Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Crummy experience Property reminds me of a maze; difficult to find my room. Returned to hotel about 3-4a after being on service calls to find no empty parking spaces. ZILCH. Went to front desk to inquire and was told that where I had pulled up by the planter was not acceptable. Huh? After again asking where was I supposed to park, the desk clerk told me I could park down the street between the bar and gas station. SAY WHAT??? I drive a company vehicle full of expensive equipment and tools. Parking off-site in an unlit, unsecured location was not an option. Not once did the desk attendant apologize or suggest a viable solution; rude and unprofessional. So I checked out then and there. March 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bed good The sleeper couch was the worst thing I have ever sat on. the cushion was only like three inches thick, just horrible to sit and watch TV. Then there was the cheap toilet seat. As we all know when we sit on the toilet, for what seems like a long time, was horrible uncomfortable. The sitting part was so small a child could fall in. really need to look at this cheap program. I did like that the desk/ Table was on wheels and could be moved where I wanted it. I liked the shower. The bed was great and all the pillows were nice. Over all I would recommend the Hotel. March 19, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Broke Bed We are a family of four and needed 2 doubles for our stay. The bed next to the window tilted hard left and was not comfortable. I sent one kid to the couch because the broke bed could only sleep one comfortably. Other than that are stay was good. I did not say anything because we where so busy in and out and did not want change rooms, it was a very quite room. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer service especially the housekeeping and breakfast room staff! We have stayed at this location before and are always pleased with the room and the exceptional customer service. The only reason I rate the room cleanliness as a con is because there is no way that these rooms can be thoroughly cleaned in the time allowed. I rate this even in higher priced hotels I stay at. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service and staff I have been staying at this property for quite some time for my business travels. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. I recently had a business emergency and the the gentlemen at the front desk was able to assist me. I apologize because I didn't ask his name, but he works in the morning and wears glasses. He has always greeted me with a smile and this time he was extremely helpful. For some what I requested may seem like a small task. For me, his assistance was very helpful. I definitely recommend this property whenever you are staying in the area. It's right off the freeway, clean, comfortable and a great staff. February 2, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good service Staff is friendly. Rooms are OK. rooms could use detailed cleaning. Bathrooms could use fresh paint. January 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and Clean Hotel We stayed at this location while visiting Portland for shopping. Close to the highway, clean rooms and great place to stay with the family. Breakfast was acceptable. 15 min from downtown and 20 to the Woodburn Mall. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thank you Thank you for a clean room and nice service. I will stay with you again when I am in the area. January 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Valley Invite We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this holiday inn. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, Decor up to date, I would guess recently built. Staff was friendly, knowledgable and very accommodating. December 13, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best experience with a Holiday Inn Express Stayed 2 nights and the first morning went to take a shower and the water was barely warm enough to stay in. My wife had a cold shower. We told the front desk and they said they would fix it or get us another room. We woke up the next morning and went to turn the shower on and it was barely warm enough for one shower again. My wife chose not to shower because it was too cold. Also to our surprise some started to enter the room while we were both getting ready. Good thing we had the dead bolt on. He was a maintenance tech coming in because the room was labeled out of order. Went to the front desk to mention this again and they said they didn't have a chance to fix it and the night person was supposed to let us know to change rooms. Obviously this never never happened since the water wasn't fixed and someone tried to come in our room. Some other smaller items we noticed was our sink didn't drain very well and the floors were really messy getting out of the elevator on floor 4. This stayed that way for the 3 days we were there. I'm usually very satisfied with this chain and will stay at them in the future but not this hotel. December 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All This and Cookies Too! Excellent hotel with interesting floor plan. The warm cookies and great selection of teas were greatly appreciated on a cold, damp night. November 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent business stay I've stayed here three or four (more, maybe?) times this year. The staff is courteous, breakfast is decent, hotel is clean, internet is very reliable (which is why I tried this location the first time), and it's easy to get to from I-5. The lower level rooms in the wing have a nice sofa with coffee table and ample room space. This past