Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good service and decor but noisy room We stayed only 1 night and the only issues I had with our stay were 1) that the construction/remodel on the 3rd floor caused a paint/adhesive smell on the floor and 2) the ouside noise seemed high when in the room. It was almost like a window wasn't closed tightly (but they were). The staff was very friendly. They let us check in early in the day when our plans changed due to the weather. The breakfast was very good and the woman working in the breakfast area was very friendly with all of the guests. August 14, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Renovation, ask for a completed room Property is undergoing a renovation to bring it up to modern style. I stayed in a room that was completed that week (possibly that day), so it was nice to have everything new. The hall carpet must have just been laid down, because there was an overwhelming odor of adhesive and/or chemicals in the hallway. While that was detectable in the room it wasn't as bad and I could bring fresh outside air in using the air conditioner. I didn't watch it, but the TV seemed like it was a little small compared to other HIE's I've stayed in, although it wasn't that long ago that a 20" set was the norm. It was a little confusing getting to the property from the highway because you have to make a few unexpected turns to get to the building. August 12, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by food don't wish to comment further the food was cold, the gravy too sweet for sausage gravy. the eggs were cold, the sausages flavorless. the coffee was good. the pancakes were ok. condiments need to be more focal, didn't see the salsa for the eggs until I was done. warmers need to keep the food warmer. the service, though was good. she kept the trays full as quickly as she could August 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Updated Hotel, Poor Customer Service I stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Express in Bonner Springs off of I-70 and the location is ideal, very close to Legends and all that it offers. The room was great, newly updated, which I enjoyed. When I checked in the staff was friendly and helpful. Downside, my DOOR WAS OPENED while I was sleeping in the morning (this woke me up.) I had the top lock on or they could have walked right in. As a woman staying alone I was concerned. I called down to the front desk and the man that answered the phone was adamant that he did not do it. I did not accuse him, I simply wanted to let him know what happened and to look into it. He was more concerned with making sure that he said his piece about not being the one to open the door, and not even an apology for that experience. When I left the room I was greeted by a very friendly construction manager that stated he opened the door as they do every morning as they are still working on this floor and apologized that he was not told that anyone was staying on this floor. I very much appreciated his honesty and apology. The staff obviously has poor communication skills at this hotel and even worse customer service. August 11, 2014
