The Holiday Inn Express in Happauge was a great place for members of my family to stay for a family gathering we had in April 2016. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was efficient, courteous and helpful.

I've stayed in this hotel many times in the past and it's always been very good. However, this time checking in, I noticed that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations to all of the guest rooms and the common areas. The renovations to the guest rooms are a big improvement and something that a lot of the older hotels need to start doing - upgrading their furniture and chairs to allow people do work while traveling on business. I loved the new furniture including a real office chair for working. The desk is now part of a wall unit that includes the dresser, work desk, refrigerator and microwave and the middle for the TV. If I have any complaints, the TV is fairly small - especially in relation to the size of the space for the TV. At any rate, overall an excellent experience.

Considering the price I paid, I will not stay in a Holiday Inn Express soon. The heat pump/AC unit made the sound one hears in a jet when taxiing. ALL NIGHT. Had no bath towels which was not discovered until after I got out of the shower. Had to use the hand towels. When I reported this to the front desk at checkout, all I got was a "Sorry". No refund, no discount. Not at all classy or consumer sensitive. This was my first stay ever at a Holiday Inn Express and not likely to do again. Comfort Inns are much less expensive and I have never had a bad experience. The one time I did complain, I received a full refund. That's class.
