Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, comfortable and quiet room Hotel very well positioned for Croydon Town Centre. Good complementary breakfast. Comfortable bed. Only slight problem; could not make room air conditioning work properly as unable to get temperature quite warm enough and selected temperature on control unit kept defaulting from selected value to an indicated 21 degrees. Would certainly use this hotel again if in the area. November 25, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Expected better I booked at this hotel as it is close to where a had to attend a crucially important appointment the following day. I booked a wake-up call which I never got. I enquired about this when checking out and was rewarded with raised shoulders, no eye contact and "I wasn't here then". The reception desk was manned by only one trainee member of staff to deal with the morning check-out rush. I'd looked forward to my break and was disappointed. I had frequent guest VIP status in my country of origin and until now had always had sterling service from all the Holiday Inns that I have stayed at. Would I stay here again? From the attitude of the staff member, I don't think they really care if I do or not. November 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good expreience Have stayed before and will Return. Took longer time than normal to check in - only one person at counter doing both bar and reception. Never cease to question the quality of sausages and scrambled egg at breakfast. Why not spend an extra 20 p and get something decent. Stayed in the Express at Bath later this week, and they had actually managed to make the eggs taste like eggs - evem though I think they use the same "powder". Otherwise everything was fine, Nice and cleam room, as I expect in the Expresses - it's why I like to stay there - if only you could improve the breakfast! November 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Abysmal Service and Poor Breakfast On arrival was presented with 3 different check-in cards all plainly marked with somebody else's name. It took over 10 minutes to get the correct pre-printed card for signing. Very unusual as priority club members we have our card and key ready to go on arrival. Much drama about checking payment cards, even though payment was in advance, never had that before as a priority club member. We had a 2 night stay, but the reservation system believed we had a one night stay followed by another night as two different people! The reception staff were very unhelpful and suggested we checked out and back in again the next morning, and maybe have to change rooms as well just for maximum inconvenience for us and minimum inconvenience for them. Of the two key cards only one worked due to the front desk person not being trained in the room key coding systems. We did have to check in again the next day despite assurances that this was all sorted. Our key cards didn't work on the second day because the system had been told we had checked out that morning. Seems the re-check-in was a waste of our time. Breakfast was very poor. Only dried out sausages, powered egg goo and mushy beans on the first morning. Poor choice of 1 type of hard cheese and 2 types of bread on the second. Fruit might have been available, but it had run out and not been re-stocked. Reconstituted orange juice only dispensed 15ml per press so a very long queue formed. Was asked on departure if we had enjoyed our stay. There was zero evidence that any staff member had noted any issues and there was obviously no communication between shifts. If you encounter an issue be prepared to repeat yourself often to numerous different staff members. One of the lifts wasn't working so everybody spent over 10 minutes waiting for the lift, and then having to wait again for a lift with few enough people to squeeze into it! November 12, 2013

Free wi-fi and breakfast were great. The beds were very uncomfortable. The sofa bed was changed during our stay and was a much needed improvement. The elevators were unpredictable and one was out of service for 1/2 of our 8 day stay. November 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable break away We have stayed here a couple of times now and always managed to get a car park space outside which is cheap and convenient. Booked room for two adults and a child but only had bedding for the double bed. Staff was ok to be asked for bedding but not impressed when we also asked for additional towels for the third person. However breakfast was lovely with pleasant, helpful staff on hand. November 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great service Booked as it was a good rate, have previously booked Hiex nearer London but was able to use East Croydon station which had regular service into London Victoria. is approx 20mins Was able to arrive early and put the suitcases in a room to enable us to visit London. Found the breakfast was well stocked and did not struggle to get seats - good value and quality. Especially wish to praise (Nicky)? - I hope I have her name right. She might be local to the area, made us feel very welcome and always asked if there was anything we needed. She went the extra mile - which made a difference to our stay so thanks Nicky.... Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Experience I was unfortunate to be booked into this hotel by my company This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are arrogant, the food disgusting, the breakfast basic, poor selection of beverages/alcohol, the space on the car park over stated, two cars if your lucky and they are taken up by staff. Parking in local Q park £50 for week. The only plus side is it is located in Croydon which does have some good restaurants November 2, 2013

