Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by old and dirty.. I have stayed at Holiday Inn Express Hotels before--they are clean and smell clean and make me feel pampered to be in such pleasant surroundings. This was an older hotel, and looked its age. The front desk ladies were wonderful--very pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. But it went downhill from there. The rug in the elevator was disgustingly filthy. The room door was very difficult to access from the hall--we had to swipe it several times before it would finally light "green" to let us in. I had booked the "honeymoon suite." It was located about 8 feet away from the elevator--Why in the world would someone put a honeymoon suite where all the traffic on the third floor had to not only walk by the door, but stand by it to wait for the elevator? Didn't feel private at all. As soon as we walked into the room we could smell old cigarette smoke--I don't know if a guest had smoked in it recently, but it smelled like all the old hotel rooms that were called "non-smoking" when the law passed, but the smell remains. Disgusting. The room was small--big enough for the king bed but not spacious like the other HIE rooms I've stayed in. The whirlpool tub was stuck in the corner of a handicapped sized bathroom, with barely enough room for two people to squeeze into. I was very disappointed. I'm not the type to complain, but I have to tell you--this was more like a room in a highway discount hotel that what I've come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. May 26, 2016
