, I made it solely on the closeness to the Taft Theater and was assured by whoever I talked to that it was extremely close and it was. The hotel was convenient, well lit and comfortable. The breakfast food was the only negative. Very poor selection of cereal and no bacon - just turkey sausage which was way too spicy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place To Stay This was our second stay in this hotel and this room! Love the suite. It is a great value and meets our needs perfectly. The hotel staff is very attentive to any questions or concerns. Everything is very clean including the stairways where we meet a staff person on their hands and knees vacuuming the steps! Food selection at the breakfast area is great and always kept hot and clean! January 7, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Inn for a Quiet night I have stayed at thousands of hotels and this is the first time ever that I checked out early and went home. The noise in this hotel is terrible. You can hear conversations of you neighbor like they were in your own room. You can hear every step of the people above you as the floor creeks while they walk. I notified the front desk at 11:30 that there was just too much noise and she did offer to move us, but I had both my kids in bed and said if I have to pack everything up and get the kids dressed to move we would just leave. We waited for the noise to stop, but it never stopped and at 12:30 is when the neighbors were just starting their party. This is when the pizza arrived for them. None of us could sleep- so we checked out at 12:30 am and I drove over 2 hours to go home. The issue I have is this- with a completely empty hotel (only a few cars in the lot) why was we all placed side by side? Secondly, we had a suite that we were paying a premium for so why could it not be a nice quiet room (why is this such a noisy room)? The lady at the front desk said she was not surprised that the room next to us was going to be noisy. As far as the other issues- The breakfast was the worst ever at a holiday inn. The juice was room temperature and when I let them know- they offered to put ice in my orange juice. I guess their refrigeration was not working. The eggs were crusty (I think they microwaved them too long). The pancake machine was broken. For some reason there was a dog roaming the hallways. I also let the front desk know and they said that there should not be animals in the hotel, but the day manager seen this and said nothing. The dog was in the eating area also and it was not a service dog. Because we checked out, we were not charged for the room but it is very disappointing and this will probably change our view of the Holiday Inn chains for future travel. As a long time business traveler, I would want to know if I could get a nice sleep in a hotel so I wrote this review. December 31, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fine for a quick overnight trip. Convenient and perfectly adequate. This place won't dazzle you with amenities, but if you need a place that's convenient with easy access to Newport, it fits the bill. December 30, 2014
