Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Durchschnittliches Hotel für Geschäftsreisende Sauberkeit und Ordentlichkeit der Zimmer OK. Parken nur gegen Gebühr, wenige freie Parkplätze direkt vor dem Hotel. WLAN ohne Gebühr im Frühstücksraum, Internet nur per Kabel (gegen Gebühr) im Zimmer. Leider Internet Konnektivität "wertlos", da keine Verbindung mittels VPN möglich, d.h. der Server bietet hierzu keine Portierung an. Damit kann seine eigenen e-mails auf seinem Rechner nicht replizieren. February 3, 2014

If they'd just make the beds and pillows more comfortable and installed wireless Internet in the rooms, I would recommend it. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bad sleep and bad service The pillows in this hotel are like marsh mellows to soft, when i tried asking for harder pillows the front desk no answer for over 30 min, do i have to get out of bed to go to the desk for help. When i asked what kind of hotel has no staff on duty for problems i got a short sharp answer this one. December 19, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Cologne - Mulheim Germany (21 Aug '13 - 26 Aug '13) My 5 night stay was good and fairly close to Koelnmesse (Site of Gamescom 2013 a 60min walk approx), Cologne Cathedral (1hr 20min walk approx) and Cologne/Bonn Airport (35min drive approx). The staff understood English very well and were willing to explain breakfast times as well as other services. I think it cost a bit too much. The daily housekeeping was a bit annoying. The main reason I stayed at Holiday Inn Express Cologne - Mulheim was because I've stayed at Holiday Inn Express Birmingham NEC for 1 night (15 Sept - 16 Sept) in 2011 for GAMEfest @ the NEC, so I had a standard of what was acceptable and value for money. My overall verdict very good, would recommend to friends and family. September 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap clean and efficient Just what we expected, a small, clean room, with small clean shower room, we could have been in the Southampton Holiday Inn Express. Hotel situated just too far away from town to be easy, a ten minute walk down a back street to the Strassenbahn and then Underground into town. Personnel a bit too efficient, not warm, and spoke extremely quickly when asked a question, as if they had to answer, but didn't really want to. Whole town being dug up while we were there unfortunately. McDonalds next door to hotel with free wifi. Breakfast ok for the cost ( included in room charge) but disappeared quickly and when I asked the lady doing breakfast for more sliced meat, she brought just two slices for our party of four!!! Obviously briefed to keep costs down, but hey, it was cheap and cheerful, so who is complaining! Car park outside looked slightly dodgy and not sure what I was paying for, but car remained undamaged. Cheapest hotel we stayed in on our 8 day trip to Europe, but also the most easily forgettable!! August 26, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rechnung beim Check-Out - 15 Minuten!!! Das Personal am Service Desk (zumindest einige) bedürfen dringend einer Schulung! Ich mussste noch nie so lange auf meine Rechnung warten beim Check-Out. Auch der Kunde vor mir wartete ca. 10 Minuten, was meine Wartezeit nochmal in dielänge zog! 1) Der Drucker funktionierte nicht. 2) Obwohl ich extra meine Visitenkarte beim Check-In abgegeben hatte, war die Rechnungsanschrift vom Check-In Personal noch nicht im System gepflegt. 3) Der Mitarbeiter, der meine Rechnung bearbeitete schien sichtlich überfordert. Mit Zweifinger-Suchsystem tippte er die Rechnungsanschrift ins System - man hat das gedauert. Noch nicht einmal sein Namenschild hatte der richtig rum am Revers - das stand Kopf. In dem Hotel scheine keine Standards zu existieren! Ob das Hotel-Management davon ausgeht, dass Kunden so etwas nicht bemerken??? Ich sprach das Thema der lang dauernden Rechnungsstellung bei dem Mitarbeiter an - ausser Entschuldigungen bzgl. der nicht funktionierenden Hardware kam nichts. Komischerweise konnte dessen Kollegin eine Rechnung innerhalb von 1-2 Minuten aus dem System lassen. Wohl doch eher eine Frage der richtigen Technik und des richtigen Trainings bzgl. Umgang mit Computersystemen und wohl doch eher eine Einstellungsfrage zum Job! July 1, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Durchschnittshotel - leider teilweise mit Freundlichkeitsdefizit Nach einem Geschäftstermin mit anschliessendem Dinner erreichte ich das Hotel erst nach Mitternacht. Die Lage ist sehr verkehrsgünstig nur ein paar hundert Meter von der A3 entfernt. Der Check-in ging freundlich und kompetent über die Bühne - wenngleich auch ohne explizite Begrüssung als Elite Gold Member. Leider war aber wieder einmal die Rechnungsadresse trotz Eingabe bei der Buchung nicht hinterlegt. Die freundliche Rezeptionistin suchte im System, fand die korrekte Adresse und setzte diese als Standard ein Anschließend gab's noch ein Gute-Nacht-Bier in der Bar, die bis 2 Uhr geöffnet ist. Das Zimmer entsprach dem HI Ex Standard und war sauber. Das Frühstück ist - gemessen am Standard anderer HI Ex Hotels - unterdurchschnittlich was die Auswahl der Zutaten angeht. Dies liegt aber offenbar am Franchisenehmer, denn in anderen Hotels dieser Nehmer-Gesellschaft ist das Frühstück ähnlich "schmal". Ganz profanes Beispiel: auf mein geliebtes Croissant musste ich leider verzichten. Beim Check-out wurde ich durch eine offenbar morgenmuffelige oder schlecht gelaunte Rezeptionistin sehr herablassend behandelt. Das hat kein Hotelgast, egal ob Priority Club, Gold oder Platinmitglied oder einfacher Gast verdient. Der Höhepunkt jedoch war die Tatsache, dass diese Dame die am Vorabend hinterlegte Adresse wieder nicht fand und die Rechnung mit falscher Adresse ausdruckte. Im System konnte die Rezeptionistin die korrekte Anschrift auch nicht finden und gab widerwillig die Daten händisch anhand meiner Visitenkarte ein. Freundlichkeit sieht deutlich anders aus. Location not far from the tramway and esay connections to the underground. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, the Holiday Inn Trademark is very well identified wherever you visit an hotel like this. June 6, 2013

