Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great hotel Near to underground station, excellent starting point to visit central London. Friendly staff. Big supermarket in close area and great park beside the hotel. May 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The ideal solution to London visits I cannot imagine a better way to visit London than to use Holiday Inn at Wimbledon South. Across the road from Coliers Wood tube station and about 15 mins to almost anywhere in the centre the location is ideal. If you do not have a fortune to spend on central London hotels and especially if you want to come by car from far away the secure hotel car park makes this is a great location. There is a pleasant park for a stroll for some fresh air and even a major supermarket chain within a few minutes walk. What about the hotel then? Most Holiday Inns are quite sufficient in terms of facilities and here is no exception. The rooms are small but very clean and comfortable with everything you need from a great shower area (with efficient plumbing that works!) to good size toilet and hand basin. Very good beds (and I am fussy!) choice of pillow softness and even enough room for our two children when we are travelling with them. The outstanding factor at this particular hotel is the management and staff. Totally organised and very kind and helpful they became our friends in moments. The manager even spent time with me talking about how he wanted to make some aspects even better and was keen to listen to my opinions - not that there was much to improve! If you are not super rich this is a perfect location for a London Stay - forget the cliches about chain hotels, this one is personal and great value. May 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Immaculate room Very clean, looked like a brand new room.Quiet couldn't hear any other guests and once we had worked out how to turn off Air Con was silent , rare for London -good glazing! Seemed like a bit of a pit stop, lots of people travelling through so if you are looking for somewhere to stay for a night or two then perfect but wouldn't recommend if you want to really relax on a romantic date! Staff looked a bit hassled and but were friendly enough. Good buffet breakfast.Would stay again. May 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A terrible nights sleep The room was so noisy from traffic outside that we could not sleep. The windows are totally unacceptable and do not reduce the noise effectively. Also the beds have low grade mattress protectors on them made of something synthetic so you sweat all night. This type should only used on baby's cots etc when urine is a high risk. When we asked to move rooms in the middle of the night we were told that we could not as the computer was doing an update. It was through my insistence that the night staff used the master key and found us another room which was quieter. Breakfast was hopeless - no plates, no bread, no bacon, no sugar, uncleared tables. We were promised some compensation by the Duty Manager the next morning but nothing has materialized as yet. Premier Inn guarantee a good nights sleep - can you? Let's see how much of this appears without being edited... May 7, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor Breakfast Having stayed at this hotel before what I enjoy at breakfast is yoghurt and grapefruit the norm at most Holiday Inn Expresses. Coming down @ 0720 there were none.OK the hotel was very full but your manager would have known that, I suspect the grapefruit comes in tins therefore not too difficult to plan ahead and stock up. I did ask a member of staff, he informed me there was none left. Being on business I didn't have time to discuss it.The cereals area looked a complete mess, clearly you need more staff on duty when full , to keep the food area tidy. Due to business commitments in the area I have to stay again soon as it is very convenient for my destination, I hope to see a vast improvements and not have to get down at 0630 to get a yoghurt. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel, great location Well maintained Clean hotel, with pubs restaurants and takeaways nearby. Directly across from Colliers Wood tube station so easy access across London. April 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location The building and rooms are recently refurbished and are clean and comfortable, both in the room and foyer. As visiting Australians, the location is convenient to the London Tube and has a variety of food outlets in the surrounding area. Check in/out is well organized with consideration for Priority Club Members. Noise levels outside the hotel including the next door Pub is above average but the Hotel itself is very quiet and friendly. As we have stayed here before we knew the location, and the service was again of the same high level of comfort with wellcoming, friendly staff. This Hotel was a relaxing and comfortable stay at the end of a busy and enjoyable 3 week UK and France tour. April 17, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good location but terrible experience with breakfast & housekeeping! My family have been staying with several Holiday Inn Express Hotels in London in the past but this is our 1st experience with Hol Inn Exp Wimbeldon South. Location was great - less than a minute walk from Colliers Wood Tube Station, which is approx. 25 min away from London central via tube. Nearby, there is a large retail park with Sainsburys superstore as well as a good selection of restaurants too. Its location was the reason why we'd stayed with them. However, breakfast was a horror! 2 out of 3 days, we were served with over-cooked sausages which looked and tasted like 'plastic'! Sausages were unusually light in colour, all with badly wrinkled skin and many had its meat burst opened. It was as if the sausages were overly microwaved instead of cooked in the oven or over the stove. I had complained to the hotel reception - was told that the hotel manager would speak with us but she did not turn up. Eventually, we were told to write our experience in their customer feedback form at the end of our stay to help them improve and also for them to highlight the problem to the management. Apparently, there were other customers whom have already complained about the same problem too but surprisingly no action has been taken. The hotel seemed to blame the problem on the sausages supplier but we would like to add that we did not have problems like this with other Holiday Inn Expresses around London. Another very unpleasant experience with our stay was with its drainage in the shower at our room no. 220. It was badly clogged with hair till water had overflowed whenever we started to use the shower. This problem should have been picked up by the hotel's housekeeping instantly while cleaning the shower but unfortunately, the staff may have turned a blind eye on the problem. As we had checked in very late to the hotel and badly needed a shower, we ended up removing a huge ball of hair stucked inside the drain of the shower. Overall, our experience with the hotel was rather unpleasant and we would not recommend our friends to stay with the hotel until they solve the issues with the 'plastic' sausages and improve their housekeeping standards.
