Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Good stay with issues.
This is a nice property and will be even nicer once the new lobby and breakfast area is finished. Our main problem was that the fire alarm went off three times the first night. It was a false alarm each time. The staff on duty did not seem to have been trained to handle fire evacuation emergencies. We got no instructions or advice. The limited parking due to the new construction restricted the fire department access and would have been an issue in a real emergency. I recommend that management work with the fire department to make sure there is always access for emergency vehicles and that all staff are properly trained in emergency evacuation procedures.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tim27 Very nice hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay at this Holiday Inn. It was our first time here, and I would stay again The only couple of negatives... parking was really tight. Part of the lot was blocked off as the hotel was under construction. And the only other complaint, which I would assume doesn't happen often is, the fire alarm went off at 3:50 i the morning. We evacuated outside, and were let back in by the fire department about 4:30. Then it went off again around 7:00, then again shortly after that. Thankfully, there was no emergency, and the second and third alarm were only on for less than a minute.
Otherwise, great accommodations. We got to look out over the city lights from our balcony, with a nice size room and comfy beds.

The hotel was being remodeled and the parking lot was full when we checked in. Luckily, Jennifer at the front desk was very careful and found us a parking spot. Unfortunately, there were three false alarms during our one night stay. One was at 4 am, and the other ones were at 6 am and 7 am. The hotel didn't give us the reasons why. It was a restless night for us and for our kids.

Though I vowed not to stay here again, we tried this location again. I was again very upset with the parking situation due to the construction. The guests should get the overnight parking spots NOT the construction vehicles/equipment and the staff parking. I don't believe the management is doing enough to alleviate the situation. I understand the construction ...but they could
1. mandate that construction equipment and vehicles be placed inside the construction fence at night.
2. Arrange for staff parking off property
3. Reduce the number of handicaps parking stalls (all 4 of them went unused both nights of our stay)
4.Compensate guests with a lower construction rate on rooms
The first night there was absolutely no room to park. The night attendant moved his car for me. The second night I was forced to park along the construction fence as many were. The next morning I was given a a wake-up call and asked to go move our car for the workers. (I thought you sold sleep) Furthermore when I got to my car there were paint droplets on the one side of my car from the painters who had already started painting!
I will NOT stay here again!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Regulus67 Parkless in Spokane
While my family and I were transferring for Wisconsin to Seattle our trip took us through Spokane. We were not sure how far we were going to make it during the day so I had to make reservations late about 3 in the afternoon. I was told there was only one room left with two queen beds that our pet and us could have. I reluctantly said yes since it was on the "view" side of the hotel. We got there and found a hotel mostly under construction with almost no parking. We have two cars and were only allowed to park one at the hotel. Just a few feet away was what we were told for our second car, but it was quite the walk UP a hill and without a sidewalk on a busy street. Dimly lit and we had to pay for it. The room was ordinary definitely not worth the price we had to pay and they offered no military discount even though many other HI that I have stayed at have. Anyway the view was nothing to talk about because the fence on the first floor covered most of the river, if I stood on my toes and looked I could see it. The thing that ticked me off the most as we were unloading there were employees parking in the undersized lot. I was told they had a meeting that night and would be gone, does me no good when I was trying to find a parking place at 8pm. the other thing that ticked me off was that they were carrying beer in. I would like to have meetings at work like that. I think I am going to drop HI from my hotel list.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Arnie1 Keep away until they are done with the construction!
No mention was made of their giant front lobby remodel when we booked our stay. Not that this was a huge issue but rather how they tried to accommodate for it. Parking was very minimal due to half the parking lot roped off for the construction equipment, breakfast was poorly placed into 2 hotel rooms and the hallway, and our personal room had many issues (AC unit did not work properly, fan in bathroom did not work, fridge did not work, bed and bedding was horrible). Will not stay at this HI Express property again. Red Lion is right across the street and looks much, much nicer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LKS19 Parking nightmare
The hotel is convienently located and has a great view, however, I would not recommend staying here during the current remodeling. Parking is a nightmare, the breakfast room is cramped and crowded and the office is about as big as a closet. It will probably be nice once construction is finished but until then I would not recommend. We were scheduled to stay for three nights and checked out after one.

Another good stay at the Holiday Inn Express! Check in was quick and hassle free. Personable staff. Construction still taking place, but looks to be close to complete. Room was clean. Enjoyed the big flat screen and the HBO! Will definitely come back!

