Only 1 on the first floor would dispense ice; the second floor unit wa signed out of order; the third floor unit appeared to be turned to standby. Toiletries were limited to body lotion. No shampoo or conditioner. Both rolls of toilet tissue ran out with only 2 occupants using the room. Lack of observation and correction by Housekeeping. More was found at the front desk. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shelbyville Visit The experience was a good one, as we were coming home after a 2,500 trip to visit family. We found a coupon as we travelled, called and was told there was a room for us. We had a very nice welcome from the two young men at check-in and they were quite cordial. The only issue was some masking tape on the overflow in the bathtub. Breakfast was good, as always and there was sufficient fare for eating. Thank the two gentlemen and let them know it was a very good visit. Just fix the bathtub. :) P.S. Could there be a better welcome to IHG Gold Elite members than a single bottle of water and a salty snack? December 8, 2013

This inn has an exceptional staff that bends over backward for their guests. Believe me, I have traveled over 70% of my forty year career and I have found this customer oriented attitude in surprisingly few properties. If you need a place to rest and relax, whether on business or pleasure, I highly recommend this Holiday Inn Express. You will find a friendly staff, ready and eager to make your stay a memorable one. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unsatisfied Customer It's rare that I have negative comments to say about a Holiday Inn Express. In fact, I don't like doing this but I felt like other visitors should be prepared for their service. First of all, when I arrived I had to wait at front dest for at least 5-10 min. before the clerk came to check me in. Then she was rude to me because I rang the bell so many times. Next, I get to my room and there's no remote so I go to use the phone to tell the front desk clerk and the jacks had been ripped out of the phone and the wall. Now I had reservations for 3 days at this particular establishment. I am an avid runner and got myself prepared to hit the treadmill bc of rain outside and NONE of them worked. There were 3 treadmills and 1 elliptical and NONE of them worked. I complained on 2 occasions hoping they would get repaired during my stay. I was disappointed each time I tried to go for a run. Finally, not one time was my bathroom cleaned during my stay. I know this because there was a black ring around my toilet that was never removed during my 3 day stay. The breakfast was mediocre. Cereal was very stale and old and the pancake machine never worked. One night I was sitting in the lobby while on the phone and I witnessed 3 different customers come to claim their room to no one at the front desk. It appears they are in need of more employees at this particular Holiday Inn Express. It would be nice if IHG Rewards Club would reward some or all of my points back to me since I am a valued customer. November 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Hotel in perfect location for my brief visit. Greeted as soon as I walked into the lobby and check in was very pleasant and speedy. The room is nicely appointed with large surface working desk and very comfortable furnishings and decor. Never heard a sound from either inside or from outside the hotel. Would definitely stay in that location again. October 30, 2013

It was so well organized and arreaned that no need for any additional services. It was very good experience . Will prefer to stay here when ever there is opportunity to visit this area. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I am used to much better from Holiday Inn 1. A suite is not a separate bedroom, but one large room with a fold out couch. 2. There were no linens or pillows in the room for the fold out couch. 3. The mattress on the fold out couch was largely stained. 4. The bed linens had blood stains on them. 5. I emailed Holiday Inn about my experience. All they did was reply "sorry"... October 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My Parachute My wife and I were suppose to stay at another hotel in the Shelbyville area with some friends who had made the reservation for us. We checked-in and went to the room. There were things crawing in the room that normally scurry when the lights come on. Went back down to the front desk and checked-OUT. On the way down to the front desk - I had Priority Club on the phone making the reservation for the HIE. They were so polite and accomodating at the HIX. The room was clean, neat and comfortable. Breakfast was 'OK' nothing exceptional. October 7, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Service This was the worst Holiday for service that I have stayed at. We could never get the front desk on the phone and when we walked up to the front desk to get service there was no one there most of the time. When someone was there, they were unable to help us with simple request. I got a bad coke from one of the machines and the front desk told me there was nothing they could do because they did not handle the machines. The front desk had a locked cooler full of beverages they could have offered me, but no, they acted like it was just to bad. If I ever go back to Shelbyville, I will stay at one of the other hotels. I have never had this problem at any of the other Holiday Inns I have stayed at. I do give credit to the breakfast cook. She had a delicious breakfast and was very friendly and helpful. this is the only positive comment I have for this hotel. October 1, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible service. I asked for a handicapped room as I could not walk. Specifically, a handicapped shower. They sent me to a room with a bath tub. I called the front desk, they transferred me to another room, it was a tub, also. I called the front desk and told them it was the same type of room. An hour later, the desk man came to the door and said they had a shower on another floor and he offered to move our stuff again, Needless to say, we were already unpacked. Then there was NO hot water. The system was broken. When we first arrived, the desk man said he would look to see which room had the handicapped shower, he left and we never heard form him until he knocked on the door hours later. September 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay for a great price My husband and I stayed one night here,on Sept.3 and found it to be wonderful. The lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We arrived about 10 pm, and she went to the room to make sure everything was satisfactory, before she ever gave us the key. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean. I would recommend anyone to stay here. They also have a complimentary breakfast, which is very nice. September 12, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor lighting and maintenance I"ve stayed at this property many times since it opened in 2000. It is distressing and disappointing that it has deteriorated so badly. I've several times criticized the extremely poor lighting--one can't possibly read or work without supplemental lighting--but nothing has been done to improve it. To make matters worse, I noticed on the last visit that the property just wasn't as clean as it should be. I understand new management is hard at work, and, to give them credit, they tried their best to meet my concerns. I sure hope they turn it around. September 10, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Room needed help For our vacation we stayed exclusively at HIEs (9 total across AR, MS, TN and KY). This one was, by far, in the worst condition of them all. From the beginning we had issues. The trouble started with getting into our room. When we told the clerk, that the keycard didn't work, he came upstairs and got it to work (rather quickly at that# as though this problem is common. To his credit he did get it to work, but I felt it would've been more customer friendly to just issue us new cards and if the second ones didn't work, then accompany us upstairs to determine the problem. I really felt like by accompanying us upstairs from the start, he was questioning us. We had no issues with any other locks at any other HIEs during our vacation. Once in our room I noticed dust on the headboards and on the microwave, which made me wonder. I checked inside the microwave and found it dirty as well, #it looked like a liquid had been heated, splattered onto the sides of the mic, and had dried there.) We moved the tray that held the coffee maker and condiments and found that it was NASTY underneath. It was like coffee had spilled on the counter and was never wiped up. It had dried all around the bottom of the tray...NASTY!. The reading lights that were between the beds was a nice amenity, but neither light was in good condition. Both were very loose and felt like they needed to be tightened at the base. Lastly, there was a long crack in the drywall that ran along the top of the A/C unit. The room felt like it was not Holiday Inn quality; like the maintenance and housekeeping both were lacking. To my discredit, I did not say anything to the clerk. I wish I would've, but felt like, after the initial lock problem, it would've been awkward if not confrontational. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very substantial. We were in a hurry to get on the road heading home, glad for the 6:30AM start of breakfast. July 26, 2013

When we had a couple concerns about the room we were about to spend time in for nine days, we mentioned them to Lisa (I hope this is her name because I want her to get the credit), and she immediately upgraded us to a suite. No extra charge. All the staff was very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel to all our family and friends. June 23, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy and pet friendly This is my second stay at this hotel and again, I was not disappointed. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well maintained. I should note that I was traveling with my dog, a very well behaved Siberian Husky and she was as welcomed as the human members of my family. I whole heartedly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to or through the Shelbyville area. June 6, 2013
