Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WOW! As a regular user of UK Holiday Inn hotels due to business, it's always nice to use them for pleasure. And what a pleasure it was! The Hotel is in the best location I have ever stayed at, literally on clearwater beach, with a deck overlooking the sea/bay that you can either sunbathe on by the pool or eat at from the restaurant. On arrival (and having used reward points to book) we were upgraded to a suite which was amazing! The food in the hotel was fantastic and we honestly wished we had booked a week instead of 2 nights! Altogether a really excellent stay, thank you very much! August 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by August 2013 This hotel is right on the gulf but with no beach area. We were aware of this prior to our trip though. We had a one bedroom suite which had 2 rooms...one with 2 double beds and the other with a small kitchen area, pull out couch and table and chairs. Perfect for a small family although the pull out couch was anything but comfortable and looked like it was in need of replacement. There were days where we had no linen service all day and they would come at 5pm while we were getting ready for dinner. Told them to come back and they never did. Staff as a whole was not very friendly at all. You could walk by them 100 times in the lobby or the halls and you never got a hello out of anybody that worked there. Wake up call didnt work and didnt find out that it doesnt until the next morning when the front desk told me if I wanted it I had to call them directly the night before and not use the service available on the phone. Now onto the positive...the pool was great, kept clean and they had a kiddie pool for the younger kids as well. Was never overcrowded and we never had a problem getting a lounge chair. Sunsets from this hotel were beautiful! It is a short walk to stores and Clearwater's public beach which was clean and beautiful! We ate many meals at Jimmy's and the food and drinks were always great. Service there was great as well. Although the hotel was about a mile walk to Pier 60 for $6 you can get a shuttle for your whole family and the shuttle drivers have personality. All in all this was our first trip to the gulf side of Florida and we loved Clearwater Beach. August 19, 2013

We went to Shephard's seafood restaurant and tiki bar which are located next door to the property. Awesome food. The breakfast was awesome as we sat out overlooking the water. Staff was very friendly and helpful...especially when we arrived at 1 am! Restaurant was nice for breakfast out by the water. Lots of birds, so hope you like them! Only mistake we made was thinking that this hotel was literally on the beach. It is on the seawall, so you have to walk down the street to get to the beach. August 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, view and comfort... some of the staff however could be better My friend and I spent just under a week at this lovely property as a girls getaway. The locations is awesome, the room was fantastic, the pool was amazing, and the views were incredible. The front desk was amazing and accommodating. Housekeeping was superb!! They even left a station playing of waves crashing on the shore for us! Like many hotels the prices in the restaurants were quite more then if you ate off property. Drinks were expensive, should of realized that when the prices weren't listed.The coffee shop was way over priced and after going across the road to get breakfast sandwiches for half the price when we went into the coffee shop to pay a ridiculous amount for a drink the lady saw our other purchases (which we were taking to our room) and gave us a really hard time about it. It got to the point where we were actually offended and decided that would be the last purchase we had from there. I also experienced two younger girls going into the gift shop right as the lady was closing and the lady very rudely told them it was closed and that it was too late and to come back tomorrow. The girls said they weren't able to come back tomorrow and looked crushed. But it didn't matter to the employee as she had already walked away from them. If it was candy they were after they could of at least been directed to the candy machine down the hall. Hotel awesome! After working for a Holiday Inn for several years though I am a little shocked at some of the staff attitudes and know it wouldn't fly at the hotel I worked at. Waited In Line For 30 Minutes To Check In, Which Is Fine, Until Getting To The Counter And Not Getting Even So Much As A Greeting From The Night Manager, Just A Stare Waiting For Us To Tell Him What We Needed. $12/Day Parking (Was Charged Without Warning). Pool Was Nice. Security Guard Around Pool, Not So Nice, Threw Away Our Two Beverages, Sitting Next To Our Belongings,, That We Just Purchased From The Pool Ba Not Even 5 Minutes Prior. He Was Rude And Laughed At Us When We Approached Him About The Incident. Otherwise, Nice Room With Good View. Bands At Jimmys Were Really Good Each Night. August 10, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 My 2nd time at this property and no where near as good as 1st. Things got off to a bad start, upon arrival as we waited an hour for them to get our reservation, they couldn't find us until an hour later.. After several days of being home I checked my credit card statement and I am charged twice for the room. I am currently in dispute with the hotel to get the 2nd charge removed. they blame the reservation company and the reservation company blames the hotel. I spoke with Chris the front desk manager and he was not very concerned