Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Do Better... I am not only a customer but a Rewards Member. That means that I have made the decision to be loyal to Holiday Inn Express. In those instances where several hotels are in an area, I will choose Holiday Inn. I'm the type of customer that I think would be treated just a bit better to make sure I continue to be a repeat customer. Here's my brief story. When I arrived after driving 700 miles I was greeted by a friendly yet fatigued desk clerk (she told me she was tired). She told me that I had room #XXX but the card sleeve had another room written in it. I asked her for clarification and she told me that both rooms were wrong and that my room would be #211. Great! Off to bed I go, but... Room #211 is the very front room. The view from the room reminds me of the cartoon when the curtains are opened to the view of a brick wall. In my case, the view was of the stucco awning that covers the front entrance (see the attached pictures). Also, the room was directly in front of the elevator. Lastly, the decorative blue exterior lights that Holiday Inn uses at night cast just enough light into the room to disrupt sleep (the black-out curtains could not block the light). Why would Holiday Inn issue this room to any customer, let alone a Rewards Member, without informing the customer of such an objectionable view and of the light issue at night. Had I been informed of the objectionable nature of the room and been given a choice, I wouldn't be upset. The fact that the room was given to me in this manner upsets me. The fact that I'm a preferred customer and was treated this way aggravates the issue. Just as a suggestion to the hotel... You may want to rethink placing the coffee machine on top of the TV cabinet. I had some difficulty making coffee and my 5'0" wife would have found it nearly impossible. A customer could not have been able to relocate the machine would unplugging it and taking it across the room. Sadly, I'm not sure if I will use this hotel the next time I'm in the area. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We Will Be Back This was an excellent Stop. From an easy friendly check in. Special close parking for "platinum" IHG members! Lots of good choices for food in easy walking distance. Our room was large, clean, well furnished. Room was convient to elevator & ice machine. All personnel we saw were professional, friendly, well trained & made us feel welcome. Breakfast was great & friendly. This is how the IHG program should be as a standard! January 11, 2016
