Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Front Desk Service When my wife and I checked in we found our television was not working properly. The picture kept going black, the pixels went to "beam me up Scotty" Star Trek mode, freezing, etc. We brought it to the attention of the woman at the front desk. Her response was "Well, no one else is complaining." She was busy telling management the hotel was at 39% occupancy, so there were many rooms available. The television did not work properly during our stay. When checking out the gentleman at the front desk asked how our stay was. I told him of the television problem and the woman's response. He said it sounded as if the "box" was defective and, she should have moved us to another room. After spending time in Portland at the Expo, walking all day, I want to be able to rest and watch television. This was the most dismal stay at any hotel in any price bracket we've ever experienced. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean and very comfortable This hotel has much larger rooms than others at this price. Remember to close your window as it is in the flight path of the airport with it closed you won't be awakened by the noise. The only thing I would recommend to the management would be a shuttle over to the area where the restaurants are. If you stay here without a car it is quite a walk. October 26, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay As usual, HIE is great. Very clean rooms, good staff. Also, as usual, is the weak reviews of the food. The continental breakfast is low on choices, and they could keep it a bit cleaner in there. but, that has more to do with the parents that do not know how to prevent their little monsters from running amok... Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good but problems I stay at many Holiday Inns. Most are great with very little problems but this one was an exception. Beyond there control was a smoker that rented a NON SMOKOING room and smoked. Typical for smokers. they think all the rules are for everyone but them. Elevator broke after regular hours and of course I was on the top floor. Took several hours to get it fixed. Inconvenient but at least if was fixed next morning. Mgr. was nice enough to offer a price adjustment and a few reward points. Good PR on Holiday Inns part. I love Holiday Inns. Best of all the major brands in my opinion October 8, 2014
