Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and responsive staff My son and I came off a very rocky transatlantic flight and landed on the day England got the most snow it's had in decades. We made our way to the hotel in freezing temperatures and slush and hail. The hotel was crowded but we were able to get a hot breakfast and early check-in to our rooms. What a god-send the staff was to take care of us so quickly. The room and hotel always very clean. THe only downside was the poor selection of television channels. THey need to update their TV offerings. April 13, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, great location, really friendly staff This is your standard HIE but the staff are all excellent, helpful, friendly and nice. The location, just 5 minutes from the tube station ( and 8 minutes into the west end), is spot on. As a Priority club member we were recognised with free newspapers and free wifi which was very welcome. Our only negative comment is about breakfast, the food area is tiny, with nowhere to balance your tray, and gets very congested with just a few people. There is also a very minor issue that they have both the tv news as well as background music playing which is a bit much. I will certainly be returning to this hotel at the earliest opportunity March 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Booking/Small Room with uncomfortable Sofa Bed On Feb 1/13, I called the international line to book our 4 night stay and received email confirmation. On Mar 6./13, I noted that there was no transaction from my Visa account, I contacted the hotel by email advising them our arrival date and time and booking for 2 adults and 1 seventeen years old child for 1 double bed & 1 sofa bed. Then, we were notified by the hotel that they had problem with Visa transaction. I called the international booking agent and provided my Visa info again. I emailed your hotel staff and advised them to proceed with the transaction. I did not hear back from your staff. On Mar 10/13, I called Visa and was told that there was a transaction from your hotel. However, when we checked in on Mar 18/13, the front desk staff said the reservation was for 1 person. I showed him all the email correspondences, he then said, 'Ok." We were given a tiny room and the sofa bed was not made by 10 PM. We called the front desk and a staff came with a sheet and comforter to make the bed. The sofa bed was only a few inches from the floor, it was lumpy and old. Our daughter complained back ache after sleeping in it for 2 nights. The room was so small that the sofa bed pushed against the chair in front of the desk and no one can possibly sit in it. We were not able to relax in our room. Compare to the Hotel Inn Express Paris - Canal De La Villette where we stayed before and after our London trip, it was like Night and Day. Please improve your booking system, provide adequate space and replace your sofa bed. March 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Good Choice in an Excellent Location The short version: This hotel is a well-run, very clean, modern hotel with a number of excellent features in an excellent central London location with very competitive rates. We found the staff pleasant and helpful. This property is particularly suitable for travelers arriving in London by car or who might need a car while in the area. The negatives are primarily that the rooms are small and the furniture, while modern and of good quality, is relatively simple; shelves, cubby holes and limited open hanging space substitute for chests, drawers, and closets. For many the flaws will not be very significant; for those staying more than a night or two and who like to unpack fully, they may be more irksome. Now to flesh out with all the details, the long version:This hotel is a new purpose-built seven-story (two modern elevators) hotel up Finchly Road from Swiss Cottage. The area is lively with many restaurants and shops and excellent public transportation connections. The "O-2" center, a shopping and entertainment development that includes a large Sainsburys supermarket, a good bookshop (Waterstone's), a VUE cinema, several restaurants and fast-food spots, and a lively pub, is directly across the street. In bad weather (we had rain, sleet, snow, low temperatures and windy conditions during our early March stay) it was a pleasure to have it right across the street, after a day of business pursuits we were happy to go across the street for dinner a/o a drink. Major advantages for those with cars are that, while conveniently close-in, a few Underground stops to the West End, the location is outside of the London Congestion Pricing Zone. Parking, at BPS 20 per night (24 hours, in and out) is limited but reservable. (This rate is not high for central London, and most hotels in or near the congestion zone either have no parking available, charge much more, or will not reserve a space; I could not locate others that have in-and-out parking privileges.) Our room, 604, faced the back and was quiet, even with the window ajar. (We consider a window which opens a real plus when so many properties have sealed windows.) Our view was surprisingly pleasant; behind the hotel is a steep hill and on it is a densely planted terraced garden. We heard birds singing even during much of the unpleasant weather. We had one double bed which had a good mattress and bedding. There was a choice of firm or soft pillows, but we thought both inferior to the pillows in U.S. Holiday Inn Expresses. As mentioned above, it will be difficult to stow more than a couple of days of clothing on the limited shelf, cubby and hanging space, a minor nuisance for those staying longer periods. The room contained a desk and chair as well as an easy chair. The hotel does not have an available coin laundry, nor do they have service laundry or dry cleaning services, but there are a number of dry cleaners in both directions on, and a coin laundry a reasonable walk up, Finchly Road. Rates quoted include VAT and breakfast. Their "Fast Start" breakfast, similar to Holiday Inn Expresses in the U.S., includes scrambled eggs, and either sausage or bacon, beans, breads for toasting, rolls, muffins, croissants and breakfast pastries, a variety of plain and flavored yogurts, packaged cheese, a choice of juices, coffee and coffee beverages, teas and herbal teas. The buffet room is not large and at times became crowded, but the dining area generally had plenty of room; in eight mornings we only remember anyone having trouble finding a table once, briefly. Most of the time the liberal breakfast hours helped leave plenty of seating room. We thought the breakfast room staff was outstanding, keeping the buffet well-stocked from beginning to end of breakfast, clearing tables efficiently, being pleasant and helpful, and responding quickly to requests; we have not seen better at a hotel offering a similar buffet breakfast. The pleasant breakfast room becomes a lounge during the day and a bar, which also serves coffee beverages, evenings. As mentioned in the short version, the rooms are small, and we understand the size is the same whatever configuration of beds. Bathrooms