Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by One and half star on a good day This place is very old and outdated. Under renovations but don't let the finished lobby fool you. My room was dirty and old. I've stayed at Holyday Inn Express on at least 10 previous occasions without a problem but I would never stay here again. July 28, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unexpected Surprise We had actually booked a room at a competitor hotel nearby and passed this place on the way to our original hotel. The conditions at our original hotel were so abysmal we stayed there less than an hour before cancelling our reservations due to security issues and booking a room here. The staff were incredible. After hearing about our experience they gave us a complimentary upgrade to an executive king room (which was great because we were traveling with a little one, so the fridge was helpful). Cannot recommend this property enough. July 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Lights Out Booked for 3 nights because this Holiday Inn is so close to the Metro. On third night all power to the hotel was lost and could not be repaired in a timely manner. The hotel staff made reservations at another motel about 20 miles South of DC. They had everything, including gathering my luggage, well organized. I can image what a difficult task this must have been. All guests had to be moved and someone had to walk up stairs to sometimes the tenth floor to gather belongings. The staff did an excellent job. I definitely would stay here again. July 20, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Would NOT recommend for people who travel frequently I am a priority club member and stay at a lot of Holiday Inn properties. This one was one of the worst. First of all it was extremely run down. The outside was awful, lobby was fine, room had old and worn furniture/furnishings, carpeting, etc.. Had to wait 15 minutes to check in because the only person at the counter was extremely slow and chit chatty with the ONE person in front of me. Myself and the other patrons waiting finally got irritated enough that another employee(who had walked by multiple times already) asked if I needed help. There was no microwave or frig in the room(irritating), and no outlets on or near the nightstands(extremely irritating!). I had to move the bed in order to plug something in. Also, no acknowledgement or perks for priority club members, no upgrade for platinum even though I was told they weren't near capacity. As someone who travels frequently for business and is very use to the benefits of being a priority club member, I would NOT recommend this property. Even if it is cheaper than other local Holiday Inn properties, I found it very inconvenient and will not be returning. July 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff, safe and clean room We went on a two week road trip this summer and the staff at this Holiday Inn Express was by far the best. They were very attentive, friendly and courteous. The food was good at the breakfast bar and the cleanliness was very good, they were constantly watching it and cleaning tables/counters as necessary. We had no problems with our room, everything worked fine. The hotel is over 30 years old and does show it's age in places. When we were there they were painting the exterior and redoing portions of the parking lot, so that was a bit of a mess. Plus as others noted, the hallways were a bit warm to even hot. The hotel is in a commercial area right next to the highway and felt safe. Very convenient to DC. The courtesy van will get you to the MART stop in about 10 minutes, then a 30 minute ride down to the Smithsonian stop from there. There's a few places to dine nearby that you can walk to, and the courtesy van will take you to a number of other places if you wish. All in all a good place to stay if you'd like to balance a less expensive hotel with a Metro ride to DC, versus a more expensive Hotel in downtown DC. We'll definitely stay there again if we travel to DC. July 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff Big room, comfortable bed, awesome staff! Arrived July 4th and used the DC Metro for the 1st time. Hotel is not close enough to walk but the hotel provides a shuttle upon request. Used the shuttle to and from the Metro for 3 days and they were quick to accomodate each time. Additionally, the free shuttle service is supposed to end at 10:30 PM but on the 4th, the driver stayed until after midnight to ensure all hotel guests returned from the festivities in the city....AWESOME!!! Was a little worried about transportation to and from the city when made the reservation but the cost savings was incredible and my concerns were quickly eliminated. Will absolutely stay here again on my next trip to the DC area. July 17, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel This is the second time I stayed in this hotel and it's a good place to stay. The first time the room was better. This time the room we got the bathroom door didn't shut and the bathroom didn't seem as clean as the first one. The beds are comfortable the TV has a variety of channels. The staff is very nice but the breakfast ends too early on a weekend. The shower is great. Overall is a good place to stay. July 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by unable to open door I have stayed at many Holiday Inns and they are usually my favorite and a brand that I have felt I could trust but I want ready to check-out upon arrival. I was unable to open the door because neither of my keys had been programmed for the room assigned me. Once my key was programmed, I tried again and was unable to open the door - it was stuck. I went back down to reception where they looked at me like I crazy and asked if I had gone to the correct room. I asked if someone would like to accompany me. A staff member accompanied me to the door and was also unable to open without a great deal of force. He said he'd have someone look at it the next day. We had to make the same effort to get out the next morning. Not to sound dramatic, but I am glad there was not a fire. July 11, 2013