stay I didn't check in until after 8pm so it was in the main tower with a smaller chair instead of the sofa that I'm sure is substituted so not to block the shared doorway. Many of the the power cords lead to an outlet on the other room under the shared suite doorway. Normally outlets aren't an issue since I carry my own USB/Power plug-in but I forgot it this time so had to unplug a lamp if I wanted to use my laptop while watching TV and plug my phone in at the desk. This is probably the case with most hotels but I just noticed it this time. There is a bar that shares the parking lot. However, I've never heard any noise from it even when my room was on that side of the building. As a business traveler I appreciate that it meets expectations when staying at a Holiday Inn Express - which means it's clean, quiet, safe, and comfortable. November 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Bed The New Holiday Inn's have great beds. This was one of them. October 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room for the value in Portland Enjoyed our stay in Portland (medical trip to OHSU). Easy access to the freeway and Burgerville next door with Vegie burger was great. October 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay and good value The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful upon check-in and check-out. Overall the service was great and the room, comfortable. Surprisingly we stayed right next to the elevator and didn't hear it at all. There is a train that invariably would pass right when we were about to close our eyes, and once in the morning, but at least it wasn't constant. Although sensitive to noises, we would stay again and recommend this hotel. October 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel Stayed in several hotels during my recent vacation and this was the best in all around services from check-in to check-out. Room was clean and the beds were fantastic. Would like to have that bed for my own. Hotel was at an interstate exit, but you would never know it since it was so quiet. October 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great as Usual Nice HIE facility and location. This was the first time we were in the South Building and have to say we prefer the other. However, our stay was good and the young woman at the front desk on the morning we checked out was exceptionally nice. October 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay My ability to relax as average has no bearing on Holiday Inn. I was there with my kids but the pool was excellent and kept them occupied for an hour or so. Food was good, room was spacious, staff was very helpful and friendly. It was also right on an I-5 exit which was very nice for travel. I will definitely stay there again. October 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful place to stay for one or a group I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Lake Oswego. It's actually just off the 5 freeway and is incredible close to everything and easy to locate. I really enjoyed the very comfortable bed, choices of soft or firm pillows, and very upscale bathroom. The remote on the TV was a little challenging. The front desk staff was excellent and helped us find great restaurants and a market so we could buy groceries. Each room has a microwave and good sized fridge. This is great! My daughter is at school nearby and we would definitely stay here again when we visit her. And I really like that I get points in the Rewards Club so that I will someday earn a free night. October 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by An Average Mid-Priced Hotel We stayed here for one night and it was fine. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable. The breakfast was OK...a good selection, sausage, hard boiled eggs, bread, cereal, sausage and gravy, rolls, etc. it was pre-made and heated in a microwave. The coffee was good. It was nice for a quick meal before getting back on the road. The location has good freeway access, both north and southbound. The entrance to the hotel is a little hard to find.....between Burgerville and a gas station. I would probably stay here again if I were in the area. October 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by wont stay again FIRST OFF WE WERNT OFFERED OUR GIFT BAG OF GOODIES OR WATER AT CHECK IN , THE FRONT DEST GUY COMPLAINED ABOUT HIS JOB WHILE CHECKING IN ....AND TO TOP OFF THE NIGHT TRAINS WENT BY BLOWING HORN MOST OF NIGHT . ROOM AND BED WAS VERY COMFY THOUGH October 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel This is a very nice hotel in a good location. The physical layout is a little strange in that you need to find out exactly which stairway goes to where you want since not all of them access all the floors. Otherwise, you are always waiting for an elevator. The staff is not particularly helpful. The person on the desk when we checked in was new on the job and not at all familiar with the local area. Another staff member was actually negative help - when asked a question he was not only evasive, didn't answer the question and responded with another question. For example, one morning the breakfast service staff member apparently called in sick and there was no one apparently working in the kitchen. When we asked the clerk if there was anyone working there (things such as utensils, plates, etc. needed to be replenished), his answer was "Why? Do you need something?" Of course I needed something or I wouldn't have asked in the first place. Every other encounter with this individual was similar. Otherwise the stay was fine. September 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Customer Service @ Breakfast by Felicia The hotel is next to I-5 and it has easy access