My room was very roomy and comfortable. my room was very clean. the staff was very and friendly and helpful directing us to the better eating places. the parking lot was very clean. when I return to Kilgore I will stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites.

The beds in the room were extremely comfortable. The attendant at the front desk was very obliging and tried to make everything work out efficiently. She was very friendly and should be complimented on her courtesy and friendliness.

Stayed for one night, mattress covers bunched up and slid around. The breakfast was average. Pancake maker was automatic, but it was out of dough. No one came through to check on things, however we only had a short time before having to check out, so didn't look for anyone. not too bad of a stay overall,

Overall our stay was pretty good. The front desk receptionist could use a lesson in customer service and the towels need to be replaced. However, the beds and pillows were comfortable, the a/c worked wonderfully and even though the hotel was full...I never heard the other guests!!

The swimming pool was so nice and clean.
Checking in and checking out was so easy.
Hotel staff very courteous.
Definitely will stay there again.

Overall the hotel was just fine. The remote for the tv would only change the channel, wouldn't turn the set off/on or adjust the volume. The internet would not work in our room.
Other than that it was fine.
They had an excellent breakfast. The best I've encountered at a holiday inn express.

Rooms are quiet and beds are very comfortable. Very friendly staff willing to do a some extra work to find you the room you are looking for to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Even the breakfast attendant was quick to offer a tray when she saw I was preparing to take food to the room. You won't find a nicer place or nicer group of people in the area.

This was my 2nd stay at this partcular location but I try to stay at this chain whenever I am out of town.
The rooms are large and accommodating and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable of the area and local attractions and restaruants.

We had made several reservations for trips in the summer dropping off and picking up from KC. On our first night we had been placed on the 3rd floor. Although we had requested a NON smoking room apparently the floor is mixed with smoking rooms. The smell on this floor and in our NON smoking suite was terrible.There was no way to escape the strong smell, even when our door was closed it seemed to be in the fabric of the room. We were returning 2 days later so we requested and were CONFIRMED by the front desk, a different floor and assurred we would not have a similiar experience. However, when we arrived we had been bumped from our guarenteed reservation and placed again on the SMOKING floor. It was another overnight stay in a disgusting smelling environment. I had confirmed the request in person- our request WAS NOT to be on the third floor. However it was changed without our consent or an attempt to contact us for alternatives.We were left with no choice but to stay and pay. Other issues were the vending machines on all floors were broken for both trips. The breakfast leaves alot to be desired, powdered eggs , the boiled eggs were green inside. We had to drive to find a different option for breakfast. We have changed all our future reservation to a different hotel.

This is a nice hotel and we had enjoyed staying there on a previous visit. Our last visit however was so unfortunate that we felt like we needed to share our experience. At our first visit the staff was very happy to tell us that we were welcome to book in the future and would be given a reduced rate due to one of our children being a student at the local college. We did so and were excited to return. When we arrived our rate was $40 higher than what we had booked. That was nearly 50% higher than what we had been offered and confirmed. The front desk staff was very apologetic but could do nothing. The decision was made by the GM. We called IHG Guest Relations for assistance as we are Rewards Club members. They were very apologetic and said they would give the GM the opportunity to correct the situation. He opted not to so IHG issued us the refund directly. With management taking a position like this I would strongly encourage anyone booking at this hotel to be very very careful with what is booked versus what is charged.

My overall stay was excellent. We were so busy during the day, our actual time at the room was at night so we needed the peace and quite that the motel offered. It would have been nicer to have a tv that worked, but life is hard sometimes.

The hotel was in a great location. The room was clean and bright, and the lobby was beautiful. The dining area for the buffet breakfast was also clean and had lots of room and good breakfast choices. Most of all, I enjoyed the swimming pool. I was able to swim laps for 30 minutes w/out feeling cold by the end of my swim.
I'll explain the first and last cons I put on the list. The entry way to enter and exit the parking lot is too narrow. Judging by the number of big cars and trucks I saw at the hotel, you need to widen it so that people can enter from the road safely without having to wait for the other cars and trucks to leave. In addition, you should put a smaller sign alerting travelers where the entry way is. It's very easy to miss it if one isn't familiar with the area. The cold A/C is fine when you first enter the room, but later on, 70 degrees becomes MUCH TOO COLD. The ambient temperature at all times should be 76 degrees. Many of my friends who were also staying at the hotel commented that they had to turn the thermostat up at night so they wouldn't feel so cold.
A couple of other improvements I suggest:
1. Use liquid soap instead of bar soap for the room. The bar soap was too harsh.
2. Put some lounge chairs and little coffee tables in the indoor pool area so that people can lay their towels out. Move some of the other chair and table sets to the outside patio area.
Overall for the price I paid and the location, I would say I got a great value.

Ive stayed at the location 5 times in the last 2 years for business. Looks like they've upgraded their tv's to larger screens and their manager's reception keeps getting better and better with food and snack items. They are always doing something new here which is the reason i keep coming back. Great hotel and staff.

Even though the person at the front desk gave us an upgrade to a suite, it didn't help our stay. Underneath each mattress pad was an annoyingly squeaky, loud plastic sheet of fabric. I don't know if the pads were separated or what, but it made for a very loud, restless evening of sleep. Additionally, the walls up there were very thin. We heard every door open and close, every laugh, giggle, etc., from nearby rooms. But what made us the most uncomfortable was that the floor we were on was not entirely smoke free. While waiting for the elevator, we had to endure the smoke from a few nearby rooms. Not easy for our son with asthma. Going to and from the room was just very unpleasant. And breakfast was not all put at opening which left half the family without their choice of food. What was there was good, however.

The staff here is not well trained. I was not offered the complimentary reward member snack nor the 300 points if I didn't want snack. Also cable on tv was jacked up. I had to get receptionist to assist with getting tv to work? Shouldn't maids check tv when room is cleaned? Again, I'm here today as I write this, same hotel and same room. Tv jacked up again. Same receptionist had to come fix it. I usually enjoy my stay at holiday inn. This particular hotel I have had these issues. Long day and last thing I want is to have to get dressed, call someone to fix tv.

This is a great place to stay in Kilgore. I've stayed several times. This was the first time I had a room that was on the second floor, overlooking the lobby area. The first night, at about 12:30 a.m., I was awakened by a VERY LOUD woman talking, it sounded right outside my door. She went on and on. When I got up, it was a woman downstairs at the front desk, she appeared to be drunk, having a conversation with the person at the front desk. The sound echoed straight up to my room.
It was hard to go back to sleep after that. I did complain to the front desk the next morning, but he was not the person on duty overnight.
I must add that when I requested an emailed receipt, the reply was immediate. Thank you!
