Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by On holiday with grand children Aug1-2, 2014 We had a wonderful weekend at the Holiday Inn Express Portland, OR.. The rooms were perfect! Clean, quiet and comfortable. We played in the pool both days as well as the jaccuzi. The kids 11, 7 & 2 had a blast! The breakfast had lots to choose from, the food was good.. 1 day the warmer wasn't working well but there was enough to choose from so it didn't matter. The front desk help people were very nice as well!!! We would defiantly come back to this hotel! Thank you for everything!!! August 8, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not my best experience. .... As they say, first impressions are the most important thing. Well I must say I was less than pleased with the way I was greeted and treated when I checked in. As I approached the counter that was being ran by a lady named Mary-Ann, she was yelling in to the phone "HELLO, HELLO, I CAN'T HEAR YOU, ARE YOU TRYING TO CALL THE FRONT DESK?" After a minute or so of this she hung up and started the check in process. Upon doing so I explained that I was staying 2 nights and was going to need to check out a little later than noon. Her first response was that I needed to tell the front desk......I responded by asking her if I was at the front desk. She said yes, but I needed to tell someone else. I asked who and she said to tell someone on the morning shift make sure it was ok. I then told her that if she thought it was going to be a problem, then I should probably stay somewhere else. Her response was that she didn't know if it was going to, but I will still need to contact the desk in the morning. Then I asked If she could just put a note in the computer or something. Her response was no, there was no where she could put a note..... At this point I'm very irritated and she just hands me my key and asks my license plate number. Had I not driven 10 hours, I would have lost it and just gone somewhere else. I can assure you I will never stay there again. Why i would not recommend staying here, Expensive! Airplanes are very loud! Maryann is not good with customer service. August 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mostly great with these bumps. Our family enjoyed our stay at the hotel. First impression, wonderful. The check in staff member was very helpful and was able to get us into a suite for 2 of our 3 nights stay. She helped with info on where the best place to watch the fireworks show was (4th of July) and was very patient with our room change. Downside was when we confirmed our room was booked out by another guest the third night we were told they must have canceled and we could stay. That was not the case and we had to rush out of our suite and into a smaller room so that the staff could prepare it for the guest that was checking in. The breakfast was never stocked when we went in. It didn't matter what time in the morning we went. There was one attendant and she was very rude. I arrived at 9:30 with my kids. Breakfast ended at 10. The pancakes were gone, the cinnamon roles were gone, the "hot food" whatever it was was gone, one bagel, empty coffee. There were no seats and we were told we would be best off grabbing our food and taking it to our room. We waited hoping the food would be restocked while we waited for a seat. The seat opened and that wasn't the case. I asked if she would refill the pancakes and she stated it would take too long and they were closing soon. I asked about the cinnamon roles. She said she would put some out. She did, I went to get some for my kids and was scolded that they needed to heat first. I went to our seat and buttered the one bagel we grabbed. I look over and the rolls were gone. The other hungry guests that arrived after 9:30 snatched them up. No refill. My kids retreated to the room where we had snacks I stayed and opened a small yogurt and filled my cup with decaf coffee. I sat to eat my yogurt when the attendant said I quote "you guys can watch tv in your rooms, I am closed and need to clean" and then she turned off the tv. Myself and the other families that finally sat to eat what little food we could get were kicked off of our tables. That was enough to make the stay a sour. The only other bump was our second room that had to queen beds stayed very warm as the bed close to the air conditioning unit blocked the airflow, poor planning there. Everything else was nice. The rooms clean, the lobby and pool clean, the staff other then the breakfast were friendly. July 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Far from downtown but a good night's sleep This hotel is located far from downtown...just across the river from Washington state in fact. The traffic on I5 through Portland was heavy which made the commute a bit long when we wanted to go into Portland. The hotel is located near stores including Target which was useful to buy needed travel items and snacks. July 15, 2014