on and off I-5. If you get a room facing the highway, it is noisy. I had requested a QUIET room prior to check-in and they had assign a room next to the elevator. Luckily, the staff was able to relocate me to a different room but it was facing I-5. The WiFi in the room was the WORST I encountered during my entire vacation. The WiFi signal was weak and at times I could not even connect to the internet! As you can imagine, it was frustrating trying to retrieve email etc. Felicia working the Breakfast area was so pleasant and friendly! She is a great employee that should be recognized for her hard work and great outlook in taking care of all the guest's breakfast needs while staying at the HI Express. There were problems with the Pancake machine and she took care of it every time the machine acted up. She apologized for the inconvenience each time even though it was not her fault. It is time for the HI Express to invest in a new pancake machine! Paper plates do not work with the hot pancakes. The pancakes stick to the paper plate and made it difficult to eat. August 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Holiday Inn Express Ever! What a great hotel - clean rooms, close to the freeway with good restaurants nearby. Best of all you get your own Directv receiver in the room, just like being at home! August 21, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Water pressure & breakfast Our holiday inn express experience was not favorable. Our shower had extremely low water pressure that made it difficult to rinse out hair shampoo. The 2nd day we were there, a plumber was hired in our section to repair some things. Even after the plumber, there was no change in water pressure. A couple of time when I went down for breakfast around 6:30/7:00am I had to ask for hot water for tea. It got old doing this. Staff was courteous and overall the room suite was nice. August 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Odd Layout Upon my arrival at the hotel, I missed the turn into the parking lot. There isn't a good drive or entrance and in order to get to the hotel you have to enter like you are going to Burgerville or Chevron, which is right at a lighted intersection immediately off the highway. Getting into the turn lane for this entrance is awkward. The actual hotel is somewhat of an odd layout for rooms. Once you get the hang of it, it isn't too bad, but it's very odd. Lots of turns, weird hallways, stairwells. You get a little bit lost. There's also only one elevator by the lobby and it's very small. Breakfast wasn't too bad, but the sitting area is too small for peak times. We were traveling for a soccer tournament and there just wasn't enough space for people to sit and eat. If there was a dozen or more extra chairs, it might have worked. As it was, a lot of people were standing at tables because there were tables and no chairs. Hotel staff needs a little improvement in the ease of check in/customer service. There was often only one person behind the desk and a line of people needing assistance. I went to the lobby for extra towels and was 3rd in line. The front desk clerk took a call from his manager and left all of us waiting for quite a long time before one person in line suggested he call his boss back so he could take care of customers. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Will not book again... What did not go wrong: 1) When booking I specifically requested a suite as I was traveling with a wife and two children. When we got there we were given a standard room (with a jet tub that took up much real estate in the room..). The place was full so they had to bring in a folding bed. The room had to be rearranged with very little room left to walk. One of my children had to sleep on the love seat. When we moved the love seat, there was enough dropped snack food stuff to feed a 3rd world country under there. 2) The address to the place through google was not correct and took us to a different part of town. 3) There is no access to the hotel but through a gas station parking lot close to an intersection which makes turning left into the place almost impossible. The cost versus the higher end hotels with much better accommodations was not that different. August 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad for a first time experience Overall, a nice place to stay but the layout of the hotel looks like it was put together in stages. I got lost finding my room for the first time because there are hallways going different directions. The room was very nice and it had all the amenities that I want. Breakfast was crazy with too many people and not nearly enough room to take care of the crowd. I would stay here again but it is not anywhere close to being my favorite HIE. August 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spacious room and comfortable Clean and welcoming room that was very spacious and easily accomodated two teenagers each in their own queen size bed as well as a separate room for the parents within that room. Have never seen such a great set up! Nobody ended up on an uncomfortable roll away bed. It was great. We had a nice relaxing and quiet evening and could not hear any outside noise even though we slept with the window open. Nice size fridge and microwave along with a coffee maker in the room but our 16 year old son loves the pancake making machine at the buffet breakfast! Great breakfast options. We would definitely stay here in the future. Easy in and out from the I-5 and close to Lake Oswego or downtown Portland. VERY safe area. August 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff We have stayed at this property and have been treated well by the front desk. Very helpful and courteous. August 5, 2013
