Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needed upgrade This hotel is located adjacent to Slough train station and 10 minutes walk to Tesco and shopping center. Comparing with Premier Inn; Premier Inn is offering pocket spring mattress, bigger and thicker towels. Holiday Inn Express need to improve to stay in competition. Sausages served at breakfast is of low quality, more filling than meat, taste like paper. Shower soap "Lux" should be discontinued as it is poor in retaining skin moisture. June 16, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A little disappointing after American Holiday Inn Expresses We were on a visit from the U.S. We usually choose the Holiday Inn, with Friend and Family rates it's really a good deal. Room was really clean, and the bed comfortable. And the double glazing kept out the sounds of nearby trains and planes. We stayed two nights and the breakfast menu, although enjoyable, was the same both days. No facility to make pancakes, and no cinnamon rolls as advertised. June 16, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisey overlooking train station. Requested a double bed but got two singles instead. Room on second floor overlooked the station and I could hear the trains running through continually. I think the description said round the corner from the station, whereas actually it was down the road a little from the station. Convenient location if you are a heavy sleeper, which I am not especially living in a quiet place. June 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel but... Lovely attentive and helpful staff - but parking is appalling. We had to cut our tourism short just to guarantee a parking space - The hotel was full that night due to LEGOLAND visitors and a lot had to pay to park next door at the train station. June 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic service and great food We stayed for our trip to Legoland, it's only 5.5 miles away. For a budget stay I recommend it highly. Clean, well presented, the staff were very obliging, informative and lovely, especially with our three year old daughter. Room was comfortable and clean, brilliant to use as a base. Free parking was limited but we got a space and it is secure, we found the hotel easily as well. The food was great, we had the Legoland deal which was brilliant value, portions were more than generous and it was well presented and tasted great. The breakfast buffet was brilliant, lots of selection, maintained well by the staff and again tasted great. I have already recommended it to two of our friends with children for when they visit Legoland. If you needed anything else there's a Tesco Extra close by. The train station is next door to the hotel but it wasn't intrusive. June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great staff This hotel is ideal for families visiting legoland windsor, about a 15 minute drive away depending upon traffic. Rooms at the back look onto railway lines which is either a plus or a minus depending upon the age of your children. The staff at check-in, check-out, in the bar and at breakfast have been terrific. This is the second year we have used this hotel for our annual visit to legoland with our grandsons. June 9, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel rundown and No Functioning Air Conditioning in Room I have stayed at this hotel many times due to it's convenient location adjacent to the Slough railway station. However, I will think twice about staying at it again. The air conditioner in my room didn't work and the room became very hot. Leaving the window open was not an option due to the proximity to the rail tracks. I reported the air conditioner after my first night of stay but it was no better on the second night. The hotel is generally becoming quite run-down. The bathrooms are very good, but the carpet and bed treatments were stained and old. June 9, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by check-in trainee receptionist made us very welcome when we arrived at the hotel after a long-haul flight June 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for your money Its excellent location, clean large rooms and good services (and not only) make the Holiday Inn Express an ideal place to enjoy and take advantage of either for business or pleasure (plus points: closeness to the railway and Windsor Palace). Good value for your money, indeed! June 8, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good value, uncomfortable bed, breakfast chaotic This hotel is convenient for the station and for the general Slough area. We were going to a party 10 minutes away so it suited our needs. We requested rooms on the opposite side to the station as the rooms on the station side can be noisy. The main problem we found was that there was a long queue to get breakfast and we waited 40 minutes or more to get our food. Once we got our food, all the tables were taken and there was nowhere to sit and eat so we ended up sitting on chairs in the reception area and because it took so long to find somewhere to sit, our food was cold. The whole breakfast experience was chaotic to say the least with kids running around and people saving tables before they even had their food. June 5, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They will sell your room! Sold my room despite advising them in person that I would arrive late. Don't think about eating the microwave meals either, they are awful. Breakfast is like a cattle market! Parking is a nightmare and the railway horns and trains will keep you awake well into the night! On top of that try and sleep well knowing you have paid well over the odds for a room at Holiday Inn Express. Do your home work!!! Check the guys that guarantee a good night's sleep 2 Mins up the road! Trust me....you won't regret it! June 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good overnight stay in clean friendly hotel Stayed one night prior to flight from Heathrow. Hotel is about 10 miles from airport, The A4 from Slough goes direct to Heathrow removing the need to use the busy/slow Motorway. Check in was quick, easy and friendly. We had a room away from the railway and had a peaceful night. The room was very clean, (thank-you Dorota), Hotel has free WiFi which was a really good speed. Breakfast was the standard express offering. Despite being very busy the food counter was restocked quickly. The only negative thing about the hotel is the limited parking (which is free). The car park fills early. Additional parking is available in the adjacent