My eighty-one year old mother and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Cedar City, Utah for the night of Saturday, June 6th, 2015. When making our reservations online, we requested a room on the top floor, away from any noise, and we were given a room on the top floor away from the elevator. We were also recognized as Gold Elite members of their IHG Rewards Club and were given a choice between a gift basket (bottled water and some nuts) or 300 points. We took the points.
The large-sized outdated room included two queen-sized beds, each with four pillows on them (two soft and two firm), a well worn couch, a coffee table, a desk with an office chair, a large HD television (that needed to be dusted) and remote with lots of channels, free WiFi, a kitchenette with a mini-fridge (that needed to be defrosted), microwave (which was dirty on top), a sink and a coffeemaker, and a closet area that contained an iron and ironing board.
The medium-sized old style bathroom had plenty of room to move around in, and included three sets of towels, a hairdryer, bottles of shampoo and hand lotion, as well as two bars of soap. The shower had a handle, but it was on the outside, which made it difficult to use when in the shower.
The hotel is located near the interstate on a side road, which we missed on our first attempt to reach the property. Also, parking was at a premium on the day we arrived.
Overall, we were a bit disappointed with our stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Cedar City. After staying at three fairly new HIE's the previous three nights, arriving at this aged property was a bit of a downer. We could forgive that had the room been clean, but that was not the case either. The person in the morning at the front desk mentioned that the hotel would be updated sometime in the new year (2016), and we look forward to this as it is definitely needed.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Midland63 Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms!!
Upon our arrival the hotel clerk was friendly and welcoming. Check in was easy and quick. Our room was clean, loved that, as that is important to me. The beds were comfortable. They had white down comforters on, so much better than the old patterned ones that slide around:(( The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. What more could you ask for:))

I know this is a hot spot for vacations, but I thought the price we paid was too high to this motel!

This was my first experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Cedar City, Utah. I was not impressed at all, to say the least. We paid a relatively high amount a night for a Friday and Saturday evening, and in my opinion, it was overpriced. Even if our stay was perfect, which it wasn't, it still would have been overpriced, but unfortunately we had some problems while we were there.
To begin with, the sink in the bathroom was clogged upon our arrival and the alarm clock did not work (couldn't read any of the numbers) and we had to go to the front desk and ask for a new one. In addition, the bathroom door did not lock, and when the housekeeping ladies cleaned our room after the first night, they did not fill up the toilet paper and tissue in the bathroom. We also asked for a couple of extra towels and did not receive them. It's a little silly to me that you pay for two queen beds for 4 people, but they only stock the room with 3 bath towels each day. How much sense does this make? None. In addition, only some of the double-queen rooms have a mini fridge in them and others do not. Guess what ours had? No fridge. Also, none of the double-queen rooms have microwaves in them. This seems really strange to me. Most of the mid-range priced hotels I've stayed in have microwaves and fridges in them.
The employees at the front desk were very nice and helpful, but we just kept having problem after problem. They gave us a small discount on the second night of our stay, but honestly, is a small discount going to make me want to stay here again? Absolutely not. We could have stayed at a different hotel just down the road for a little bit cheaper per night than what we paid. And as I stated before, even without the problems we had during our stay, I still think that the price we paid, even for weekend nights, is too high - at least for this hotel. For me, a better solution than a few dollars off our total bill, would have been to give us at least one complete night free of charge, or a gift card to return in the near future for 2 nights' stay, free of charge.
On a side note, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Logan, Utah just a few weeks earlier and our stay there was absolutely lovely. It was cheaper for a Friday and Saturday night, and it was a much nicer stay - and at a much better, more fair rate. Sorry, but after my experience, I will never stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Cedar City, Utah again. I will definitely stay at one of the other hotels just down the road.
