And considering the prices for the other hotels around the area, it was a great value! The room and hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent!!! It was great that it's close to the trolley stop too, since we rode that every day. We will definitely be staying here again in the future. June 10, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Facility, Great Staff, Comfy Room We were pleased to stay in a handicap room on the first floor as I need assistance in the bathroom and shower. This room was well set up and easy to maneuver around. Our only problem was the pool party that went on at 2am, the thumping on the floor above us and the knocking on our door. We didn't call the desk, just tried to ignore it. Kids will be kids. On check out I mentioned it to the staff and they were unaware of anything happening. We plan on staying there again later this month and have recommended it friends. June 9, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Good hotel The hotel was good in every respect, but it was not as close to downtown as we hoped. One of the trolley that goes to downtown stops by the hotel, but the service ends at 8.30 pm . If you want to stay at this hotel and enjoy the city you do need a car. June 7, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient connection to Charleston's DASH free trolley This is a newly rejuvenated large hotel which previously operated under a different name and, presumably, different management. Upgrading has been done tastefully, but occasionally there are reminders of the past (for example, corroded bathroom door hinges). Staff is friendly and eager to please. Help was available with getting our luggage cart up the steep incline at front entrance (and all the way to our upper floor room). Greatest advantage of this hotel, however, is its convenient access to the nearby stop on one of the DASH trolley line's key routes. The trolley conveys visitors directly to one of our favorite restaurants and always makes a stop at the Visitors' Center, where it is possible to transfer to the other DASH lines (which convey visitors to key restaurant areas and other attractions). All in all, a good stay in a beautiful and charming city. June 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly, Welcoming Staff...but... Upon arrival after a long drive there was construction going on at the entrance to the hotel. I parked and brought my luggage inside. I had to cut through some bushes because I could not get around the workers and a shuttle taking up all of the walkway. The staff was very friendly when I got inside and mentioned they should put a sign outside. But left it at that. I stay very often at your properties as I travel M-F for work. I usually have a great experience. The customer experience begins outside. Dragging my luggage through the bushes was not a positive memorable experience. The room was tiny and I was put next to the electrical room which was very loud all night. I thought it odd since I reserved a king executive room. Also NO recognition for Priority Club. It wasn't a terrible stay. The gym was clean and had great, working machines...including a rowing machine! There are just too many choices to return or recommend this hotel. I love the HIE in Mt. Pleasant and will spend my future visits there. Thanks for reading! June 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed but small bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. I felt the bathroom was limited with space and there was very little room to place a makeup bag while getting ready in the bathroom. The breakfast was nice with plenty of choices. Loved that the trolley was right outside of the hotel to get to do downtown attractions- that made it very convenient. For the price I would have liked to have had a larger counter space in the bathroom but otherwise it was a nice stay. June 4, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay for a Week Away We found this location while looking for a hotel close to Folly Beach where two weddings we were attending that weekend were both located. This Holiday Inn Express was perfectly situated: close to the historic district, close to restaurants, and less than 30 minutes from the wedding venues. The room seemed a little less than brand new b/c it looked like there was previous water damage on the ceiling, but it didn't smell musty. Also, the light from the microwave clock facing the bed is annoying, but I'm picky about that stuff. I simply covered up the microwave clock, unplugged the extremely bright alarm clock, and slept fine in the comfy bed. The staff were all very nice and helpful, as well as knowledgable about things to do and places to eat around town. Breakfast was ok...I'm a fan of really good thick could read a newpaper through the stuff they served. However, they have this pecan roll that is DELISH. May 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not a new hotel, but good staff The Holiday Inn Express website describes this hotel as "new" and it should be "newly renovated". When guests specifically choose this "new" hotel and arrive expecting a brand new facility, they are bound to be disappointed. The staff was very helpful. Due to heavy rain, the hotel's parking lot and historic downtown had flooded areas. I believe it was the manager who helped us -- explaining about the flooding and suggesting a restaurant we could walk to, despite the rain. She was the bright spot in our stay. The breakfast offerings were below average with no fresh fruit, no un-sugared cereal and no whole wheat bread or bagels. Some HIE breakfasts include healthier options that make the stay much more pleasant. May 13, 2013

When we got to the room the air handler was broken and needed replaced. The maintenance team was great -- pleasant, efficient and terrific representatives for the hotel. In general this was not the best experience I've had with a Holiday Inn, but not bad either. The breakfasts were very good! May 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Where is the easy chair? Decent location for easy access to Historic District. We found it more convienient to drive where we wanted to go versus utilizing the free trolley. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. To relax in room, required lying on the bed, the room did not have a comfortable chair to sit in. Our selection of a King Leisure room was changed on our request because the bath did not feature a tub, just a shower. The bathroom in the room we had was very small and the exhaust fan was very noisey and was not exhausting anything. We had a couple of issues in regaining access from the pool area. The room was serviceable for our need for a place to get cleaned up and sleep. The staff was alway helpful and customer focused. May 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful I stayed here for my cousins wedding. the staff was great small gym which is nice, pool the food was a big variety. and a very good host Robin......:) coffee & teas free of charge 24hrs in lobby. convenient trolly and taxi to town. which is very close, front desk and managers are very helpful with every need. they also have a small sort of store if you need items. like toothpaste, toothbrush, asprins. post cards, souvenirs, lilttle things like that. The room had not been serviced, nor did anyone come by to do so later. Happy to get my own washcloths, but should have been at least bussed properly. May 5, 2013

Attractive lobby area with outdoor pool and fitness center on site. Hotel is conveniently located and accessible to downtown shopping area by public transportation. Restaurants are within walking distance for lunch and dinner, and breakfast buffet is served in the hotel dining room. Altogether, a delightful experience and good value at moderate cost. May 2, 2013

The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The beds and pillows were excellent! It was very quiet and we had a wonderful stay! I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn. If I am back in the Charleston area for a vacation (or a medical appt) I will most definitely stay here! Thanks for making this a great stay! April 27, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOT as advertised First, this property is NOT new! It is advertised as new on the HIEx website and when you call they answer "The NEW HIEx.....". Apparently the lobby and reception area are new, but the tower containing the rooms is merely "renovated" with new paint and maybe some new furniture and linens. Expecting a new and modern property we were very disappointed upon entering our room. The bedspread had hair on it and there was debris on the carpet...we decided to just stay thinking it may be hard to find other accommodations. However after more thought we decided to leave and called to inquire about that possibility. We were told that they wanted us to be happy and were very sorry about the issues. When we returned to get our luggage...prior to 6pm...we were told that the "upper management" had told them that we would have to pay for the first night because they had a 24 hour cancellation policy. We were not cancelling, we were checking out because we were dissatisfied with the property for the reasons mentioned above. I am requesting a refund of that 1 night stay and possibly some incentive as additional points to encourage me to remain a loyal Priority Club Member. We have stayed in almost exclusively HIExpress for several years doing extensive travelling. Recently we have been disappointed several time due to lack of consistency in the quality. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Inexperienced Staff Upon check in my friend asked to have the room charges put on her credit card. Mine had been used to make the reservation. The young man at the front desk took her card and swiped it. Upon return home I called to make sure they took the charges off my card and put on her card as requested. The gal at customer service advised he did not do that. He had only used her card for incidental charges (which there was none). That has created a problem for the two of us splitting the cost of the trip. We were also assigned a room and just as we got unpacked and settled in the room someone came to the door and said we would have to move to another room because they had to repair our sliding glass door. Told us the other room would be a upgrade but it was identical to the first one. The staff is untrained and not good on customer service. April 23, 2013