I stay here when I come to Spokane. I know that it's having an extensive remodel and the staff copes very well w/ it. The staff is consistently wonderful. BUT this is the first stay that I wish I had never walked in. Someone stayed above me and the noise was terrible. It sounded like they were dropping very heavy objects on the floor- for hours... Finally I asked to be moved to another room after the staff had contacted them a couple times. So I moved and got a few hours sleep. Horrible stay. I was exhausted the next day. With that said I would still recommend the hotel because this hopefully won't happen again.

I have been staying at this Holiday inn Express for many years. I would guess I have spent at least 30 nights here. I have always enjoyed my stays at this location. However, the last few stays within the last year has been mediocre at best. The staff is always helpful and cordial, but the remodeling is getting really old! if you come back to the hotel late in the evening, there is no parking which is very bothersome after a long day. The breakfast area is always packed. I will seriously consider other accomodations the next time I come to Spokane. Also did not get welcomed as I usually do as a Rewards member as I usual do..

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Kungfu66 Bed comfy however renovations warning would have been nice
After being on the road and staying at other Holiday Inn Expreses and Staybridge Suites in Idaho and Utah the previous 2 weeks I was abit disappointed to find that this hotel was under a major renovation to its lobby and breakfast room area. This should have POPPED UP when making the booking. Our room was fine, beds are always comfy but the breakfast room set up was pretty poor. Noise and dust on the tables in the hall were highly noticeable, the rooms allotted for the breakfast bar and tables were very crowded. We had to take our food to our room to sit down as there was no open tables. I even saw the breakfast room attendent place biscuits from a box with plastic wrap into the serving trays - they were COLD and seeing them coming from a prepackaged box was abit unappetizing. As a Gold Elite customer this property made no special effort when I checked in (Previous properties have given me water and chocolate bar or cookies in room) ~ those small things do impress a priority club member that is building their loyality to the Holiday Inn Chain. As I am in the travel business I do belive that the renovation warning should have been advised.

We enjoyed our brief stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Spokane. After a long day of driving it was great to have a clean, comfortable room for a good night's sleep. Everything was taken care of wonderfully. We were greeted as Rewards Members and given a welcome gift. We had a great sleep - love the choice of pillows. The breakfast in the morning was good. Even though it was very busy the ladies who took care of the breakfast room were fantastic. Very personable, quick to refill breakfast items, quick to clean up tables - the best I've ever seen at a Holiday Inn Express. Enjoyed having the newspaper slipped under the door with our bill. We loved the view out the windows of the downtown of Spokane. Even though they were in the midst of remodeling the new entrance to the hotel, we did not feel at all inconvenienced. Great stay!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Travelling2013 Great Hotel... if you're not a Celiac
Overall the hotels location and our room were great. Even the current hotel renovations didn't effect our stay. The only downside for us was at breakfast time. Our group contained two Celiacs (we can't eat gluten), so we asked at the front desk about gluten free breakfast options. They advised asking the breakfast staff - the breakfast staff didn't have a clue what options gluten free and judging by their reaction/suggestion, they didn't know what gluten free meant. So we had to provide our own breakfast for the duration of the stay.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Glover3 Exciting experience!
Beautiful old hotel in great downtown location near the river. Great staff were very helpful in advising us and driving us to the downtown restaurants and business we needed to visit. Would have been perfect except for the major renovation going on that all guests had to work their way through to come and go from the facility. Highlight came when the contractor triggered the fire alarm repeatedly causing all guests to move toward the exits, some of which were blocked!! Don't think we will be back until the all the dust settles and the lobby/breakfast area is again available.

My husband and I were on our way to Glacier, and chose this HI due to the proximity to the river. Even though they are going through renovation, we had no problems. We were greeted with a complementary happy hour and potato bar, so these weary travelers didn't have to leave the hotel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again. BTW, the pillows are the best. Is there any way we can buy these?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tersecurse Building Under Construction already have great customer service
Great location and even despite the fact that the hotel is under construction making parking difficult and the breakfast area, three converted hotel rooms, extremely tight quarters when busy the hotel provided an excellent stay, based on my three interactions with the staff. First example of great customer service the front desk attendant listens to what I was looking for in a restaurant, cuisine and cost, she made a perfect recommendation for dinner. Next, in the morning Jennifer not only assisted my in finding a place to wash my car after I indicated the prior evening two trips through a gas station car wash failed to clean the car she provided me a coupon for an express wash at a place just a few blocks away. Finally, I called after my stay searching for a lost item and after a fruitless search of lost and found; she indicated they would file a lost item report. The next day I received a call indicating they did not find the item by this time I knew the item was not left at the hotel room and I am still impressed by their follow-up on a potential lost item.