Spoke to Vivan(at hotel) on 6/26/13 and she stated that I would be getting a credit within 5-7 days. As of this date 7/9/13 I have seen NO adjustment to my account PLEASE ADVISE ASAP July 9, 2013

However, the airconditioner failed twice (once each day of my stay) and I couldn't access the internet either day-this is a first for me and frustrating. Will not stay here when in the area again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Location Because my stay was a one night with a desire to have a guick on/off close to I 95, I chose this Holiday Inn. As a gold Priority Club member, I was given a welcome bag with goodies upon arrival. Close to highway, but very quiet in room. Staff offered to drive me to a restaurant for dinner, but I declined. This HI is ideal for someone traveling on I 95 and just passing through. Two minutes off and two minutes back on. My room was just fine and clean. June 18, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best stay across the country! We had a 3 day event in DC. There were many junior high students all weekend at this hotel. Samir (sp) gave us a 10th floor room away from all the noise. The students even used one elevator leaving one for the other guests. The breakfasts were great because the rest of the jr. High students were fed in a separate room leaving our breakfast plentiful,and quiet. On Sunday, we had left at 3:30am, but other family members said a bunch of basketball students came through like locusts, not leaving much for other guests. Maria and the other beautiful girl really kept the breakfast full, and fresh. I know Maria likes that pancake machine! Congrats to the new mother, manager. The other kudos at this hotel goes to Stacy and the van driver. They were professional, courteous and above all really helpful. This service only comes with good management and supportive corporate people.........THAT is why I had my family book here and with HIEXPRESS . Thank-you. June 15, 2013

There is not much entertainment, but the hotel provides a shuttle service on call to and from the Springfield metro station. Restaurants are within 10 minutes walking distance; Mike's Grill($$$#, and Kate's Pub #$) are 2 examples. June 3, 2013

Drive time is 15-20 minutes from National Mall area without traffic. Franconia-Springfield Metro station is nearby (end of the Blue Line). Comfortable accommodations and friendly, attentive service. Rooms and breakfast are as expected in a well-run Holiday Inn Express. Basic dining and shopping options are close by. June 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by not impressed no i would not recommend this hotel. i was very unhappy with the cleanliness of the bathroom even though i didnt express my concerns this is the second time that i have been very dissatisfied with the bathroom it was also in poor shape. the looked like it was going to fall any minute and the walls inside the shower looked like the had had some very poorly done repairs. i would not have stayed there more than one night. We particularly LOVED the complimentary shuttle bus to and from the nearest Metro station! They will also take you and pick you up from nearby restaurants!! Very friendly and helpful. May 2, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stay here when visiting D.C. We were happy with both the hotel and it's location. The commute into D.C., leaving the hotel about 9A, wasn't bad at all. We did Park and Ride one day to take the metro in to D.C. so we left the hotel earlier that day. The ride was about 40 minutes, but not a bad experience overall. The only negative was the window heat/air unit in my room (#919). It was extremely noisy. We had to turn it off when time to go to sleep. The weather the first week of April, 2013, was chilly; a couple of nights we would have liked to leave it on . April 17, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel with a comfortable bed and the best staff We recently stayed at this hotel and loved every minute.My son and I stayed at this hotel in 2007 on a trip to DC. And we were so pleased last time that is why we stayed here again with my husband.There have been many updates done since we were here last .The room was very nice and quiet and we were near the freeway.The internet never had any disconnections.The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Stacey the night manager is marvelous, he made us feel like we were at home.He recommended places to eat which were wonderful. and close by We highly recommend Mike's Steak house we are still talking about our dining experience.He even gave us a coupon for $10 off our meal. for another restaurant.You just do not get service like this at other hotels..Stacey is your brightess star !!!. This hotel has a van/shuttle service which takes you to the (metro/airport/shopping/restaurant) which is also very nice. service.We did not want to drive to DC.We really needed some time away to relax and unplug and your hotel and staff helped in making this a wonderful time.Even though the cherry blossoms were not in bloom, that only means we need to come again and stay here.again.Keep up the great work everyone.
