Although the reason for my stay was nothing fun, because it was due to a disgraceful customer service performance from Delta airlines, the hotel lifted my spirits both at check in as well as check out the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even before they realized my membership level at priority rewards the staff was giving platinum service. Facilities were clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. although Queens for most people may not be the most likely place to stay when in the NYC area still this hotel is situated at a relatively short distance from both midtown Manhattan as well as JFK or LGA airports.

I work retail construction in midtown manhattan. We start early and finish early I can get to the job in fifteen minutes in the morning and back in the afternoon in twenty so much easier than staying in jersey

Very comfortable and clean hotel. Staff was great and was very quick to respond to our needs. Shuttle service is a plus. Close to public transportation. Would stay here again.

I will never stay at this hotel again as the entire experience from the phone call I received to the checkout was not the Holiday Inn I know. I am a platinum member and have been for several years and this hotel ranked the worst stay since I started traveling. The management are cowards as they sent a counter person to attempt to resolve the initial issue and I will not allow this person to resolve the issue as they are not responsible for the issue and should not be made to be subject to difficult situations. I talked with HQ about this hotel and they attempted to reach out to the hotel and encourage contact with me but they experienced the same response as I. I travel to NYC many times during the year but your hotel will not be revisited in the future. The tactic that I experienced is what many express as the "In Your Face New York Attitude."

the facility is in great shape and the rooms are quiet. I have stayed here numerous times in the past three years and each time the staff is professional and accommodating. What more could a business traveler ask for.

I've stayed at this Holiday Inn Express before, when I visit my daughter who lives in Queens. Comfortable rooms, fair price, has parking and breakfast is included. All pluses when you just want a place to spend the night.

My husband and I stayed here to be close to a house in Forest Hills. The hotel is literally across the street from the Long Island Expressway, which was a plus for us. Although the room itself was small, it was very clean. The area is more industrial than I thought it would be, but access to Manhattan and Long Island was what we really needed. The staff was more than accommodating - offering to pack us fruit for our long day. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely come back again when needed. Beautifully remodeled as well.

but WHY...were we checked out & checked back in when extended? I was told it was because NY law is that a person cannot be in the same room for more than 30 days..I .travel for my job and have spent MONTHS in a hotel...I've never heard of this...I suspect it is so the "extended stay" tax refund would not have to be done.
WHY - was there laundy soap & Fabric Softner sheets being sold in the vending machine, when the washer & dryer have been "out of service" for months? and NO refund given when the laundry soap was purchased?
100's of little cars "racing" behind hotel...I understand nothing can be done about it....but no one could sleep on Fri & Sat nights.
The Staff where VERY VERY nice.

Nice place to stay, but my experience with the shuttle that was supposed to depart at 8 am was pretty bad. We finally got on the road at 830---no apology for tardiness. And then it turns out the shuttle only brings you to the nearest subway stop, but does not bring you back. Finally, the hotel website should make it clear that the shuttle only runs from 8-5.
People at the front desk and in the breakfast area were great.

I stay at hotels a lot. And the staff at Holiday Inn Express are by far the best ever. I had the same experience in Vegas, this company knows how to hire. But Maspeth is real good and very freindly, Willing to do whatever to make your stay as close to being home as possible. The place is clean and comfortable.

Great little place to stay while working in the area. Parking is tight. Rooms are pretty small. They were able to get me a fridge at my request.
The laundry room was down the entire time I was there, five days.

Breakfast staff were awesome on both days...very attentive, lots of smiles and they cared about whether we needed anything :)
The night desk clerk(came on at midnight both nights) was awesome...personable, assisting us with travel plans into the city and just plain professional.
No parking on our arrival was bothersome. My car was swiped on the rear in the side because I had to park on the street.

Very good hotel.
This is a true Holiday Inn Express comparable to any HIE off any interstate exit in the USA. The rooms are not New York sized.
Free breakfast and free parking which normally cost at least $24 at the other hotels in Brooklyn and NYC.
Helpful and friendly staff.

Continental breakfast not so good and closing it while we were still there not very customer centric. They were literally taking the food away while we were trying to get it. Who closes a continental breakfast at 930am on a Saturday. Very Rude!!

I used to stay in Queens near airport. This is my new home away from home. Staff was great! Nicolette at the breakfast buffet was a ray of sunshine in the morning and Vanina at the front desk was very welcoming and professional. I would highly recommend this hotel !!!