train station car park, but I think you have to pay for this. June 2, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Legoland Break Super hotel with spacious rooms for families, only a short drive from LEGOLAND. Staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. free wifi was a bonus. Only drawback is the limited parking and having to pay extra costs to park at the rail station. (can be quite expensive if staying a few nights) June 2, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by we were grateful for having the same room as per last december however, we found that the breakfast was of poor quality and at the sametime, for example, lack of sharp knives to cut your rotten oranges, etc. we will be as old aged pensioners from France returning this December to Slough but we have decided to find a local hotel a lot less costly where there is a decent breakfast June 1, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by shame about the noise Good location for airport and tourist attractions, however the hotel is next to the station with one side of it overlooking the railway tracks. Trains run through the night therefore not good for a good night's sleep! Parking is also restricted in the hotel, if the car park is full you have to park in the station car park at £13 per night. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Business Traveler Front desk staff -excellent. They made our long stay enjoyable. Once you leave your room, it is challenging getting work done with no business section, very few electrical outlets and no hospitality items in the lobby (coffee, tea, etc.). May 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Location for travel First thoughts on arrival were - Not in the most picturesque of settimgs because of the built up area around it, a little cramped with small car park, but on checking in, discovered the train station was right next door which enabled us to travel without using the car. 6 mins into Windsor about £2.40 return and services running every few mins. This was great as there are plenty of places to see and eat in Windsor. The hotel itself is lovely and clean and the staff very helpful. Good base for Lego Land but if you are a couple without children try and avoid school and bank holidays as the queue for breakfast gets very busy. Overall, enjoyed our stay and would use again if in the area. May 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Surpisingly good! As a 3 star hotel Holiday Inn Express in Slough has really surprised us with their kind, friendly and professional staff, high level cleanliness and really nice atmosphere. Only breakfast was rather poor, but generally: very good stay! Recommended . May 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by parking issues and poor design of breakfast area Unfortunately I cannot recommend this particular hotel as my overall experience was disappionting.car parking was a big problem.limited on site parking meant a mile round trip to the car park situated in the railway station which is unsecured and no easy access by foot after dark.it costs a lot of money over 2 nights and should be complimentry for hotel guests , it can be stressful and intimidating if arriving late to park away from the hotel site with young children.breakfast area needs widening as the volume of guests at busy times can mean a queue of 15 minutes for your cereal/toast etc.i cannot say my first nights sleep was great as I was woken at 2am with some kind of generator device buzzing outside the room.a car alarm went off at 5am but by then I was already awake so it did not matter too much! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal for London Break Stayed Thursday and Friday - Legoland Windsor Thursday and London sights Friday. Approx 10 mins drive from Legoland depending on traffic. Train station next door and regular trains into London Paddington (although try to get the express train if possible - 15 mins instead of 25!). Party of 4 - myself and my wife, a 4 year old child and 4 month old baby. The room was excellent, very clean and fit for purpose. The sofa bed being folded out filled all the space at the end of the room - not really a concern to us but more fussy types may not like it. I've read mixed reviews about the breakfast, I can only comment on our stay and found it to be excellent, even our four year old fussy eater enjoyed it! Staff were always very friendly and helpful. No problems with parking as we arrived on a Thursday, but it was more or less full when we left on the Saturday. We had evening meals on both nights - the menu was small but did the job again not a problem for us. My one gripe would be the prices of the drinks at the bar which were a bit steep! There is a huge Tesco within walking distance which could be used to buy food and drinks. Would certainly consider this hotel again for a similar break in future. May 21, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Hotel good but other guests ruined sleep We stayed in a room on the 7th floor with one double and a sofa bed. The double was comfortable but the sofa bed wasn't so good. Room nice and clean and breakfast was great with something for everyone. Parking is limited due to size of site but we were lucky enough to arrive at the right time and get one. Unfortunately, the guests next door to us found it acceptable to come in at 2am, start arguing with each other and keep our family awake untill after 4am. We explained this to the reception staff at check out who said they would speak to the occupants. Checkin and out also very easy! May 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfectly comfortable and convenient. Very good staff and service. We stayed here for 1 night to see friends in Slough and visit Windsor. The location is very convenient. Car parking was nice and easy. Very convenient for the train too, which we took to go into Windsor. Though more signage from the main road would have driving there even easier. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Quick and easy check-in and check-out. Rooms were clean and very functional. Having stayed at a lot of Holiday Inns and Express, I thought this was definitely among the best. May 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value, great welcome A group of teenagers in the floor above were noisy but settled down in time for a good nights sleep. TVs could do with upgrade. Comfortable bed and pillows. Good bathroom strong shower. May 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel Booked here for a trip to London with my children. I was worried as it was so close to the train station but neednt have! We didnt here the trains at all! The Manager made us all very welcome. The room was a good size with plenty of room in the bathroom too. Ideal for nipping into central London! Free parking at the hotel was welcomed and the breakfast was great with plenty of choice. We will be be staying again May 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Visit before going to legoland Second visit to this hotel. Ideal location easy to get to London as the train station is 50metres away. Also ideal for visiting Legoland , chessington, and not far from heathrow. Rooms good some noise from railway station, staff pleasant and helpful, food reasonable breakfast plentiful though limited with hot tray because of being buffet. Parking could be problem but I used station car park. April 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value family room The family room is very good value. Our 4 & 6 year olds were happy sharing the sofa bed and the room was a good size and perfectly clean. The inclusion of breakfast is a real selling point for me. The reason I scored it so low on comfort was our bed, it was so uncomfortable, had we been able to arrive at decent hour, I would have asked to change rooms but as it was 11pm we put up with it. I don't suppose staff check beds unless people complain so understandably it's easily missed but it was clearly damaged or over used as you just rolled into a big dip in the middle. We both left aching! April 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Continental breakfast, i was pleasantly surprised The twin room we stayed in was lovely but had an adjoining inside door. I was very conscious of this throughout I and the people next door kept taking turns to open it to check if there was anyway someone could get in through there while we were sleeping! This was quite distracting. Also for a light sleeper like me, i could hear all the conversations going on in the adjoining rooms. I guess it might have been very busy at the hotel as it was bank holiday and lots of families staying there. Finding our way to the hotel was also tricky from Windsor and the hotel was in a tight spot. Other than this the room was lovely, shower hot and we felt comfortable. A nice break from home and after visiting legoland all day. April 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely bad experience, much better choices in the area I booked 2 rooms and requested interconnecting due to small children. Guest relations told me this could be requested but only the hotel could guarantee. I spoke to the hotel 2 days before arrival and was assured this had been done. However on arrival this was not the case and we had to reorganise and separate to accompany the children. I was told I can cancel the booking and get a refund when they couldn't provide the room, not an exactly an option at 10.30pm with 3 childrens and 3 hours from home. Aside from that the rooms were what you would expect from a HI express, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. the bathroom supplies in my room were empty. Parking was a big problem with the car park full and all car parks close by full, In the end we managed to squeeze onto a payment without restrictions to avoid a ticket in the morning Breakfast was probably the worst I have had at any hotel and I stay in a lot of hotels, selection was basic (which I don't mind as I only do continental) but it was extremely congested due to its size and location. All in all it was my first and last stay at this hotel, there are much better options as alternatives, I normally stay at the HI M4/Jct 4 which is fantastic or I would choose a premier inn anyday over this particular hotel. If you do decide to stay, hope you have a better experience than I did. April 24, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed Poor parking facilities for both nights had to park in a side street.had to order bath towels on both days.Had to order hand wash on second day as it was empty. The toilet had an undesirable smell coming from it on our arrival and remained for the rest of the day.On our departure the receptionist on the desk asked us if our stay was ok when I explained my grievance she remarked ok see you again.Poor customer service by the desk staff did not feel welcome by the ladies. April 23, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Positives and Negatives Postitives + Efficient check-in + Staff were all very pleasant and helpful + Free wi-fi throughout hotel + Very quiet and clean room with a good layout. + TV had a good selection of channels + Air Conditioning unit in room was left on all night (very quiet) + Very clever bathroom/door design + Hotel is right next to Slough train station + Nice lounge/bar area for guests with large screen TV + Free Continental style breakfast + Great Coffee/Hot Chocolate machine + Reception will provide certain essential items free if you ask (toothpaste, etc) Negatives + Hotel is right next to Slough train station - Can hear trains sometimes + Hotel is on flight path for an airport - Can hear planes overhead from time to time + At check-in I was initially told I had to pay for my room when this had been booked through my company travel desk - After checking, she confirmed that it had been paid. + Room price was more than expected - Reception listed from/to prices of room, so I could see that prices had been increased due to Easter. Charge was over double the minimum price shown at reception. + Had twin room not Double as requested + Bath towels are too small + Only Tea & Coffee in room, no hot chocolate. + Lots of Families with children due to Easter Break Close to Legoland at Windsor - Beware Weekends and Holidays. + Lifts seem to have a mind of their own. + I stood on 4th waiting for lift - Both were on 0. + Both lifts went up to 6th. One lift then came back down but did not stop at 4 and went to 0. The 2nd lift then stopped at 4 and took me to 0. I was very confused. + Breakfast + It was chaos - The area & layout set aside for food is far too small and not thought out very well. People had to queue. People kept pushing in to get food. + Put trays, plates and bowls at the front instead of in the middle of everything else. + Large toaster - This was great but I would recommend getting another as people were queuing to use this too. + Hot food + Only toast, scrambled eggs, beans and sausages. + Sausages were of poor quality + Adding hash browns, bacon and fried eggs would be a good idea April 21, 2014
