Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service Our stay was good. I thought the price per night was a little high, but it might be the area. The location is perfect, very close to many places if you have a car. Room was a little snug, hard to sit at desk while others try to move around room. Bathroom was a little tight as well, but nice decor. i did not realize the hotel had exterior entrances. I do wish the breakfast was a little longer as we usually sleep in a little bit on weekend getaways and breakfast only went until 9:30. Although the coffee and water in the reception area was nice. I hope the internet improves because it was slower than dial up and made working very difficult. October 9, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, but with a qualification... When we got to the room, we noticed immediately that the lamp between the beds didn't work. No big deal & we didn't say anything about it. The next morning we told housecleaning that we didn't need anything other than a couple of hand towels and that we had made our own beds. Then we left for the day . When we returned that evening, someone had entered our room and fixed the lamp and had clearly been on the bed next to the lamp. It seems to me that no one should be entering guest's rooms while they're away unless there's a clear agreement that this will be done. We were not at all happy that this had occurred and we would not ever again choose to stay in a hotel where we would expect maintenance personnel to enter our room while we were away. NOT ACCEPTABLE! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Location Overall I loved my time here. The staff was friendly and very welcoming upon check in. My room was located toward the back of the hotel and overlooks Laguna Grande. You can stroll along the pathway surrounding the Laguna. Chili's and Starbucks are just a walking distance from the hotel. October 7, 2014

I paid quite alot, when I could have gotten everything at another chain for less. The room was too small for all the outdated furniture that was stuffed into it. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2 night stay Up to par with majority of Holiday Inn Express even though this one may be a little dated. It was noisy but could be corrected with some door stripping or some type of insulation around the door to divert road noisy. Breakfast staff was continuously refilling low items or items gotten cold. Also one lady cleaning tables was very helpful assisting people to find items they were overlooking. She was there to help get anything you may need while eating, empty your tray, etc. September 23, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay The reason we stayed in this hotel was mainly because of a good rate we got for the 3 days. Good location not too far from attractions . Room was clean and the bed and pillows were ok , but the bathroom area was too small for the bathtub and toilet. Breakfast is very good with different choices and staff is constantly bringing out food. Cinnamon rolls were great. Nice atmosphere. September 23, 2014

The room is quiet, we had a room facing to the back of the property away from the main street. Check in and check out was quick. The breakfast in the community room is good, usual bagels, toast, cereal, but also sausage, small pre-made omelets. September 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice! Close to Monterey Great place to stay if you want to stay away from the traffic, and high prices of Monterey proper. The room was comfortable, the staff was very helpful, and the continental breakfast was good. The only issue I had was the lighting over the bathroom sink was inadequate. You had to supplement the lighting by turning on the lights in the commode area, and even then it wasn't very bright. Otherwise, the stay was very nice! September 20, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I'd Turn Back if I were You This hotel is outdated. The rooms are very small vintage style with only a 3+ foot vanity and equally claustrophobic tub room. I have been with IHG and Priority Club for many years and am a loyal follower.....however in my even shorter 15-year memory, I cannot recall a property as neglected, old fashioned and overpriced. To contribute, there was no water pressure on the 5th floor during my fiance's shower. A call to the front desk temporarily ceased the hotel laundry operation so that she could shower at 5:00 pm, not an unusual time of such request. Then the TV required a re-programming by the maintenance staff to get the satellite TV working. The following morning, another call to the front desk was required to cease laundry operations to get water pressure restored at 10:00 am. I do give full credit to the fine staff of this hotel for being professional and attentive and for doing their best with what they have to work with. However, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting any more than a place to bunk late at night. This property is not suitable for those seeking a contemporary equipped hotel at a reasonable price. Thank goodness for the great staff here who hold everything together. September 19, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Less than expected We have stayed in a number of Holiday Inn Expresses and have enjoyed them (usually new, clean, comfortable, efficiently run, etc), but this property was old, dated, in need of DEEP cleaning and power washing and painting--even the roof was worn looking and only the front office building had been rehabbed....just not up to Holiday Inn standards in the guest rooms and cost MORE than the usual Express costs. Nothing about the hotel was above average except for the staff. The breakfast was only average as far as options available. I would rate the beds as well below average. Very hard and uncomfortable!!! Although on the eastern outskirts it is in an excellent location close to HW1 and within half an hours easy walking distance to downtown and all amenities. The hotel was clean and room comfort excellent and would be more than happy to stay there again. September 15, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MX-5 Miata 25th birthday celebration at Laguna Seca Raceway We arrived early on Friday morning around 9:45am to meet with a group in the parking lot before going to the raceway where we knew we would be all day. We stopped in the office to let them know that we were there and would be back later in the evening. They checked us in and gave the keys and we were able to get in and leave our suitcases. Wonderful!! Over 1900 Miatas showed up for the weekend! A Guiness World Record was set!!! September 10, 2014

At Breakfast everything was empty and the attendant keep filling the items that were not empty. Extremely poor service, from everyone except the reception personnel that check me in. Our room was the top floor with view to the back towards a lovely little inlet with ducks. Interesting decor change from the more modern rooms we usually see at HI Express. Staff at checkin was excellent, we both commented on how welcome we felt. Got a free bottle of water and a cookie. Recommended. Staff service is very good. September 6, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Dirty and Small Room Unfortunately I am one of those who only comment when things go wrong and feel that I have not commented on all of the good IHG properties I have stayed at, yet this visit was disappointing. I could look past the fact that property is obviously old, and I wasn't sure if the elevator, lined with plastic panels, was going to make it to the 5th floor, but what really upset me was the big stain in the middle of the sheets when I opened the bed. I had to remove the sheet before my wife saw it, or I know she would have made us go to another hotel which would have been very difficult after midnight on a holiday weekend in Monterey. Moreover, even though the room had been remodeled, it smelled like it and access to the bathroom and shower where very tight and difficult to get around. The shower had nothing but a metal rack to hold things on, so soap constantly fell through and small travel size bottles of shampoo etc. fell over. The remodel looks like it was intended to put lipstick on a pig instead of taking care to bring this property to the level of other IHG affiliated hotels. September 4, 2014