The staff was great, very professional and friendly. Paul even drove us to the White Elephant one morning.
Dog friendly, although guests don't seem to pick up after their animals.
Breakfast was good, and the diet changed somewhat daily. The breakfast staff was outstanding.
Location is a bit odd, being on top of a huge rock, but once you get oriented, it's not bad. Not really downtown though, needs a walk through the park to get to cafes, etc. It was brutally hot in Spokane (100F) and I get cranky in that kind of heat.
I would always recommend a Holiday Inn Express.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Milybob Parking Passes
I travel often for business and I am a cautious traveler, including not sharing my hotel room # with anyone. I was disappointed to see that the required parking passes at this location were merely four digits, and hte last three digits were my room number. I think if the hotel prefers to utilize parking passes, it should use a random system of letters/numbers/symbols that is linked to a guest so that you record the guest's name and room number and the random parking pass number. If someone wanted to take notice of my parking pass number as I drove into or out of the hotel parking lot, they would have no problem determining which room I was staying in. Just a thought. Otherwise, it was a great stay with beautiful scenery. And you have a great employee with I believe his name was Anthony. Wonderful!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KeithK Being Renovated
We were surprised to find that this hotel is undergoing renovation so the front lobby and reception areas were closed down. We did not see any mention of the construction when we made the reservations for this business trip. The construction, temporary front desk and temporary breakfast rooms were not ideal but its the price someone has to endure for the ongoing improvements. All that being said, the hotel staff did their best to be accommodating and to make the best of a temporarily inconvenient situation for guests. The hotel sits on a large hill in downtown so it is surrounded by busy streets and the parking lot is steep in parts. However, it is adjacent to the excellent downtown park making it very convenient to wall along the river and see the falls.

One of the worst Holiday Inns I have stayed in. Customer service was bad and room was substandard. The hotel is undergoing renovations but that shouldn't detract from the overall experience. I would not recommend this hotel to any friends, family, or other individuals.

I sent a manager to the Couer D'Alene on last minute business, but the CDA Holiday Inn Express was booked up. Staff at Spokane took great care of my manager and made sure he had everything he needed to be ready for a very productive stay. Thanks so much for the early checkout breakfast bag. It is one main reason we will keep coming back to HIX over and over. Little things like that show you care about your customers.

Was VERY pleased with the comfort, value and experience. As a Mom traveling with 4 teens the breakfast, dinner and dessert was a GREAT value and experience. Lots of choices for breakfast. Dinner more limited but was good and the fresh baked cookies and cold milk excellent. Couldn't beat it! The 2 Queen beds we very comfortable unfortunately the pullout bed you could not sleep on. It was metal springs wrapped in fabric. So night 2 the smallest person slept on the couch. The free upgrade for choosing the priority club rewards when booking the trip EXCELLENT. Jacuzzi tub AMAZING! We all felt special. Thank you for making a wonderful memory for me and my kids. Will definitely recommend the holiday inn express service.

This was not our first stay. The location in the heart of the city is easily accessible from I-90 and close to Riverfront Park and fine local dining. We were surprised on this visit to see the building undergoing a major face lift to blend with the Victorian architecture seen in much of the city. The project is nearing completion and the changes are tastefully executed. The lobby and breakfast area are also being enlarged and improved. We appreciate the outside entrances available on the ground floor rooms, allowing us to park and transfer luggage directly from our car to the room. The staff is very friendly and professional and take a personal interest in both the facility and customers. The rooms are comfortable and modern. We look forward to our next visit to see the completed remodel.

Great Service! I was very impressed w/the front desk staff, expecially Kyle. He helped me over the phone to modify my reservation and also checked us in. He was polite, courteous and efficient. All of the people at the front desk helped me through the weekend and were quick and responsive despite the reno commotion and the fact the the hotel was full. Housekeeping people were very gracious and accomedating w/extra towels/soap etc. I would definitely stay here againg and recommend it.