Problems:- No WIFI in rooms, not acceptable today, Internet terminal in lobby wanted €9 per hour. No orange juice at breakfast The only place to eat was MacDonalds next door. Too far from public transport links. In the evening it was difficult to get staff to the bar for drinks, only one staff doing office duties, reception and bar. June 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Guter Schlaf, schlechtes Frühstückserlebnis Wir waren nunmehr das vierte Mal in diesem Hotel. Bisher verliefen unsere Aufenthalte auch immer zur Zufriedenheit. Das war auch wieder mit dem Zimmer so, so dass wir drei Nächte ruhig und entspannend schlafen konnten. Beim Frühstück waren wir jedoch teilweise sprachlos und angeekelt. Vor uns wurde die Salami alle, daraufhin sprach ich nach einiger Zeit eine Mitarbeiterin an, sie möge doch bitte Salami nachlegen. Ich bekam daraufhin die Antwort, dass auch die andere Wurst gegessen werden müsse und sie erst nachlegt, wenn diese auch alle ist. Da freut sich der Gast, wenn so mit ihm umgegangen wird. Nun zum absoluten "no go", Genau diese Mitarbeiterin, die offenbar an den Osterfeiertagen total überfordert war, benutzte einen Wischlappen, der den Namen nicht verdient. Der Lappen war fast schwarz, roch von weiten schon ekelig und wurde die drei Tage, an denen wir frühstückten, für alles benutzt, was es zum Wischen gab. Krümel grundsätzlich vom Tisch auf die Erde, über den Tisch geschmiert, dann weiter auf die Stuhlsitze und wieder zum nächsten Tisch. Zwischendurch nochmal an der Kaffeemaschine oder am Buffet. Dabei in der freien Hand neue Messer und Servietten. Zwischendurch auch mal Handwechsel. Einfach unhygienisch! Wir wissen im Moment nicht, ob wir bei unseren nächsten Kölnaufenthalten wieder hier einchecken. April 6, 2013

Thnx to my earplugs I could more or less sleep comfortably. breakfast is mediocre. Hotel with no presence ... Clean and tidy but no atmosphere .. Good access though to all roads. March 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location pour hotel The Hotel is located pretty close to the center and to the Dom. But here ends my good report. The breakfast is OK and nothing more. and the room we stayed in was very small for a triple. the folding bad was terrible and my son really suffered. our bed is not a double bed by no means and the blankets where tiny. but over all we requested a non smoking room, but the whole floor had a heavy smell of smoke and so did the beds and the pillows. when we complained the lady at reception told me there is nothing much she can do. I'm planing a tour to Cologne next year but I'm not going to stay in this hotel again. March 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by no complaints or concerns After a long drive the staff on reception made us feel welcome and explained everything we needed to know. the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable everything was fine. breakfast was basic but of good quality and the plates / mugs clean and easy to find around the food / drinks reception gave good advise regarding public transport and the different area's of Cologne. it is the budget arm of Holiday Inn and it is good value, clean and convenient that is all I want December 23, 2012

But i was surprised that the WiFi access or room internet was only for very expensive payment!!! ( 1h / 4 Euro Wow..... ) This is meanwhile normal Standardservice for Hotel Guests in european Hotels. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by almost top, but I everything was at a good level, one thing is not so amazing and very old fashioned : internet is only available by wire connexion inside the room.An not free at all : 14 €/day or 4€/hour Wireless only available at the lobby. This is today, as the most of business traveller people are using an Ipad or other tablet, really out of date. More, in 80% of hotels the wireless cx. is free. You have to think about. Ok, for me it was a leisure travel, so it didn't really disturb me. But if I were in a business trip I wouldn't choose this hotel for this reason. December 1, 2012

My only remark concerns the reception desk: the young lady did her job, no doubt, but she could have been replaced by a robot. Not a word of welcome, not a smile, nothing. The next morning, same coldness, not even a "thank you to stay with us". It is just a pity. Her life would be so much better if she was somewhat more pleasant. October 20, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Air conditioning units Essentially we are happy with this chain of hotels and used you before on quite a few different occasions in different countries. However, this stay was spoilt, we believe, by our room being immediately underneath the air conditioning unit. InitiIally we could hear the unit machinery cutting in and out as it does to get to the right temperature, then it was continiuosly noisy. We had booked for two nights and felt we didn't want to have a second bad night in that room, so we asked to be moved. Thankfully that was no problem, it was just disruptive. We felt it was unfortunate to be allocated that particular room. Was the hotel quite full we wondered? So not the best experience we are sorry to say. . . October 13, 2012