and blamed the reservation desk. I also informed him that the short haired Spanish towel clerk at poolside said it was a $5 charge for towels, was he joking, I just stared at him and he gave the towels. The clerk gave us 2 ihg cards for drinks and he told us it was for our total party, but when I used them at the pool bar it was for just one drink and only a discount not a free drink as we were told at front desk. Chris the manager instead of listening about the info we were given about the drink card, he just stated that the card says for 1 drink and that everyone at front desk knows the procedures. So is he saying I'm not telling the truth. I say he should look into this and give better training to the staff. We paid for a suite with a pullout couch and it needs to be replaced very uncomfortable. The overall experience with this stay is poor. August 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clearwater Beach Was able to check in early which was a nice surprise. The room was clean and comfortable. Disappointed with small bathroom though. Wonderful view of the Gulf. Pool area was nice but 2 days out of the 4 day stay by there were no towels. Many towels left sitting around by thoughtless guests though. Restaurant food was good but service was lacking....we kept getting passed off to another server. August 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing Family Time My extended family and I met at this hotel for some family time. The suites were wonderful because they gave our group a common area to relax. The sunsets were amazing. The restaurant was great - kids eat free. And the kids loved playing in the water. It was like having a private ocean since the crowds hang out down by pier 60. We enjoyed not having to share our water space with many other people. The kids also enjoyed Surf Style down the street. August 7, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location - great staff My wife and I just completed our 2nd stay in CWB and are returning at Christmas. Key reasons are the great gulf side location and private beach area adjacent to the hotel. Other CWB hotels have more beach area than the Holiday Inn, but we are more "pool side" people. The pool is right on the water and no other large hotel has a pool right on the water. Also, the restaurant is right on the water. Not to mention the beautiful sunsets right at your dinner table or from your pool deck chair. Best of all, is the great staff. In over 30 years of travel, I have spent nearly 3300 nights in hotels and I know a great staff when I see it. From the front desk, to housekeeping to the pool staff this team is top drawer. We look forward to returning so to this treasure by the gulf. August 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Why bother with traveling abroad Clear Water has everything Mmy faily and I had to mix business with pleasure and fortunately chose the Holiday Inn at Clearwater. My wife and I have traveled to the Carribean recently and wish we would have chosen to stay on the Gulf shores of Florida...the food was excellent and reasonably priced....our kids ate free...talk about a huge savings. There were plenty of family activities and hot spots for my wife and I to get away. The staff at the front desk went incredibly out of their way to ensure our every need was taken care off. The rooms were much larger than you would expect for the reasonable cost. Thanks for the great memories. August 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Experience I was not charged the same rate that I was told. It was a pay upfront deal, and no one would help with the discrepancy.. The hotel manager was supposed to call me and after a few days gave up on him calling back! The fire alarm went off three times in one night. Once the whole hotel emptied at 3:00 am.. No credits were offered, and staff didn't even apologize for the inconvenience! Pool water was dirty, greasy. The Deluxe Queen suite (with full kitchen) did not have dish towels, sharp knifes, cutting board, etc. There were four plates, forks, spoons, knifes, and mugs. Three pots to cook in. Guess it was assumed one would bring most of their kitchen with them! We stayed three nights, we had to ask housekeeping to clean our room. They were not going to come in and clean up, re-using the bath towels was a green option. August 3, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, large, comfy, clean rooms This hotel is located on the beach, as stated, but the nearest beach access is about a 5 min. walk! The rooms are really nice, well maintained and mostly quiet. The wireless access is spotty at best, so don't count on it being available at all times in the rooms. The hotel asks you to save water by reusing towels...a great idea if they would provide hooks to hang towels on! One of the two elevators was out of order on the day we left, so there were long waits. My biggest objection is paying for parking, especially as long standing reward club members. Next time we visit Clearwater beach we'll try to find a nice place with closer beach access. July 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 45th Wedding Anniversary We were going to stay in this hotel one night for our 45th wedding anniversary and loved it so much we stayed three nights. It was wonderful. We watched dolphin and manatee play from our balcony, and the sunsets from there were stunning. And if you go, be sure to visit Lou's Spot and Spa in the hotel. I had the best haircut I have ever had and a great pedicure. The hotel is in a perfect location and within walking distance to many places and has everything you could want or need. We had the best Anniversary we have ever had. Good food, good cocktails, good entertainment and great fun at Jimmy's Fish House restaurant in the hotel. Sorry but pictures wouldn't upload???? Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not real happy we went to Clearwater Beach the 2nd week in July. The first day we were there the power went out of the hotel. In no time the room was very uncomfortable and just plan hot. Just outside the building construction was taking place. It was very loud all day. The last night that we were there went we got in from the beach we had 1 towel (no washclothes) and 4 people. Not to mention I was told that the hotel was on the beach. It is on the water, but there is not a beach. You have to walk down the street to a beach which was nasty. It had litter and debris everywhere. Over all I was no please with the hotel or the location. Also I had bought the early bird special and when I looked at my reciept I was over charged. July 18, 2013

Front Desk, Wait Staff, Bar Staff.. warm and Welcoming. Special thanks to Kathy , in the coffee shop... such a sweet heart! The pool and outdoor restaurant area are facing the channel out to the Gulf and it makes you feel like you are on a cruise! Just a short walk to the beautiful Clearwater Beach. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JA67 When we got to check in there were no rooms connecting. We booked way in advance for connecting rooms . One room was ready the other was not. When we went to check in the second room they gave it away. Now I lost my suite status, had to change buildings ended up with two standard rooms over looking a parking lot. The second day the door handle fell off and the third day the electric went out for more than 30 min.Over all I would not recommend this hotel. July 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good place at a fair price! Stayed here for 3 days with my 5 year old and the location was pretty good and close to teh beach for a decent price. The rooms were ok but I did not like the lack of a refrigerator and microwave in them. If you go for long periods of time and you have an infant/toddler that you need to heat up milk for, then try to talk to the front desk about a room that includes a microwave. The restaurant food was ok but the first night the waitress charged me for my daughter's meal and kids below 12 are suppose to eat free, so pay attention to the bill. I also did not get recognition for being a priority club member but this was not a deal braker for me. Overall it was a good experience. July 16, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed mini Vacation Upon arrival discovered there is no beach at the hotel like there was 8 years ago when this Holiday Inn was a few doors down towards the bridge. The photo on the website is deceptive and the water view you see is a view from a sea wall with large rocks below that you can't swim on. We then went to our suite which was nice but neither of the 2 air conditioners worked and there was a big, noisy squirrel cage blower fan sitting in the middle of the room running because the carpet was wet along the whole wall and window area. I had the wife and kids go to the pool and I went to the room to wait on maintenance to come and fix the air and remove the fan which they promptly did. The next afternoon the rain came and we found out why the carpet was wet. The window leaked so bad rainwater was pouring in everywhere and I had to put a trash can in the window to catch water and towel mop all around it. I tried to call the front desk for 15 minutes in the mid afternoon to report the flood and couldn't get an answer, I finally called a guest service number and got an answering machine and left a message of concern about the flooded room. Over the next 2 days we got no help or response about the leak, not even a mop or extra towels to dry up the sill or floor. Now our second night in we are awakened at 2:20 AM by a blasting alarm and siren over the door telling us there is an emergency and we must evacuate the building by stairs only and not the elevator. Between 2:20 -3:00 AM we, our kid and hundreds of mad people are standing in the parking lot while the Fire Department checks the building. They finally tell us to go back to bed and the Fire Trucks drive away only to return 20 minutes later when we are again evacuated with full sirens and alarms going off full tilt boogie. We are all back in the parking lot crawling into our cars to get some sleep and are told we can go back in and go to bed because there is an apparent short in the fire alarm system and it is not on fire. We finally got back to sleep at 4AM only to be blasted by the fire alarm siren screaming at us again at 4:26 AM. It was immediately disabled after a few minutes and a sign put on the front door of the Hotel saying the fire alarm system is not in working order anymore during your stay(Thank God!) Other than some noisy drunks in the halls at 1AM the next night' the rest of the stay was alright. The restaurant was adequate and there were a few good servers like Amy for breakfast and a young guy we had at dinner but sorry didn't catch his name. Don't leave any food out in your room. There was 1 little roach that came out from behind the upper cabinet over the microwave that tried to get my donuts but we had fun on the Sea Screamer boat ride and Parasailing as well as the beach down at the boardwalk. We are a Priority Club/IHG Rewards Club Member and have been for the last 12+ years. This was not the best experience we have had at a Holiday Inn and for the upcharge due to the holiday weekend we expected better. July 13, 2013
