Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another GREAT stay at Jantzen Beach We have stayed at this particular Holiday Inn Express on several occasions while a family member has been in the hospital. No matter what time of the evening/night we arrive, we are greeted with a smile and a warm hello. Bob has been there most evenings when we arrive. He is the best!! Our room is always clean and ready for us to collapse. We enjoy a little hot tub time before calling it a night. The hot breakfast gets off to a good start the next day. We have stayed here several times over the past few years. It has always been great. November 24, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent desk staff, but... tired hotel room Was disappointed with this Holiday Inn Express compared to others I have stayed in. Room (and hotel) appeared tired; bathroom floor was dirty and there was mold on the shower ceiling. I've found most HIE's to be pretty nice and standardized, but this one didn't meet my expectations. My friend and I were so pleased with everything that we will always consider booking a room at Holiday Inn Express during our future travels. Breakfast was like ordering from a restaurant. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Front Desk Service When my wife and I checked in we found our television was not working properly. The picture kept going black, the pixels went to "beam me up Scotty" Star Trek mode, freezing, etc. We brought it to the attention of the woman at the front desk. Her response was "Well, no one else is complaining." She was busy telling management the hotel was at 39% occupancy, so there were many rooms available. The television did not work properly during our stay. When checking out the gentleman at the front desk asked how our stay was. I told him of the television problem and the woman's response. He said it sounded as if the "box" was defective and, she should have moved us to another room. After spending time in Portland at the Expo, walking all day, I want to be able to rest and watch television. This was the most dismal stay at any hotel in any price bracket we've ever experienced. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean and very comfortable This hotel has much larger rooms than others at this price. Remember to close your window as it is in the flight path of the airport with it closed you won't be awakened by the noise. The only thing I would recommend to the management would be a shuttle over to the area where the restaurants are. If you stay here without a car it is quite a walk. October 26, 2014
