Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff, Poor Experience I was staying at this location from April 15, 2013 through May 10, 2013. I am a Platinum member and have been for around the past 6 years... so I give the IHG a fair amount of business. During this time, I met many very friendly and helpful staff members. The woman running the breakfast crew was great! She was pleasant... greeted myself and my coworker with a smile every morning and also tried her best to get breakfast up and running even before the posted hours (which was a great help since we had to be out the door prior to the normal hours starting). During this time, I was working 7 days/week for 12+ hour days. As you could imagine... being able to sleep is important for making it through that many hours for that many concurrent days. That being said, every weekend was a nightmare. The night staff had absolutely NO control over the unruly guests that came in every single weekend. They had large groups such as a softball team, and other groups with many children. Holiday Inn Express were conceived as a business friendly hotel to meet the needs of weary business travelers, but this location chose to continually rent out their rooms to loud, rude, groups that had no regard for other guests comfort. I was told by one staff member that the groups had to sign a noise waiver or they would be removed... after multiple phone calls every weekend complaining about kids running up and down the halls until WELL PAST midnight, this policy did not seem to be upheld. Additionally, there were many adults from the groups that seemed to think it would be a great idea to encourage the children to be loud... I had one group directly above my room breaking into song and dance at nearly 1am on a Sunday evening/Monday morning. Needless to say... I was effectively a zombie for my entire stay. I was not compensated in any way... in fact.. I was given bigger apologies from the breakfast staff than anyone else in the hotel. One person on nights tried to apologize, but did nothing to curb the noise. Again... why was the policy not upheld to remove the noisy guests? (My guess is the loss of money from kicking them out...) My only hope is that this branch realizes that they need to stay focused on their loyal customers and figure out a way to keep them happy. There's no real reason why I've continued to stay at their hotels... usually they're clean and I can get a good night's rest after a long day out of town working... and if I can get that elsewhere while I'm around Overland Park, KS... then I think next time I'll have to go somewhere else. For anyone at this location reading this.. please take second thought in signing contracts with these groups of primarily children. If you feel you really need that business... make sure you don't locate your platinum guests on the 2nd floor, directly above the swimming pool and in the middle of where you station all of the kids that run back and forth. You should place us up on the 4th floor where we won't hear people running around above us and perhaps all the way down in a far end of the hallway. And keep your large groups isolated down on the 1st and 2nd floor... places where they're only going to disturb their own groups. In addition to all of that non-sense.... my room had some cleanliness issues. It couldn't have been vacuumed very well, because there were a few items from a previous occupant still on the floor. (Probably still there right now). A small plastic ring to the left of the work-desk and a small peanut butter cup between the wall and the night stand.... both remained there for the entire 25 days of my stay. One last thing... I've stayed at this location a few times in the past couple of years. I've noticed that you've cheaped out on the welcome packages for platinum guests. Would it really kill you to still offer a cold water or other drink from the cooler upon check-in? May 16, 2013

The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and the environmental controls worked perfectly! I will definitely be staying here again! May 3, 2013

I hope you understand that the "face" of your business is the person who checks you in. If you have somebody with the attitude of reciting "what he is supposed to say" instead of just welcoming you, the rest is....the rest! April 23, 2013

Whomever pounded on my door and then tried to get in with a passkey was not appreciated. Once I wake up, especially in a situation like that, I cannot get back to sleep... Nice clean hotel! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful visit The hotel is brand new inside and out. The room was large with a very comfortable bed. The tv seemed a little small for such a large room, but we were not there to watch tv anyway. The room had a walk in shower rather than a tub/shower which I really liked. This may not be ideal for someone with kids (I am not sure if they also offer rooms with tubs). Our room was a single King sized bed so it was probably equipped for the executive. March 2, 2013

Informed desk manager and he informed that they had this problem since the property opened. Hotel manager gave me his business card and told me to contact him because of the inconvenience. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Climate control problems and no pancakes I usually always stay at Holiday Inn Express so I was surprised to not quite have my usual excellent experience. On check in the clerk tried to make sure I understood how the Climate control worked in the room, which I thought was odd. I found out that night when the temperature cycled from too hot to too cold throughout the night. Not horrible but irritating. Then I was a little disappointed at breakfast that the pancake machine was not up and running. It's a small thing, but I wanted a pancake. I will share they said the regular breakfast person was off that day. So it was an average stay vs. a great one. January 28, 2013

The hotel is new and staff seemed a bit inexperienced but very dedicated to be sure we had what we needed. Very comfortable room. Fantastic hotel, obviously clean and new. Staff was great and extremely helpful. You would never have known it was their second day by the service they provided. We will definitely stay at this location again if we are in the area. October 19, 2012