Maspeth HI Express has limited parking - not enough for all customers, and tough to find street parking where you are comfortable leaving your car.
Larger problem was no hot water at 9:00 AM - haven't had cold showers since the service.

The staff was very good and they even upgraded me to a mini suite at no charge. All was going very well until I went to take a shower the following morning and the water was cold. The cold shower ruined my day and I did not feel like a was ready to take on the business meetings that I had scheduled. Besides the cold shower experience, everything else was very good.

We stayed here over the Christmas Holiday while visiting our daughter and her family in Queens. The facility has always been clean, well staffed, and comfortable - just like most Holiday Inn Expresses. Upon checking in I was told that they put us on the 5th floor due to my "Gold" Priority Club status. I anticipated maybe a larger room or a better view, but got neither. In fact in my business travels I probably stay at 25 + different Holiday Inn Expresses during the course of a year and the room I had here was definitely one of the smallest rooms I've ever had at an HIE. I saw no reason for them to announce that they had put me on that floor due to my PC status, as the room seemed very much like any other HIE room, except smaller.
I rated the variety of breakfast choices as just "average" because the pancake machine was not in use for 2 of the 3 mornings we were there. What's up with that?
Overall, it was a good experience and I would go back because of it's cleanliness, and convenience to where I needed to be.

It was just after Super Storm Sandy, and Hotel demands were high. AT the reception no one cares about the guest since there were many outside ready to pay more.The rooms are small, the TV works about 1 night of every 3, the internet es super slow, be ready to park on the road if you arrive after 8:30pm and please don't complain, the breakfast is great 100% every day, No coffee 24 hr like regular Holiday Inn Express, If you want a room with bathtub good luck. I am a priority club platinum member, I like holiday inn express a lot, but this hotel does not meet the standard. I will only return if I do not have a choice.

The Hotel was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the price was good for being in the city. It is a little off the beaten path but right next to the highway. Breakfast was lackluster, I've never had a bad experience with Holiday Inn Express breakfast but I stayed there for 4/5 days and the pancake machine never worked, the bananas were kind of old, but the biscuits were the fluffiest I've ever had!
There was also condoms in the vending machine, between the Doritos and the onion chips... which I found highly inappropriate. What if kids wanted snacks? Now parents have to explain the birds and the bees every time their kids want Doritos.

The Hotel is pointed in the middle between JFK and Downtown. You can take the Bus Q67 and change to the subway to go to NY-City (Manhattan etc.) in a good time. Recommended is to take a Taxi to the Airport and back. From Airport take the advise of a dispatcher to take a Taxi and from Hotel use the Service to call you a Taxi to the Airport. Both is serious.
To the Hotel: Service is good. Rooms are clean and you could have a good feeling in the Rooms. Breakfast is good.
But i think if there is anyone who want to find here a quiet aerea it is not the right place, because the highway and a Gasstation is near by. For a visit to New York the Hotel is well.
Please note: New York is living 24 hours a Day ;-)

I stayed 2 different weeks on business.
During the first week the room I was in had a TV that didn't have sound. When I called the desk they told me "Oh yeah, all you have to do is unplug it, and plug it back in". I did and that worked. What they DIDN'T tell me was that I had to do this EVERY time I turned the TV on! The TV had a problem - that they KNEW about - yet they didn't think it was necessary to replace it!
The second week I was there I had a room with a good TV, yet the room cleaners couldn't seem to replenish the supplies each night. One night it was a lack of fresh soap and shampoo, another it was not replenishing the coffee supplies.
The only real good thing was the complimentary breakfast - it was dependably excellent. The rooms were OK, and the staff was very friendly.

The inn was very clean and the beds comfortable. Maid did not provide coffee in room for our first day. Did so after that. When I make reservation I normally don't have to pay until I used the service. In this case I noticed that the room was charged to my credit card even though I had not used the facility. I called about it and they said if I pay early the cost was reduced. It would have been acceptable if I had known that up front and not having to call to find out why my card was charged. Other then that the stay was pleasant.

Excellent value and convenience if you are driving to NYC. Room smaller than typical H.I.E. but clean and comfortable. Likewise, breakfast room is small, so table sharing might be necessary. An above average H.I.E. with unheard-of free parking. AAA+++ for us.