have a clever feature we've seen in other British Holdiday Inn Expresses, in which the door to the bathroom swings in to double as a door to close off the toilet area, leaving the sink and stall shower separately available. Towels supplied were a bath and hand towel per guest; both were large and of good quality; wash cloths were not supplied, although disposable paper substitutes were. The plumbing was modern and worked well; the shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water, even on the top floor. Internet service is available wired and WiFi in guest rooms and Wifi in public areas, but, in common with many UK properties, is not free. Service is BPS 7.50 per day, although shorter periods are available; we used a rented 3-G modem so we did not try the hotel's system. The price, while we consider it expensive, is comparable to, or less than, many other London hotels. Two notes, AAA and Senior discounts were available and, as a Holiday Inn Express, stays qualify for Priority Club points. Returning to the bottom line: We will certainly strongly consider this property the next time we need stay in the area, especially if we need a car, although we consider it more appropriate for shorter stays. Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel and higher are probably quieter, though when the windows were closed we heard no outside noise and suspect it might not even be a problem in street-front rooms March 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay We were a bit apprehensive as we were due to stay for 11 nights. However we had no need to worry. Our stay was excellent. The tube station is just down the road, there is a shopping centre directly opposite the hotel with a cinema and bar, and a variety of shops. As the hotel is on the main road and our room was at the front, we did experience a bit of traffic noise, but we got used to it. The staff in the hotel were very efficient and our room was thoroughly cleaned every day. The only letdown was breakfast. There just wasn't enough choice. I know it is complimentary, but sausage one day and bacon the next with scrambled eggs and beans every day is a bit unimaginative! We would have preferred fried eggs some days, and perhaps mushrooms instead of beans? The drinks in the bar were reasonably priced and the hot chocolate was superb!! I must also mention the night porter, Teano, - he was so friendly and uncomplaining, an asset to the hotel. March 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nearly robbed on arrival but nice rooms Was followed into reception by a pick pocket who tried to steal a purse from one of the parties handbags. On being caught became very very abusive and aggressive and staff did not do much to help, but asked him to leave, which he did not do for some time. Requested 4 times for them to call police and nothing was done. Felt very uncomfortable in there for rest of stay. One member of staff even said they recognised the man being in the hotel before and so it seems apparant he has followed other people in there and still police were not called!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very welcoming We were at Swiss Cottage hotel for 4 nights last February in a group and we had a very positive experience. The rooms were spotless and comfortable and we had a lovely stay! Only the wifi was to be paid for. We also thank Ms Hasina for all her help with everything, always asking us if we needed any help. We found some of the sofa beds a bit uncomfortable and she promptly had some extra mattresses put in the beds. Thank you for all your help, we'll definitely come back. March 3, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleasant stay, excellent location! A very clean and comfortable hotel. I had a very pleasant stay here for 5 days, in early February with a group of colleagues. Location of this hotel is excellent. Only about a hundred yards walk to Finchley Road tube station and 4-5 stops to Central London. This was very important for us, because we had to travel to Westminister every day to attend meetings. There is a shopping mall right across the street and another bunch of shops and restaurants nearby, including a Waitrose and a Sainsbury’s supermarket. Our rooms were clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. Had tea and coffee making facility in the room. Breakfast, which was complimentary, was pretty basic but good and adequate with coffee, tea, toast, cereals, beans, scrambled eggs, sausages and pastries. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. February 21, 2013

Variety of restaurants near by. breakfast met requirements and expectations for the rate paid. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent! Best deal in a very good location! Let's face it: hotels in the heart of London are VERY expensive! So, Holiday Inn Express Swiss Cottage is a WONDERFUL choice because, even if not in the centre, it's just 100 meters aways from an underground station (Finchley Road), just ONE station from Baker Street (via Metropolitan line). Also, it's a little more steps (about 200m, I guess) from an Overground station (Finchley & Frognal). The hotel is very good, clean, the staff very friendly yet it's the kind of hotel that I generally have little to talk to the staff in a positive away), 'cause everything works as explained in the check-in. The breakfast is ok, but could be better. Nothing that can diminish the great experience of staying there... extras: there's a good yet small shopping centre 20m from the hotel (seriuosly, you just have to cross the road), with a fine Wetherspoon Pub!!! The rooms were small, but lighting and storage was well layed out. The double pull out bed was fine for our kids to sleep in. Staff was nice and breakfast was plentiful. The hotel is very well located close to a tube stations and bus stop ( to many destinations, even airpots). The hotel and rooms are in very good conditions, very clean , and everything quite new. As well as being in a great location, close to shops, restaurants and the tube station with easy access to Euston, Waterloo, and central London attractions, the staff were very friendly and efficient. We were also pleased with the choice at breakfast which came free with the room. Altogether we were very impressed and would definitely stay there again January 9, 2013

It is in a central location near a lovely area of London (Hampstead). My only complaint was the that the rate trebled from Friday night and Saturday night! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great mid way to stay in London Great hotel to avoid staying in the very centre of London and yet quite convenient and easy to get to there. We needed to be able to drive and yet be as near a possible. This is the right mid point between outside London and the very congested car-unfriendly centre. The only issue in general with holiday inns is that wifi access should not cost so much (or even should be free). Internet no longer is a luxury / optional service! Is should be treated as standard and even hotels that charge for access from the room have free access from reception. This hotel charges ridiculous rates! December 25, 2012