The staff are lacking in any kind of customer service skills. The rooms are run down and in dire need of a good cleaning and renovation. There is no parking. October 25, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by confused staff The first room given, on th 8th floor was, when i entered, full of someone else's things, luckily they were not in. Back to reception. then, i was taken back up with a member of staff as if i was making it up. Back to reception. given another room, which was empty, but the whole process took 45 ninutes from first check in. Not really what you want whilst carrying 3 large bags and a laptop, when all you want is a shower and some food. Rubbish service. October 21, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bogus Extra Charges at End of Stay We stayed at this hotel for 3.5 weeks. At the end of our stay the hotel charged us for phone usage - the only problem was we never used the phone. Although the mistake was on their part, the staff were unwilling to recognize the mistake and made us pay - or threatened to take it off the registered card anyway if we refused. I had a meeting in London the next day but didnt fancy the prices in London so got a great deal here for less than half the price of any HI or Express in the city. Chose here as its <5 mins walk from east croydon station which itself is on the line between Gatwick Airport and Luton Airport going through St Pancras, City Thameslink etc in about 20 mins, trains are very regular so id recommend this hotel as a great location for getting into London at much lower cost. All was good in the hotel itself, except the staff at check in / out were really slow. Standard express rooms but comfortable enough beds, clean etc Hotel has enough shops / places to eat / fast food around it which also helps Id certainly stay here again October 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't let the weird front enterance in an alley way put u off! A NICE stay does await u! We've stayed there twice. We have friends in Croyden. It's just perfect for the traveller who doesn't need every frill in the world and doesn't feel the need to spend a fortune on a grand hotel in London. Wealthy and not so wealthy will find it to be clean, the staff are gracious, the breakfast buffet is excellent, and the alley way enterance, well, let's just say, it's different! Such is the way of old neighbourhoods anyway. Quite a few staff remembered us the 2nd time we came. We find that to be welcoming and professional. I found it a little strange that there are no trollies to push your belongings on. I like a small microwave, but there isn't one. That having been said, we managed very comfortably with everything provided! Guys, if ya need a nice haircut, right next door is a good barber - 10 pounds for an excellent cut and experience. Stay here and get an all day travel card for the trains into the heart of London, and save a bundle. Have a good stay! October 5, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good experience overall Stayed there 3 weeks during my training course in Croydon. Hotel is well located, staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast has almost everything you need, every morning the same though. The only complain I have is that my bathroom would smell like cigaret from time to time for no reason. Also 4 times my key-card stopped working randomly and I had to request new ones from the reception. October 2, 2013

Thank you very much for that. We appreciated complimentary breakfast and wifi. Location for budget travellers travelling between Gatwick Airport and London central is perfect, right in the middle of the way. The only problem I had was with the reservations. I made the reservation in advance but this was due to some reason cancelled without telling me! This was finally sorted out but if I didn´t make any effort I could easily arrive to the hotel finding out there´s no rooms booked for me. Otherwise everything was absolutely perfect. Unless you arrive very, very early you have no chance of finding a space (they cannot be reserved). It's a fair walk back from the nearest pay and display - not much fun in the rain or with your overnight bag. The rest of my stay was very good (as normal at HI). September 22, 2013

I had a pleasant stay right throughout the four nights at the hotel. The room was clean and well-presented. The bathroom was clean and the towels were of good quality - nice and fluffy... The breakfast service was good on all four mornings. It's good that complimentary internet access is included for IHG Rewards Club members. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and recommend that you consider it if you're planning to stay in the area. September 21, 2013

Other stations/tram stops within easy reach. Good check-in experience (Dani) and Plat status recognised with offer of a free drink or 100 pts. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent reception staff offering great support Arrived early evening with bikes and hotel staff very helpful in allowing temporary parking outside and taking bikes inside hotel for overnight storage in a vacant conference room. Reception staff were extremely efficient and arranged early morning taxi transfers and breakfast (outside of usual times) acting in a very professional manner. Car parking can be arranged at the local Q-Parks with vouchers from the hotel giving a slightly reduced rate. Overall, a very comfortable stay reflected by excellent staff. September 12, 2013
