Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by If they can say "no" they will This hotel is awful. We were largely lured in by the free breakfast. I also wanted to give this hotel chain another try because of a fabulous experience we had had at a Holiday Inn Express in Alamosa, Colorado. The breakfast was sickening (watery eggs sound yummy?) and the hotel staff made us feel like an inconvenience and that our needs were ridiculous and stupid and that they had better things to do with their time than listen to them. Save your money and go to the Holiday Inn Resort down the street. May 2, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AMAZINGLY HOSPITABLE STAFF The front desk staff at this hotel (with a special shout out to Ms Kathy and Ms Yvonne... and the breakfast ladies as well!) have gone above and beyond for me during all three of my stays, to make a "vacation" style hotel function for me as a business traveler. I will continue to stay at this property when in the Texas City area on business...the commute is simple! And its nice to be able to drive over to a west beach after work and relax which I can't do when staying in Texas City! Thanks for everything guys! See you again soon. April 23, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Gaming behind the front desk wall Here is my story: I waited at the front desk lobby for several minutes one morning during my 2 week stay and was left unattended. Two employees from the kitchen area told the front desk person that I was standing there. He finally came out and expressed an extreme lack of interest in assisting me. All I needed was for him to take my laundry for dry cleaning. Him and I exchanged words, but nothing inappropriate. I expressed my dissatisfaction with his service. He refused to take the laundry and assured my that nothing would be done with it if I left it. I took my clothes back to the room. I called the manager later in the day and was assured it wouldn't happen again, but he did not answer my questions: Why did it take the front desk person being told twice to come up front? Why did I hear a TV, radio, or game playing behind the front desk wall where he was from (the sound stopped when he finally came up front)? Why was the other hotel staff so eager for me to report him (they insisted that i report him for playing games at night and gave me the manager's business card)? Why is this person still employed after refusing to take care of a customer? I need to know these things. Of all the Holiday Inn's I've stayed in, I've never experienced such. This is obviously something isolated to this location. I also see other service critiques on the website for this location. Please rebuild my confidence in Holiday Inn's excellent service. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay and great tranport to docks My wife and I drove in from Oklahoma City and sent about 9 hours on the road. we had made resavations earlier about 2 months ahead. the Hotel was easy to find and was close to walking gift shops and places to eat and free parking to leave our car there while we cruised for a week and the tranfer transport was 25.00 but that included both ways to and from the ship it was worth it. hope this helps anyone looking for a good , clean place to stay. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay This hotel is a good value. Very comfortable. Great extras. The only thing we needed were more pillows but we asked and got more. Everything else was great. Breakfast was very good. Clean and roomy. Had to go downstairs for ice but that's not bad. All in all I was surprised how good a value this hotel is. I plan to stay there again when I go to Galveston. March 25, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Attitude Despite the fact that this hotel appears to be new, had clean and good looking amenities there were several things wrong with our stay. I'll just list them: Check in was to be at 4:00pm. We got our room at 5:00pm - waiting in the lobby for one hour. Reception staff was un-attentive and rude. There was no management on duty at the time of our arrival. No attempt was made to offer us any redress for our inconvenience. Keys to our room were not programed - had to return to the desk after already waiting for one hour for our room to be made ready. There was no conditioner in the room. Despite a no-smoking policy - a beer can full of ashes and butts was left on the balcony. The Pool and the Hot tub were running but closed. March 1, 2014

There was, however, a really loud "ruckus" that lasted for quite some time. We were there during Mardi Gras weekend, but found out after looking outside that it was not from partiers getting out of hand, but from local law enforcement trying to enforce local law. I was surprised that it did not have the same level of comfort as other Holiday Inn Express hotels. (1) The sink in my room had a slow drain. I asked for maintenance to come to add Drano or what ever they had. As I was sitting in my room, a maintenance guy and housekeeper came in my room without knocking or calling out room service. I could have been unclothed or anything. I scared them by calling out, "what, you don't know or anyting?". They didn't even come for my issue, they came looking for something another guest left in the toom. I told the downstairs attendent, but she didn't seem that concerned. (2) You had to flush the toliet twice to get just the paper to go down. (3) There were ants in my bathroom. Overall the housekeepers were very nice and pleasant, and the people in the breakfast area were helpful and pleasant. However, for the money, I wil probably not stay here again or recommend it to my friends or family. February 13, 2014
